The Official TTC Thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thinking of you Pancake. Sticky dust. I know it's impossible to not worry, but Elle has a very good point about the spotting. Keep us posted what the docs say.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks Elle and LC. I know this could be implantation spotting (esp as I don't know my dates) but it's hard not to freak out esp as I did have some pain at the time. I think I carry a lot of transgenerational baggage from my mother's multiple miscarriages and even though I know that isn't hereditary, I think I am sort of pre-conditioned (by myself, not my mum!) to think the worst. I have taken the day off work and I'm going to get up soon and get my blood tests. Presumably, if my HCG is now sky-high then it will be less of a worry, if it's borderline I'll need a repeat in a couple of days, and if it's low then it will be clear that I've had a MC.

My husband has been amazing and keeps reminding me that even if this doesn't work out, we'll be fine - and we now know we can conceive on our own.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Pankcake, I hope your beta results were reassuring. I'm glad your husband is being so supportive. Thinking of you!

Ally, I have no experience with wondfo hpts other than a couple BFNs. I don't remember seeing any evaporation line.... It would probably be too early if you are right about your cycle day, but crossing my fingers for you!

MQ, congrats on your smiley. It's always a welcome sight! I'm a dork and sometimes eject it and reinsert it just to see the smiley face again.

LC, I'm kind of a tomboy at heart, so I enjoy working in the yard and it gives me a chance to hang out with DH all day. He does most of the hard labor, and I mainly assist him with the lighter labor and bring him various tools and equipment when he needs it. I was also able to work on my tan :)

So, I have a confession. I suspected O was approaching, so I POAS after work tonight and got a smiley. I have no control I swear, but I just wanted to know when to expect AF mainly. I vowed not to tell DH about the smiley, and I didn't have to because he wanted to BD anyway. Funny story, just as we were um finishing, the tornado sirens sounded. So, we had to jump up quickly and see what was going on. I didn't do my usual lying around for awhile before getting up, so who knows if it did any good, but since I'm technically not trying this month, that's okay.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Pancake it does not sound like an mc to me. I had spotting at 12 weeks, and it was due to constipation and... ummm... straining  Friends of mine have had it from sex. My "spotting" was dark brown, did not require a pad and could only be seen on the TP and internally. My midwives said that is not even considered spotting. They also told me that unless you are having significant red blood that requires a panty liner, it is not really cause for concern, and even less so if brown and it stops on its own. But hopefully a little reassurance can be offered from the tests you are having.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Girls - good news.

I had my bloods done this morning. My beta-HCG was somewhere around 26,000 (reassuring) and then I went on to have a scan this afternoon which was entirely normal! Estimated gestation 6 weeks+1 day, no subchorionic bleeding seen and a good heartbeat of 105bpm. gestational sac to the right of the fundus, corpus luteum on the left. I have never had any imaging of any sort for anything before, it was kind of novel for me even though I request imaging on my patients and review films all the time!!

I am over the moon! Thank you all for your thoughts and support. I appreciate it more than you can know, especially as the only people who know irl are me, my husband, my mother and one of my best friends (who drove me across town for my ultrasound today).

I am to have my next scan at 8 weeks, and I need to book a hospital (already!) and an obstetrician in the next few days.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hey all. Thanks for asking about the trip to Chicago! And welcome to all the new faces, I'm not sure I can even keep track!!

It was a BLAST. I adore Better Than Ezra and Kevin Griffin so much that I can't even stand it. They put on such a good shoooowwww!!! DH caught 3!! of the guitar picks they tossed, but I was nice enough to give two of them away to other women who were super disappointed to miss out. Made me feel like a good person, hahaha. Then the next day I lost mine taking my phone out of my pocket in downtown Chicago!! ;( BUT! I realized it as we were leaving brunch, and retraced my steps and I found it almost right away! What are the freakin odds?!?!

LC, we had brunch at Yolk! It was sooooo good, I can't wait to go back to Chicago so I can eat there again, hahaha. When I was flipping through the brochure at the hotel I saw it, and then I saw on Yelp that they had Red Velvet french toast?! So I knew I had to go there, although I could never eat a whole order of that, I'd like to go sometime with friends and get one for the table so I can try it!! Thanks for the recs though. And we had dinner at Bistronomic, if you haven't been there you should totally give it a try.

So of course I have been super upset and kind of bitter that everyone seemed to be getting pregnant but me... I had a glass of wine and a beer on Friday, and then Saturday I had... well, let's just say that I had a LOT of wine  and I had a glass last night too...

So of course, this happens this morning:

katyomfg2.jpg

I really hope that stuff about not sharing a blood supply this early is true!! And I am sitting here waiting for DH to wake up so I can tell him so I'm not the only one freaking out. NEL getting her + made me test over the weekend and it was - so I was sure that this wasn't our month... oops. I guess I know not to count myself out until the fat lady sings, eh? You know what works just as well as clothes shopping?! Buying a bunch of OPKS, pregnancy tests, and a basal thermometer so you can better chart your next cycle. Ahahaha!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Whoa congrats Katy!!!! You went to Chicago, caught some picks, AND a BFP! How lucky is that! Good for you!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy! OMG so fantastic!!!!!! :appl: The not sharing blood supply thing is TOTALLY true. Don't worry about it. But no more drinking.. :(sad Sounds like you had a fantastic weekend!! I'm so glad! Next time you come into Chicago you should totally do a massage @ New School of Massage. They're really *quite* good and it's so cheap. It's my dirty little habit.

Pancake, I'm over the moon for you to!!! Congrats on the your 6wk U/S! How freaking great was it to see?

Ally, how's the 2WW?

AMC, did your temp stay up?

Missy, glad you're not getting any symptoms coming off HBC. Or I hope you get the "good" symptoms, e.g. loosing wait and increased sex drive. :)

Monkey, you're doing a great job being zen. You really are. You're so nice to do all that yard work. I told DH that I am NOT doing yard work. He said that's fine 'cause he's not cooking. So it works out I guess. Except we live in a condo right now with no yard.

~LC

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

No more drinking is right!!!! DH and I just bought a Sodastream (OMG IT IS AMAZING) so I have a feeling I'll be living on diet cran/raz and diet grapefruit soda this summer when I feel the need for something fizzy  And I swear I will get a massage next time... we had to get back to town for the big fundraiser we attended on Sat night (where I tried to drown my poppy seed in wine :(sad )

NEL, I think this means we would have the same due date!! How fun!!!

I am very excited, but extremely cautious at the same time. I think that if I make it to the 6 week mark I might tell my momma and maybe a close friend or two, but I'm not even going to tell the friend I told last time around until things are much further along!

Symptomatically, I think I'm feeling a few twinges (wouldn't call them cramps, really) and I have been a little tired, although not the way I was last time! I think the only thing I have noticed before the BFP that was similar to last month was that I can't seem to eat a normal portion without being crazy full too soon! I know your digestive system slows down to make sure nutrients get to the poppy seed, but sheesh!

pancake, I am so incredibly thrilled for you that it was just spotting. I know it's totally common but it must be so scary. Congrats on the great levels and happy little bean!!

Ally and MP, thinking of you. Hoping we will all be fat and happy together soon.

Lizzy, hope you're having a wonderful time on your vacation!!

Missy, thank you so much for your thoughts!

HOT, Mannequin, hoping for good things SOON for the both of you!!

amc, good luck with the pups. They are TOO CUTE, although I don't know how you're doing it!! Puppies are such hard work!

sba, hoping everything is good with you.

So... have to find creative ways to hide the fact that I won't be drinking when one of my close friends and her new BF come to dinner. I think the great glass-switching caper is the way to go. Hah!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congratulations Katy! Thinking super sticky thoughts for you!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats Katy (and Pancake - I knew it :))!! You ladies are making getting KU look way too easy! PS dust works I guess!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ok Katy, now you're just showing off! Congratulations! Super sticky vibes coming your way!

And Pancake, that's excellent news! Congrats again!

KATY! Way to keep the BFP train coming!!! I am sending you EVERY ounce of sticky vibe I can muster!! Sticky, sticky, sticky!!!!!!

Happy for you, girl!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Yay, Katy! Congrats! :appl:

And great news from you too, Pancake! What a relief. =)

No more smileys for me this morning, but I did get them at 3, 6, and 11 pm yesterday. Felt a lot of lower left abdomen activity, sharper pains to mild crampy feelings, for almost four hours. Maybe I just never paid attention to this or being on the pill for almost ten years made me forget about O pains! BD late last night, even though Hubs and I were both pooped from working on one of our rental houses. Once more today for insurance, and we should be entering the TWW. I hope we caught the egg!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Mannequin - thanks for the welcome!

Pancake - so glad to see that your blood results and scan were good. It must have been very scary for you but hopefully now that you have seen the scan you can rest a little. Thank you for the good luck. I look forward to watching your progress on the other thread. It's nice to have another Aussie around. :))

LC - he he, yeah it was kind of obvious so I thought I may as well jump in. ::) How are you going? Has the news sunk in a bit more now?

Ally - thanks! Yeah that was me  I could have ended up with POAS -itis but unfortunately (or fortunately?) amazon won't ship the OPKs out of the US (im in Australia) so that kind of put an end to that idea. I had a look in the local chemist and the prices were ridiculous so I think I'm going to hold off as long as possible (or until I figure out another way to smuggle them into the country  )
I don't know anything about the wondfo hpt's except that I POAS at the end of last cycle and there was absolutely no evap line (I checked, like 20 times) ;))

monkeyprincess - thanks for the welcome :) I'm sorry that you have been feeling a bit down by the whole process and I totally understand what it feels like to want something and want it yesterday. I'm sending you heaps of positive thoughts and I'm sure it will be your time soon. I'm kind of in the same boat in that we are 'trying' but technically 'not trying', does that make sense? Its really hard not to think about it 24/7 even though you are supposed to be going about your business and if it it happens, great, but if it doesn't, that's ok too. It's hard.

Missy - hi! It looks like we both 'came out' about the same time. Yep, theres no hormones in the sugar pills. I went off BCP last October and the biggest change I noticed was to my skin! :knockout: 7 months later and it's finally settling down. hopefully you won't have any side effects other than getting KU!

Katy - wow! Congratulations :appl: don't worry about the alcohol too much. As already mentioned you are not sharing blood yet and I'm sure it's mother natures way of protecting the little poppy seed against things when mothers don't even know they are KUed yet. I'm
Sending you heaps of sticky dust!

Hello to everyone else!

AFM I had some bloods come back from the dr. My immunity for rubella and chickenpox is good and my blood work was normal. But I think my iron levels may have been a little on the low side? My level was 9 and the range given was 5 - 30. He told me to come back in if my immunity needed boosting for a vaccination but he never said what to do if my iron was low (if it even is low) so I'm not too sure what I should be doing about that.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy: OMG!! Congratulations! :appl: :appl: :appl: Sending you tons of sticky dust! So cool that you and NEL will have the same due date! Way to keep the BFP train going!

Pancake: What great test numbers! I hope you can relax a bit now :))

Monkey: Yay for a smiley! I would've gone crazy not knowing when to expect AF, so I'm glad you POAS at the right time! As for laying down after BD, I've heard it's not really necessary as the little guys are already on their way  Hopefully now you're in the TWW with me!

Missy: Welcome! I really like TCOYF and hope you'll get much use out of it. Are you TTC this cycle? You could pull a "Pancake" this cycle and get pregnant right off the bat :cheeky:

MQ: Sounds like you're joining Monkey and I in the TWW! Yay!! This was the first cycle I used the smiley and once I got it, I was definitely paying more attention to all the little twinges and cramps. Hope you catch that eggie!

HOT: No OPks is a blessing in disguise. I only started using them last cycle and have since become addicted! Looking at the lines and trying to figure out if they're as dark or darker than the control line was driving me crazy, but I can't give them up now  Re: your iron level, I would just call the dr and ask. There are iron supplements you can take - I like SlowFe bc it didn't make me constipated like some of the other ones.

AMC: Did you get another high temp today?

LC: I have to admit it was getting pretty lonely in the TWW so I'm glad to have Monkey, MQ and AMC join me  6DPO today and am fighting the urge to pack some HPTs. I saw that you and NeL have started posting in the JBP thread but haven't had time to catch up on how you ladies are doing. Heading over there ...

NEL: :wavey: Hope you're doing well!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Pankcake and Katy- Yay!! :)

Okay, so I'm thoroughly confused right now. Take a look at this OPK and tell me what you think:

Positive, right? Nope! Followed up with a digi and no smiley face. Which is weird. Because it is the exact same color and thickness as the control line (at least in person it is).

lliang_chi|1308656688|2950916 said:
AMC, did your temp stay up?

Yes! Here's my chart-

So now I'm in the WTF is going on stage. It appears I ovulated based on the higher temps...but the positive OPKs don't really coinside with the temp shift. And I never felt O pains this month, and I always get them. So I have no idea what's happening.

And to add to the fun, I'm pretty sure it's going to be one of those days. Woke up with a killer head ache (which I still have). Then walked out the door for work with my flip flops on...almost got to my car before realizing it and had to go back and put actual work shoes on.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Katy!!! EEEEEEEeee! I've been checking this thread and hoping for an update from you! I was worried that my super-crazy-early BFP might make you worry about getting a negative test (I completely understand), but it's only 12dpo, so your positive is right on track! I'm so excited for you, I"m sending you super, duper, duper sticky dust this time around. And yes, it seems like our due dates would be the same (for now). According to the calculators, with a 6/9 ovulation date, the due date is 3/1/12, so we're at risk of having a leap year babies :) The JBP thread is going to be hoppin'!

MP, hehehe, I can't blame you for sneaking in a test. And congrats for the well-timed (and dramatic!) BDing! I wouldn't worry too much about not lying down afterward. I would always have to jump into the shower immediately after BDing (all of our sessions were morning sessions and I needed to get to work!) and I've heard many times that it makes no difference whether your lie down or not. Hopefully you can stay laid back during the 2WW, you've done a great job of being laid back this cycle!

Pancake, I'm so glad this was just a minor scare for you--how great that you got to hear the heartbeat! I'm hoping the rest of your first trimester is non-stressful!

Ally, I know you asked about the Wonfo HPTs having an evap line. I've heard they can, but that the line is not pink/purple, it's a super faint grey. That being said, I've never seen an evap line on mine (I tested a time or two last cycle and once this cycle with negatives). How was the temp today?

amc, did your temp drop today? Any more smileys? ETA: I just saw you posted. It may be that you're Oing today. What are your post-O temps usually?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

AMC: Wow, I am confused too! How can that not be positive?

NEL: Temp went up today to 97.97 (temped about 30 mins before normal time) so I'm happy with it. No symptoms except for extreme tiredness a couple of days ago. And no more testing until 14DPO for me! I'm going to try to be strong and not pack any HPT. If it doesn't happen this cycle, I'm ready for the next one!

I know, right? I'm half tempted to put it into ff as a positive...but I guess I'll just go by what the digi says...

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

HOT, I agree with Ally that it may be a good thing not to have wondfos readily available. You are doing a much better job of not trying than I am. Really the only thing I’m doing differently this cycle is not temping, but that was confusing for me anyway. Are you taking prenatal vitamins with iron? Maybe that would help. Hopefully your laid back approach does the trick quickly for you.

Ally, it would be hard not to bring along HPTs for me too. Really hoping this is it for you! I don’t think I’m quite in the 2WW, but I will probably be joining you tomorrow and it looks like MQ may already be in the 2WW!

Amc, it looks like you probably ovulated the first day you got your smiley. I think you can ovulate 12 hours after getting one. Maybe you have a really sensitive batch of wondfos and that’s why they still appear positive. Anyway, if your temp stays up again, it looks like you ovulated, so that’s good. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you’re still avoiding for now right?

NEL, glad to hear you got your BFP without too much lying around. I just like to feel like I’m doing everything I can to help the little guys because we need all the help we can get! But I too have heard that it probably doesn’t make that much difference.

MQ, it’s amazing how much more you pay attention to your body when you’re TTC, isn’t it? You had great timing, so I hope you catch that egg!

Lizzy, hope you’re doing well and enjoying your month off! Can’t wait until you are able to start trying again!

AFM, I think I finally know what they mean by EWCM. I thought I had a little bit last month, but after seeing the real stuff today, I don’t think I did. Hopefully that means my fertility is finally fully kicking in now. As you can see, I’m having trouble fully letting go of control. I think it is going to have to be a gradual process.

Okay, I just did some research on the CVS brand OPKs (which is what mine are). They seem to be pretty sensitive...so next month I will try a different brand. And yes, still avoiding...so the temps are free to rise as long as they come back down in ummm 12 days or so :)

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

amc- that looks dark to me, but I also seem to suck at reading opks, so what do I know? But I am sending good thoughts your way that it is a +

NEL- I am SO SO excited for you! that is so awesome.

Pancake- So glad that the doctor was reassuring and its going well!

Katy- the digital was so exciting to see. I broke out into a huge smile. Congrats!

Sorry for anyone I missed- I have been MIA but lurking. DH asked if I would take a break from baby related websites as I had a bit of a breakdown. This is the only one I even dare to lurk on now. So we just came from my doctor- he is sending me to a RE who sounds amazing after I googled him. My doc did say it is a little early, but there is something going on with me and he could run the blood test, but he said when he saw two people in front of him who look like they are suffering, he didn't think we needed to be in pain. So I got an appt with the RE on the 30th which is so close and they will start doing a work up. I am feeling happily optimistic, although I admit I was hoping he could somehow wave his magic wand or he would have walked in and said, 'oh your urine test just gave us a positive!" but no such luck of course. So at least I am not crazy and they did say it sounds like I am not ovulating and both docs said that it is an easy fix in the scheme of things and they think it will all be good in a short time. So here's hoping. I will continue to post and I am going to go catch up on everyone's progress. =)

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Sba I am so sorry you're having a rough time. I can relate. It is hard to focus on TTC so much and see everyone getting BFPs. I'm so glad your appointment went well and that you are able to see an RE. Hopefully this is just a first step in a BFP for you!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi Everyone!

Mannequin - good luck to you, sounds like you timed things pretty well!

Hot - now that you mention it I did notice my skin being a little bit more oily than normal, but then again it is summer time and it’s been more hot than last summer!

Ally – Thanks for the welcome! Yes we are TTC this cycle, but not really stressing too much because we know the first cycle off BC can be a little crazy! I didn’t have anything that I needed until last night (got the OPKS in the mail) to see if I was ovulating or getting ready to ovulate so who knows if we timed anything correctly. Maybe I will pull a “pancake” haha I like that!

I ordered Wondfos from Amazon and they came as “Wanfus” which the seller said are “just another brand name of Wondfo” but I don’t think I like them! They are so tiny and hard to see! I’d say a little over an 1/8” wide and kinda flimsy. Do you ladies recommend waiting til AF comes and then start with the OPKs right after AF is over or should I wait til like CD10 since I have no clue how long my cycles are?? (Or maybe see a BFP and it won't matter!!!!).

Of course it's the first day of summer today and I have a stuffy nose and sneezing. Grr!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats Katy!! And NEL!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

AMC I would trust the temps personally, which if your temp stays up suggests O on CD 14. OPKs are problematic for lots of women. TCOYF talks a lot about them. I'd shelf them and learn to assess your CF.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats Katy and good news pancake!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Wow, what a baby boom!! Congrats everyone!!

Major sticky dust to you all!!

Everyone else, I'm praying for ya! I regularly check this thread and I have been rooting for you all... keep the faith. It will happen!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Monkey, Hooray on the EWCM! That's fantastic! Dreamer swears by that as the best fertility sign. And she's our resident charting expert. :)

AMC, Also second Dreamer on the CM as a sign too. At least have an idea of what to look for will help clear some confusion around O dates. But in my opinion that totally looks like a positive. I had the same thing happen to me, where my Wondofo looks totally positive but CBE was a big fat ZERO.

SBA, sounds like you have a pretty decent plan in place. How awesome you have a great doctor!

MQ sounds like you hit some really good timing this month. Hoping you have a good 2WW.

HOT, I have low iron too. I think I registered a 9 on my last count which is *just* on the cusp of low and normal (at least at my doctor's office). I know some prenatals have iron in them. Maybe that'll help. Otherwise I'd suggest VitB or B-12. That should help with iron absorption

Missy, those Wondofos are TEENY TINY. I pee in a tiny cup (shot glass) and dip the Wondofos in there. Word of adivce, don't toss the cup of urine until you're done with testing.
