The Official TTC Thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Just a quick drive-by, since I'm supposed to go make a baby in a few....

Charbie, You are NOT a jerk. Far from it. I feel like any positive here makes me happy because it gives me hope. I think you should jump in, but if you just happen to fall in by chance and succeed, all the better and you save some of the stress of "trying"! P.S. I don't have any other "identity"--I was a totally new poster when I started on this forum, even though I was a lurker when planning my wedding, etc. I have to admit that I'm still freaked out about posting anything on the internet for fear of being recognized... But then again, it clearly hasn't slowed me down as of late.

DCG, glad to hear you found a solution. It has to be so frustrating to feel like they're taking away any sense of control and making it so inconvenient to make a bebe because they're being inflexible..... GRRRRR nurse. Thank goodness someone has sense. :)

Steal, I think you should get creative here. Just give it a shot. I kind of want to hear the plan, especially so I can steal it if it works!!! Hugs hugs hugs for the pain (unless that's painful too!)

DD & WOIN: Sorry for the negatives... Ugh! When will they invent an instant pregnancy predictor test? That would help save at least half my sanity.

Alright, sorry I can't get to everyone, but I'm thinking of all of you, especially RYAN CLAIRE who has restored our HOPE! HOORAY!

AFM, I packed my (expensive!) smiley opk and managed to use it on a break during my clinical team (awkward much?) in a three stall public bathroom and then got a stupid error message. I wasted money, concentrated pee, and time, not to mention I had to carry the pee cup in my coat pocket today to be ready. BOO!

Alright, luck and dust to everyone. Off to giggle my way through another baby-making tango.

ETA: CDN, thanks for the pic! Now, if you could just sing My Boy Builds Coffins, it'll be like I was THERE.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

hehe! so awkward! but I DID just get a smiley (hooray!) and some EWCM. GO ME IS RIGHT, CDN! Goodbye Glee, hello husband.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

De-lurking to say RYAN CLAIRE!!!! SO excited for you!!! Wishing you and your bean all the best!!!

Also wanted to cheer on Steal, dc, CDN, and all the other lovely TTC ladies! I still follow all of your posts and can't wait to see who is next! They tend to come in groups, those crazy BFPs :naughty: :appl: :wavey:

Ryan!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many congrats to you and your DH's "excellent sperm"!!!!!!!!!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

Haven't been around much lately as my boss is currently in town and has decided to office right next to me and keeps popping his head in at all hours of the day, but wanted to send my sticky dust and prayers!

CD10 here and just getting ready for the next couple weeks. :Up_to_something:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Just wanted to offer my congrats to Ryan Claire!!! Super dust for good betas. Congratulations!!!

Steal - on the Instead cups, I don't know if you were planning to use them, but I thought I would just offer a cautionary tale if you haven't used them before - I found them VERY hard to put in, causing spillage issues which you definitely don't want, and that's when they were empty. I can't imagine trying to work them when full. But you might have more luck, if you have experience or if you practice. Also, I totally thought about doing the at home turkey baster thing too. Good luck!

Dust to everyone!

dcgator, I'm rooting for you and hope this cycle will be it!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

dcgator - I agree with the others - either try to come back earlier (in time for 7am) or pressure your dr. into seeing you later that morning. Never mind, I just saw your newest post - yay for them seeing you later in the morning :appl:

steal - I'm sorry you had such a frustrating experience at your dr. :nono: would be pretty annoyed too if I were you! i agree with those suggesting the 'turkey baster' approach to make sure that your poor little mistreated cervix is not injured in the process

princess - I'm sorry you're finding charting to be frustrating - ibut it sounds as though your body will be back on track quickly - I will keep my fingers crossed for you. By the way, I love any forum in which one can write "snot like mucous" and have everyone just sort of nod and say, oh yes, that's good news

moxie.moo - yay for the good CM - I hope your activities tonight do the trick :naughty:

no exciting news from me - just hanging on at CD 9 today and trying to keep my stress levels down - will start doing the deed more often this weekend in prep for a possible O in the next week or two.. who knows with me? :wink2: Still spotting from the last AF but that's not really new for me, just crazy-making :nono: I just hope that I won't have to take Provera again anytime soon - I truly don't enjoy that med!

would someone mind chiming in - my "normal' cycles have been anywhere from 30-39 days (with all but one in recent months being between 30 and 34 days - the 39 one is a bit of an outlier) - what are the ideal sexytime days based on this info? it was something to do with subtracting the shortest cycle from the longest and getting some sort of range? my brain is fried tonight - someone help :) The only friends I have with kids either got pregnant accidentally (twice! once the week before she and her DH decided to start trying for number 2) or on their very first cycle 'trying' so I don't really know anyone with much info in real life.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Just popping back in to say congrats to RyanClaire and send lots of sticky dust. I know this has been a long time coming and I'm so excited for you!

To all the other TTCers, especially DCG, Bella-mezzo and Steal, wishing you all good luck. The BFPs seem to come in waves so hopefully there will be more to follow soon.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

PumpkonPie The shortest normal LP is 10 days and the longest 16 days. That means, given the range in cycle lengths, the earliest you are likely to ovulate is CD 14 (30 - 16) and the latest is CD 29 (39 - 10), though CD 24 sounds like a more likely laer CD to aim to cover. So if you can, try to cover that period of time, EOD or every third day would do it. It is a long time, though, making it hard to hit more than one day in the actual fertile window using those methods, so I would really recommend charting at least cervical fluid if you don't already, to help narrow the window. Am I recalling that you did not like tmeping because it was wackadoo for you? Reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility is really helpful for understanding CF, which is the best sign to understand to help narrow the target to fertile days.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

CDN- Your emoties crack me up!! Love the Friends one.

LAJen- I hope it is implantation spotting! Keeping my fingers crossed that this is it for you!

Steal- I hope your careful DTD or self-IUI went smoothly without much discomfort. What a story that will be if you get your BFP this month!

princessplease- Thank you for your kind words! Dust to you and a BFP this weekend!!

Ryan Claire- Crossing my fingers that your beta is a great number! Lots of sticky dust to you!

moxie.moo- Yeah for a "smiley"!

LaurenThePartier- Hi to you and have a fun next few weeks! :naughty:

dcgator- I'm so glad everything worked out and you have a nurse that is more attentive to you. That really means a lot when you're already going through a stressful process.

PumpkinPie- I know how evil  the Provera is. I hated that drug throughout my process last time. Hopefully you won't have to take it again! Have you thought of getting an OPK to test when you think you might be O'ing? I hated temping and I won't do it this time around but I did have luck with the OPK last time when I got KU with DS and will use it again if this month is a BFN.

DD- Sorry about the BFN but hopefully in a few days you'll get a BFP!! Do you have a dollar store by you? I resorted to those this time around to make my POAS itch a little more affordable!

AFM- I'm on CD19 (I was a day off on my last post) and still no real sign of O. I'm strictly going off of CF and still no EWCM. So... we're still BDing EOD until hopefully some sign! I O'd late the month we conceived DS but I figured it was from the Clomid. Crossing my fingers that I will O this month. Since having my son my cycles have been very regular at 31 days and usually I'll have a day or two of EWCM. I just haven't really paid attention to when!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Howdy! Just stopping in to say that my appointment with the OBGYN went splendidly, all is well and I absolutley LOVE this lady. She is probably my most favorite doctor I have ever visited. She gave me some pre-natal samples to try, but I am going to wait to start them until after the holidays...just too much going on right now.

So, I am just hanging out in the TTC pool for a while...until the time is right to start trying. :snore:

Good luck to all those actively TTC, hope that you all 2011 babies! YAY!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Moxie- :Up_to_something: :Up_to_something: :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: That's all

LTP- Enjoy the next few weeks :naughty: :naughty:

PP- Ha, I know!!! I was thinking about that as I hit submit, and knew it'd be ok in here  I don't have much to offer in terms of CD and O, but I hope O is back to normal and you don't have to take provera.

L2L- Thank you! I'm sending much O dust your way!!

IWAPO- Welcome!!! I'm glad the meeting with your new ob/gyn went well!!!

AFM, nothing much here. My nips are really really really sensitive and painful to the touch, so who knows. That's something I never ever experienced before, but it's just my nips (I've felt it since yesterday when I woke up). I also had some cramping last night after zumba. Temp was high again today (3 days in a row), so I'm hoping that means I o'ed this weekend.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Adding to previous post since I can't edit: With temp for today and boob/nip soreness plugged in, FF analyzed I O'ed on CD 15, which would put me at 3 DPO (assuming 28 day cycle), so I guess for now, can you put me in 2WW?? Thanks!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hello ladies,

First off, sorry for the completely me-centric posts this week, but I have reached my quota and will be cutting my self-centeredness off for a little while (or at least till my next freak-out), hehe. Otherwise, wow, we continue to be hopping, I  it! And since we are moving at lighting pace, let me catch up here.

Steal - You are my tried and true battle buddy missy. I  you (in a non-stalkerish way) and really hope that we get ourselves a pair of pregnancies by Christmas! I am so sorry for all the poking and prodding from the doctor, but hopefully you were able to work around it. So, tell us, how did you little experiment go last night? Are you going to BD today or continue with the alternative methods? Either way, I hope it worked out well and without injury, lol. I would also add that if you did indeed O yesterday, that Sunday's BD'ing could definitley be enough to get you KU. Btw, thanks for the link to the info. In the US, all the major clinics report their ART results to the CDC (essentially a national health database type thing) however, unfortunately, no one reports on IUI cycles. But, it's good to have the IVF result from my clinic, so I know what their success rates are with IVF, should we have to move onto that. Oh, and thanks for making the list. I am at CD5 today and gearing up for a successful cycle!

Gaby - Thanks for the IUI dust. I am sorry about the BFN and about the eye infection. What a crappy weekend! Well, it can only get better from here, right? I wish you lots of luck this cycle and hope that it's the one for you!

Princess - No worries. Thanks for your IUI dust. As for your temp rise, that sounds promising, so welcome to the 2WW! I am betting on an O date of CD15 too. Lots of luck and hopefully you will be a jerkstore!

Dragonfly - Thanks for popping in to check on us. I heart you too  So, how about that win last week? Thank goodness b/c my poor Gator heart couldn't take it if we lost again, especially to GA!

CDN - I love the baby dust cement idea. In fact, baby cement for all of us, lol. Thanks for the well wishes on the IUI. I hope it does the trick! I wish you luck in the coming week and hope you catch that eggie! Oh, and I adore all the new and funny emoticons. Keep em coming! Btw, I love the cartoon too.

Lili - Thanks for your thoughts. As for the Clomid-only IUI's, it does in fact seem like those are less effective, so I have some renewed hope for the Clomid + Follistm IUI cycle. Lots of good energy! I also send my good energy to you and hope that you are able to get KU the old fashioned way. Fingers crossed!

Bella - Congrats on the well timed BD'ing, it's always nice when you enjoy it too, :naughty: And I wouldn't worry too much about the parallel adoption tracking, since I think everything will work out for you guys. Just keep doing what you are doing, and you shall find a LO (or 2) soon. Lots of luck on both fronts!

Loves2Laugh - OMG, that pic of your DS is too cute. I love the haircut. As for the waiting game, yeah, it blows. But, it sounds like you and your DH are covering all your bases. I really hope that you did O this month too. Fingers crossed for you!

Dreamer - Sorry about the BFN, but it is indeed still early. I have my fingers, toes, and everything else crossed for you though. Lots of baby cement!

Charbie - Thanks for your prayers sweetie, I really appreciate them. As for you, are you going to give into the temptation of testing? If you decide to, you know we are here to talk you through it  And don't ever say you feel like the first part of jerk-store. If you get KU, we will be so happy for you! In fact, I'm sure that every girl on here would love to see another BFP.

Modern - Glad you had a good trip. How is the BD'ing going? Any confirmed O yet?

Ryan Claire - Another SQUUEEEE for your BFP (hmm, that rhymed, hehe). How did the doc visit go today, any more news? Oh, if you took another test this morning, can you post so we can all have something pretty to look at,

WOIN - I am sorry about your BFN, but like you said, it is way early. Have you give into the POAS monster again. If so, we are happy to interpret faint second lines

LA Jenn - I am voting for implantation bleeding too. One of the months I had a chemical, I defintely had implantation bleeding, so it is a real phenomenon. And fyi, the past three months I have been on Progesterone, it has not caused bleeding.

Moxie - Hello there lady. Thanks for the well wishes. Sorry about the one bad OPK test, but YEAH for the smiley one. Enjoy your BD'ing time with DH and catch that eggie!

LTP - Glad to see you back hun. I really hope that you have a prodcutive week ahead :naughty: and that you boss will leave you alone so you can get one with PS'ing already, lol. Lots of luck!

Catluver - Thanks for the love. I hope you are baking your LO well. Do share pics when you get em.

Pumpkin- Thanks for chiming in, but it has been worked out, so that's good. As for your longer cycles, I would try to bed between CD 15-22, if possible, or at least EOD during that period. I understand the not temping, but perhaps you could some OPK' and start using them from CD 16 or so. Maybe its time to invest in some internet cheapies. Either way, I wish you luck this cycle and hope you manage to hit your fertile window!

IWPO - Glad to see you as well. That's awesome that you found a great OB, and yeah for free samples, lol. We look forward to having you in the deep end of the pool soon!

*****
AFM - I am rolling along here, and much less stressed (save the crazy work stuff with 11 hour days ). So, I am CD5 and one day into my Clomid. I will be taking that till Saturday, and then have my Follistm injection on Saturday, and my RE apt on Monday to determine if I trigger or need another Follistm. Other than that, I am heading to Nashville this weekend to watch my Gators play fooseball, so that should be some much needed fun! I know we still have a couple ladies in the 2WW's and I am hoping you all follow RC's lead. Good luck everybody wherever in your cycle you are!

DC- Thank you! I'm glad to hear you're less stressed. Much dust to the drugs kicking everything into gear!!!! Enjoy your trip this weekend if we don't hear back from you before then!

Steal- How are you feeling post colpop? I know you had a rough time afterwards, so I want to see how you're feeling ::hugs::

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Male Mo-jo factoid of the day (stolen from male health dot co dot uk)

I know the little wrigglers make babies but how?

Well, it's quite a feat - a 300,000,000 to 1 shot.

Sperm are tadpole-shaped and about 0.05mm long. From puberty onwards, at least 1,000 sperm a minute are manufactured in the testicles. They take about two and half months to mature and spend the last couple of weeks in the epididymis.

Sperm swim at six inches a second but at the point of ejaculation they are propelled a lot faster - about 28mph along with the rest of the seminal fluid. Two minutes after entering the female, they're at the cervix and five minutes later at the fallopian tubes. During the most fertile part of the female menstrual cycle (when the egg is released - usually between the 12th and 18th day), this journey is much easier because at this time there is plenty of fertile mucus around for the sperm to live off. They can survive like this for a week.

The average ejaculation contains 200-300 million sperm but it only takes one to fertilise the egg. (Just as well as only about 40 of them will get anywhere near the end of the race.)

I found the numbers in this quote really interesting.

As for an event that will not be mentioned...there was an oral presentation and based on the foresight of possible dividends a deposit was wired directly to the holding bank account. It is hoped that a second donation will be offered today.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Steal ooooh... good plan that! Hope it works!! Those numbers are interesting. I had no idea only 40 little dudes make it up to where the egg is. I thought it was in the thousands. That explains why DTD more often is better -- with so few guys actually making it up there with each try, each additional deposit counts!

Yeah, I wonder if the 40 count is accurate - this was just a general website not "tried and tested guaranteed sperm facts dot com". I'm glad we did what we did, because I tested not 15 mins ago and I can barely distinguish a pink link on the OPK. So in less than 24 hours I have surged and gone...poof! I don't know if DH will be up to anything tonight, he had a long day at work and it isn't over yet :blackeye: - but if I can convince him I will. TMI alert, if any of you ladies had the 'pleasure' of a cervical biopsy there is a side of extra fun - the silver nitrate they cauterise the cervix with drops and falls out of the vagina over a number of days. It reminds me of a bad dentist my ex saw a lifetime ago - when he came out having had a filling done he kept spitting out bits of the filling which had been left in the mouth. That is what it is like....nice! So would you give me a go :naughty: with my sexy metal droppings?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Steal, we should totally make the KTFUBC Club. :appl: Thank you a lot for your support, you always bring the best to this tread, I love all you posts. You got to promise not to leave this tread after you get KTFUBC ;))

dC, What an amazing weekend going to TN and watching your favorite team. I'm so glad you were able to reschedule your appointment on Monday. Have fun in the game.

dreamer, thank you for the tip. I will definitely need some brownies but for the after :naughty: with some ice-cream :lickout:

Princess, than you for the dust, I will need it :D

I have a question  : What is the best position for deeper penetration?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Great facts Steal, and OMG I am cracking up! Glad you made a deposit in hopes of future dividends:-) Sounds like your portfolio is quite strong

Gaby-Booooo! Sorry it is CD 2 and hope that you are doing ok!

DC-Can't wait to hear how this cycle goes for you!

Ryan-I am on pins and needles waiting to hear your beta!!!!

CD 16 here. I am pretty sure I O'd yesterday morning b/c my CF was mostly gone yesterday and totally gone today, we BD late at night on CD 10/11 (I can't remember which and I forgot to mark it on FF) CD 13 and CD 15 (we were still too tired in the morning :naughty: ) So....we'll see. We definitely got some swimmers where they should be at the right time  I think next month we're going to try harder and maybe bust out the smiley face OPKs again :cheeky: I haven't POAS in months, while I love not feeling stressed, I do miss having a better clue when I O and darnit I like seeing the smiley face...

Anywho...

Baby cement all around, and and extra load of it to Ryan :appl: :appl: :wavey: :appl: :appl: ;))

You what is a.m.a.z.i.n.g : basset hound, Or if you don't like him behind you (you don't know what you are missing!) deep stick or deep impact or deck chair etc IMHO if you haven't yet, give basset hound a try..omg, thank me tomorrow! If you are reading this - and quote me please don't quote this text or make it black, TIA.

Edit: I went though my web favourites and this site is fantastic - it even has a little animation! sex info 101 dot com I actually can't take credit for it, DH found it and boy am I grateful....

Edit#2, I changed my post because you can just look up the positions on the site

Edit#3 also folded deck chair

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Steal and Gaby: Hmm ditto Steal though I have never known a name for it. Also, in that position, arch your back to lift the tuckus in the air a little to add to the fun. But if you are asking for TTC related reasons, Gaby, I am pretty certain that depth of penetration does not matter at all 8) But if you are asking for other reasons, well, get er going!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Dreamer: I understood depth was an issue and that is why woman on top is not preferred for TTC? If that isn't true then I owe DH an explanation...

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Steal: I think penetration is actually very deep with woman on top because gravity shortens the length of the vajayjay canal! Rather, I think woman on top is no good because gravity makes it harder for the swimmers, and I don't know about you, but in that position when you... ummm... dismount... everything basically pours right out again! So woman on top seems like a no-no TTC position for many reasons other than depth. Unless the man has a very short penis or the woman a very deep vajayjay or by "shallow penetration" the woman means like an inch or two of penetration, seems to me that most positions would get the tip of the penis pretty darn close to the cervix for all TTC intents and purposes? But I could be wrong. I have not really researched this topic :read:

edited to add first sentence.

All day today I have had the most serious feeling like AF is on her way -- you know that "full" slightly crampish feeling in the lower abdomen? But when I check, nada, except that is seems I have more watery type CF coming along. Now, this could mean AF is on her way or is could be an early pregnancy sign. Here is hoping for the latter! I am 10 DPO and except AF tomorrow.
