Lisa, thank you SO much for writing back...you have no idea!!!
My first thought was PCOS, definitely. I have some of the other symptoms such as acne and weight gain (about 5-10 lbs in the last 6-8 months). When I asked my doctor (which was actually a planned parenthood gynecologist since I don't have insurance...but I'm getting some soon!) if PCOS was a possibility, she said it was highly unlikely since people with PCOS don't get their period at all.
Here's a question for you: Will my thyroid levels show something is wrong if I have PCOS (since you said the hormones mess up the egg production...)? I'm waiting to get my thyroid levels back.
The doc kind of hinted that I would be better off going to a gynecologist or fertility doctor. She told me to keep monitoring my cycle for another YEAR and if doesn't change talk to someone else. Is it just me or does that seem like a long time to potentially have something wrong with you and not get it fixed?
I'm not TTC yet...and I'm well under 35 (I'm 25), but I think we'll be trying in the next year or two and its really bothering me that I'm not "normal". Sigh.
Thank you so much for writing back though...I really appreciate it. And your story about your friend getting pregnant with PCOS is very uplifting.
