The Official TTC Thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Enbc, lots of dust and prayers that everything is just fine! I think as long as it's not fresh blood and stays brown, it's really going to be okay. :) I'm so glad you had a much more positive experience with your RE! That receptionist needs a little lesson in tact and professionalism. :nono:

Bright my dear, I'm SO hopeful for you. I want both of us to have December babies!

JGator, woohoo for a heartbeat! It's so nice to have all these positive posts around here. ::) I think your Lent excuse is PERFECT! I wouldn't even think twice about it personally. If they know you're TTC you can just say that you gave it up for Lent and because you're trying to cut back on caffeine, alcohol, etc. to be healthier.

MLK what an adorable picture, way too cute!! I'm sorry about CD1 but hope that this month proves to be a productive one for you. :rodent:

I'm sure I'm missing people but in the spirit of trying to spend less time TTC trolling, I'm trying to keep it brief...however...

AFM: Alright, I confess. I simply cannot give up temping. I'm doing my best though to just take the temps and not obsess about them. I promised myself that I wouldn't break out the sticks at 8DPO like I have every single month since November though and that's not changing! I hate it when I know it's late enough to get a bfp and it's a bfn because then it's just waiting for the inevitable AF. That's the worst! So yeah, trying to avoid that this month.

MP -- not to pry but are you taking prometrium orally or the other way? i'm curious about the difference in absorption. glad you're able to start stepping back off of that, though!

Enb, I don't think anything is too personal on this thread :) I'm taking the prometrium the other way. Honestly, it is not bad at all. I use it once a day before I go to bed. In the morning, there is some discharge, but it is not that bad at all. I've had zero problems with build-up. The hardest part for me has been remembering to use it, especially now that it is only every other night.

So sorry the spotting hasn't completely stopped yet. So frustrating, especially since spotting can go either way. Just know that we're all holding onto hope for you and praying those betas keep going up!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Jgator, woo hoo!!! So glad you saw baby & a strong hb. I hope you're feeling better & more relaxed but totally understand wanting to get to the 10 week mark to feel more at ease. I think giving up wine for lent is a great excuse.  Have fun with your company!

Aw, missy, thanks for checking in on me. How are you? Hope you're feeling well & baking away! I love your monkey nursery.

Speaking of monkeys, mp, happy to read about your good progress too. I guess it was odd re: the clomid that I am having different symptoms this time but I'll try not to read much into it. (We'll see how that goes!)

Enbc, sorry to hear you're still spotting. That's good that it's brown though & your high beta is really encouraging. Spotting can be perfectly normal, especially early in pregnancy right? Still stressful, though & I hope it stops soon. Are you getting another beta? Dust to you!

Tammy, that would be great it we both had December babies! (Actually, it would not be my preferred month, but at this point I'll take a baby when I can get one!)
Temping is a really hard habit to break & it's nice to have all of the data. If you are feeling more at ease about things, that's the key!

Jen, any updates? Thinking of you & sending good vibes.

Afm, forgot to mention that af has backed down to a more reasonable level. Yay!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

MP -- thanks for sharing your experience with prometrium! it seems like folks have way less of a buildup problem with that option.

tammy -- thanks so much! i really wish it had only been a receptionist i spoke with, but it was a nurse!?! anyway don't be too hard on yourself for still temping/testing. its really really hard to feel in control of ANYTHING in this whole process, and these little bits we can hold onto and feel in control of are difficult to relinquish.

Jgtaor -- i think your lent excuse is good. i'm wondering what to do when we go visit the inlaws and see all their friends at this wedding next weekend (hopefully i'll still be 'afflicted' at that point!). i've seriously considered telling them that i'm waiting for a liver transplant just to see the looks on their faces. but then i realized someone in the brides family died of liver disease, so i'll have to come up with another excuse. DH and i are still debating about whether he will continue to abstain (he'd not been drinking in the hopes of eliminating anything that might possibly impede his end of this whole dance). he's the best man, and generally does drink socially, so it might be really awkward for him. we'll see.

Bright -- i'm glad AF is ebbing! next beta is scheduled for Monday. in theory i could get another tomorrow, but it seems a little pointless since based on the first they know where it should be on Monday if its behaving. i'm trying to back off the testing just a little because it makes me so anxious and they really can't do anything if it looks bad, and it doesn't tell them much about why things go wrong.

AFM, still spot central over here, still freaking out. indulged in some lunchtime retail therapy (2 pair of spring/summer shoes!). still swinging between cautiously optimistic and horribly panicked and depressed. what a roller coaster -- all you ladies who have been there before you are all so brave!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

JGator -- woooo! Just popping in to see how it went and I am SO HAPPY to see the great news! Very exciting! What is your EDD at this point? Love the lent excuse...totally works. Or just get some non-alcoholic vino like I did during the holidays and trick everyone! So glad things went well - you're preggo! Congrats lady. :appl:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Meg and MP, the EDD is either Nov 3 or Nov 6 depending on if it's calculated using LMP or O date. I triggered on CD 10 and O'ed on either CD 11 or 12. The RE never gave me a due date - just said everything is measuring fine/on track. I think next week at the OB they might give me something more definitive.

enbcfsobe, I hope you're still "afflicted" at your wedding next month. I'm sure you will come up with a good excuse by then. Or, you can drink something that looks like a cocktail but is really just juice and sparkling water.

AFM, thanks for all the well wishes. The giving up drinking for Lent excuse worked for tonight. I have to get through tomorrow and then a new set of out of town friends shows up on Sunday. The next set of friends are more suspicious types so we'll see how that goes.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

As of today DH and I are officially trying!!!!

Just wanted to share with my PS friends. I'm so excited.

Woooo! It's so funny, because just a few weeks/maybe a month or so ago you were thinking summer/fall and here you are! Welcome!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

WOOHOO! Welcome to the neurotic side, Haven!

Meg, that's about how DH and I were. I think it's pretty common to say "what the heck" once you have a soonish date to start TTC. ;))

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Tammy, I agree. We jumped the gun by a few months too and I think it's just so exciting to think about such a major life change.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi Ladies, Monday here so back to work, at least it has slowed down finally for me.

Enbc, yay for good numbers. Still thinking positive thoughts for you. I hope you will be graduating to JBP and then the preggo thread very shortly!

JGator, cute pic of bubs. Now we can officially wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Welcome Haven! I find it amazing how it is such a hard decision for some to TTC (my husband amongst one of them) but it seems like once they jump that mindset hurdle it is full stam ahead. I hope your stay here is short!

Bright, how did your u/s go? Have you started Clomid?

Tammy, how is the not thinking about TTC going?

Dandi, haven't seen you around here lately, how is youw TWW?

Jen, any news? We are all thinking of you and sending you our best wishes.

Hi to everyone else.

AFM, CD5 here. Nothing much happening, I just hope that I don't O so late as last cycle which was CD23. It will be interesting to see how compliant DH is this time, as he is not usually an every day for a week type of person! I also ordered a batch of opks from a different online supplier, so I hope they work as well as the others did for me. Also I will be buying plently of grapefruit next week!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

JGator, so glad you got to head into the weekend with good news! :appl:

Bright, I hope AF has eased up on you. My first period was a little rough if I recall but, since then, they've been oddly *better*. I used to get nasty cramps and PMS and now - not so much. DH still swears he can see my period coming from a mile away though!

Haven, welcome to the dark side! I hope it's a fun ride!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi gorgeous girls! I'm soooooooooooooo sorry I've been MIA agaaaaaain, just been crazy busy as usual. Tomorrow I will endeavour to type up a proper post! I turned 30 today so am busy catching up with friends for breakfasts, lunches, afternoon coffe and cake... I'll be like the side of a bus soon! ::) I'm on CD26 today and am feeling VERY pre-AFish, blah! Right on track for my usual 28 day cycle. Grrr.

Also I just wanted to give a big warm wecome to Haven! Welcome to the fun!! :wavey:

I know! It's strange how quickly things can change, huh?

DH and I hadn't been talking about it much lately, but then yesterday we were in the car and I said, "I'm ready to make a baby with you." And he said, "You want to start now?" I said, "Yeah, I could start now." And he said, "Me, too."

And that was that.

We were on our way to a bookstore, so we browsed the pregnancy section and had fun giggling together about our new big plans. We didn't buy any books because there were too many available that it was overwhelming. I'm back in this thread to comb through to find everyone's recommendations. I already have TCOYF, but that's it. We haven't exactly been doing any real planning for this, but I'm super excited.

Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone! I'll figure out what all of these acronyms mean sooner or later. :cheeky:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Haven -- welcome!!! hope your stay here is short!

Dandi -- Happy Birthday, lady!! hope you're having a fab time and not worrying too much about the tww. you've still got a few days, so fingers crossed!

mlk -- here's hoping for a shorter cycle for you this time! funny about guys -- DH was totally gung-ho about the every day idea until my O signs were confusing and it just got exhausting!! hope we can all get back to enjoying bd-ing without worrying about the b part of it soon!!

jgator -- hope you're still cooking along and your Lent excuse is still working. we used a "health kick" as an excuse at dinner the other night (and were so releived when the food our friends prepared didn't have any no-no's on it). i've changed my wedding dinner order from "spicy vegetarian" to "non-spicy vegetarian" given that the other option is fish and i've had epic gas without spicy food!!! how i'll be an inconspicuous non-drinker in this beer-and-scotch swilling crowd i don't know, but i'll try!

megumic -- your non-alcoholic wine idea reminds me that i will hopefully need to make sure we bring extra grape juice to passover!

bright -- glad AF is making her exit. sounds like you are already back on plan for this month. i'm so pulling for you!

everyone else i missed a big HELLO! and thanks again for all your support!!

AFM, the spotting finally stopped on Saturday and today's beta was 1595 (up from 320 on Thurs, which means it seems to be doubling properly). I don't have much in the way of symptoms other than thirstiness, slightly increased peeing (prob due to drinking more), general fogginess (prob due to the distraction of worrying over this), and fatigue (prob due to losing sleep over the worry!). Oh, and some bloating (not sure how that's going to work out with my super-fitted dress that i bought to wear to this wedding in a fit of frustration during my last m/c). The betas definitely are making me feel a bit better (by far the highest i've ever hit), though i've also had 3 doubled results and tanked on the 4th. Because i skipped one this time Wednesday's test will be the equivalent of the 4th one. I'm coping with the crinone for now, though its not my favorite its not quite as bad as last time yet. I'll give it another week and see where we're at...just still trying to take it a bit at a time. I'm still not sure I'll do the last beta, but i probably will just so i know. We'll already be on our way out of town by the time i get results.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Enb, just had to chime in to cheer you and your little bean on! So happy to hear the spotting stopped and your numbers are doubling appropriately and have gotten higher than ever before! This is all very encouraging. I know you are still feeling cautious which is to be expected, but I so hope your luck has finally turned around with this little one! Lots of dust headed your way!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

MP -- thanks so much!! i hope you're feeling okay still! i'm still quite cautious but hoping i'll be able to join you over on jbp soon!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Haven, welcome. I hope your stay is short and sweet.

enbcfsobe, glad to hear about your Beta. Sounds like things are progressing nicely! Everything worked out fine on Sunday with the 2nd set of company. We went to a friends for lunch and another old friend and her family from out of state were there. My friend made lunch - all things I could eat - and did not serve alcohol. So, it worked out perfectly. Got through a weekend seeing 3 friends and their families with no issues.

AFM, thinking about dipping my toe in the JBP thread since I'm over 8 weeks now. I will still be cheering you all on, and I will be sure to pop in to see how things are going with everyone.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi Girls,

I'm home sick today with a nasty tummy bug and "bonus" allergies, so I'm a ball of fun! Anyhow, the TWW is dragging. I'm 9dpo and I just want to fast forward through the next few days. I'm planning to test on 12 dpo and just accept it if/when it's a bfn. Not feeling terribly optimistic, not sure why other than the track record.

Haven, I sooooo loved the "just barely ttc" time. Enjoy it, it's exciting and fun! I hope your stay is short and sweet. :)

Enbc, glad to hear that so far, so good! Everything crossed for you (literally).

Dandi, Happy birthday!! Enjoy 30! It's a good age. ;))

Bright, I'm happy to hear that AF is on her way out for you. Good luck, I'll be here cheering you on! :)

Mlk, Pupp, Jen (hope you're doing ok!!) and anyone else that I missed I hope you're having a good Monday!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hey tammy! Are you feeling any better today hon? So sorry you are unwell, that seriously bites, especially when you've got a 2ww happening too! Grrr. Thanks for the birthday wishes too, I'm quite happy to be 30! Sounds like an awesome age

Bright, I'm so glad AF arrived and is on her way OUT!! I hope she hasn't given you too much grief.

JGator
, WOW 8 weeks?!?! Gosh!! Lady, I'm so rapt all is going well. By all means dip that toe in but do drop in here from time to time, we'll miss you terribly!! That is a seriously cute bubba you have there :wink2:

enbcfsobe, thanks so much for the birthday wishes, I had a great day today and yesterday! My 30th is Saturday night, I dared to think of a tribe of excuses for not drinking iiiiiiif I get a BFP before then, but didn't want to think it over too much of course. I know you're feeling really cautious but I am quitely cheering you and your little bean on, yippee for doubling betas!! Dust dust dust dust dust for that sticky little bean!

Haven
, that's basically how DH's and my conversation re. TTC went! We were in Disneyworld and watching all the kids in total awe of everything, and enjoying such a wonderful experience made us start to long for a little someone to watch grow, experience and learn, it was quite magical to watch. When they weren't screaming from exhaustion or spewing up after too many rollercoaster rides of course. On our last night in the US, I mentioned to DH that I didn't think I would continue the pill when we got home. He said "good, because I really want to be a daddy ASAP". And that was it, and three months later, we're in our 2nd 2ww! Funny dat 8) Good luck!!!

hi mlk! How are you my love?? Sorry I haven't been around much, I can barely get within a bull's roar of my computer these days! Super duper good luck for this cycle hon, I hope you ovulate a bit earlier this time, and that DH doesn't feel too 'used' My DH is loving it, not surprisingly to me, but then after I know I've ovulated I'm like... nah, not interested anymore. Haha, I'm so terrible, the poor guy is as confused as a chameleon in a bag of skittles. He does understand though, or so he says. He's a go with the flow type though. I didn't know about grapefruit, does that have an effect on CM?

Hey Jen, thinking of you, my sweet. Any updates?

monkey, hey love! I hope you and your little bean are doing fantastic! Are you well?

mia, oh my goodness yes! I get such sore nipples during O that I can barely stand to put a bra on, but thankfully it only lasts three(ish) days. Ouch!
Hello to everyone else! :wavey: :wavey:

AFM I'm on CD27 and I *think* 11DPO. I'm feeling a bit crampy and the girls are pretty tender, signs that AF will soon be a-knockin'! I'm being positive though, because you never really know, yah? If AF doesn't show by Thursday (CD29, she usually shows up on DC28) I'll likely test. Although I did O two days late this cycle, so AF might be delayed a bit, because otherwise my LF would be shorter than normal. Aaahhhh my brain hurts!! :rodent: One of my best friends took me out for lunch for my birthday today, bless her. She has a divine 18 month old daughter and I know that she and her DH have been trying for about 9 months for baby #2, and I was beyond thrilled to find out she is 12 weeks pregnant!!!!!!! I'm so so happy for her! Plus she had hoards of OPKs that she now doesn't need so she gave them to me. Good woman. ;))

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

trying to avoid panic, but my temp has slid downward the last 2 days. i can't believe i've gotten so addicted to the bbt so quickly (first month charting!). its still above the coverline, and above where it dipped to before post-o (which was right at coverline). but down around .5 from the highest its been (though who knows how accurate those were given my poor sleeping). maybe its just improved sleep and cooler weather (dropped below freezing here last night). also we switched from flannels to regular sheets on Sunday night. either way, definitely going to get the beta done tomorrow now. there's not much they'd do for me other than give me progesterone, which i'm already on. also have acupuncture tonight so maybe that will help keep things in line. i really am driving myself crazy here.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Haven, welcome! How exciting you guys are ttc ahead of schedule! Hope your stay here is short & sweet.

Mlk, my u/s was fine. I actually just finished my last clomid last night.
Just waiting for my next u/s to see what's going on.
I hope your new batch of opk's works better this month & o gears up sooner.

Pupp, thanks for checking in. For me, af was really horrible for the first 2 days, then eased up considerably. It's still here, though (really light), which is a bit odd for me. Hopefully mine will be better from now on (or, even better, nonexistent for 9 months!)

Dandi, happy 30th! Hope you had a great day!
Cramps & tender bbs can also be early pregnancy symptoms. That's great that your friend is pg & that you scored some free opk's. Here's hoping you won't need them!

Enbc, thanks for pulling for me! Af is taking her sweet time leaving but at least it's not uncomfortable anymore.
Maybe you could go to the bar directly & get something that looks like a drink but isn't.
That's great that your betas are so high, the spotting stopped & the Crinone isn't too bad. Cooler weather or changed sleep patterns can definitely cause your bbt to drop.  Probably a good idea to get another beta just to keep an eye on things. Hugs to you.
I've had similar experiences clothes buying. Either getting something on the baggy side "just in case" or going for fitted when I'm upset. Here's hoping that dress is the last super fitted thing you wear for a while.

Jgator, so glad all is going well & your company didn't suspect a thing!
Continued dust to you. So happy you can finally move on. We'll miss you, though!

Mp, continued good thoughts your way.

Tammy, so sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Boo! I hope you're better soon & that the next few days go quickly. The days right before testing are always the worst! Fingers crossed you have good news to share soon.

Jen, how are you holding up? Any news? Hoping for the best!

Mia, Trekkie, curly, hot, ltl, hope you guys are well. Come out & play!

Afm, I took my last clomid last night. I'm a little worried that I didn't have any side effects this time. (I woke up with night sweats every clomid night last cycle.) Could this mean it's not working this time? I have a follow up u/s on Thursday so I'll have to wait until then to find out more info.
It's cd8 & Af is still lingering. Hoping she makes an exit soon.
We had a nice weekend with the in laws. I got to spend some time with my new niece & she's just divine. Makes me want one even more! It's also so sweet to watch my bil (her dad). She's got him wrapped around her finger already!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Enb, definitely don't panic. I stopped temping a long time before I got my BFP, so I have no idea what my temps did post-BFP. But from everything I've read, temping after you get a BFP is very unreliable. I think it is a good idea for you to get another beta drawn, which hopefully give you some peace of mind. Thinking of you and your little bean.

Hi to everyone else! Tammy, Dani, and anyone else in in the 2WW, I'm rooting for you! Bright, I said this in the other thread, but I really hope this cycle works for you too! And Jen, thinking of you as well.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

thanks for all the input -- i'll be back with less me-centric stuff later.
consensus seems to be i should leave my bbt at home on this trip to avoid descending in to madness.

I think that's a good idea. Pregnancy temps can be erratic & temping might only cause added anxiety. I hope you have a wonderful trip & are starting to feel better soon!
Hugs to you.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Alright ladies...I need some help. I don't want to get all emotional and irrational, but I'm having a really hard time today. :(sad My temps are just like previously failed cycles and at 10 DPO, I'm pretty sure that I'm out.

So, help me if you can. If any of our graduates are lurking (I know you're out there!), do you remember if your charts looked different on your BFP cycles? My gut says yes, it should. My heart doesn't want to listen. This is the hardest month yet, I'm not sure why. I'm sorry for such a me-centric downer post. I just couldn't muster up a fake one and I feel so alone in this right now, I need people to talk to. ;(

Not really, especially before AF was due. The only difference is that after AF was due my temps would stay up. My temp generally didn't drop until a day before AF was due...but it varied quite a bit in the TWW whether I was pregnant or not.

Here are my charts...the first two were cycles before we were trying...the second two were BFP cycles (with the Oct chart, I got my BFP on either 11/3 or 11/4 and then started bleeding on 11/8...I think).

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Big hugs Tammy, having been through countless 2WWs, I know exactly the frustration you are feeling right now. I can't help with the charting question because I gave up on that a long time ago. But I will say that I did not feel any differently the month I got my BFP, and I remember lying in bed and crying on about 9 or 10DPO because I didn't think I'd ever get pregnant. I know it's hard to stay optimistic, but I'm holding out hope for you.

To me, it sounds like you've gotten to a point where you are fed up and ready to move forward. For that reason, if this is not your month, I would really consider speaking with someone who specializes a bit more in fertility if I were you. As you know, I had great luck with a nurse practitioner. It was much less expensive than seeing an RE, and I really felt like she cared about getting me pregnant. It's a big step, but I felt so much better and far less helpless when I was being proactive and trying clomid, etc. DH often says that he thinks we could have gotten pregnant on our own if we kept trying, and he might be right, but I reached a point, where I just couldn't take the disappointment anymore and really needed to speed up the process. Maybe you're not quite there, but it is something to keep in the back of your mind. So sorry you're having a tough day. Just know you're not alone and we are all here to support you.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Tammy, my charts didn't look any different on my 3 BFP cycles out of 10 total cycles charting (1 MC, 1 Chemical, and 1 Current Pregnancy), and I never had any serious symptoms or anything like implantation spotting. My only symptoms were acne, heartburn and gas, but I didn't get the same symptoms each time either. So, I think you should not count yourself out yet.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Tammy, sorry you're feeling down. My BFP chart didn't look much different than my other charts other than AF not arriving. I even spotted like usual but it stopped instead of turning into AF. I've also had some beautiful, triphasic BFN charts!

enbcfsobe, I just checked my pregnancy chart because I continued temping until two weeks after my BFP (I know, I know - shame on me!). Anyway, my temps fluctuated by about .25 degrees. They peaked right around when AF was due then dropped off a little bit.
