The Official TTC Thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Missy, sorry that this cycle just won't end. I'm glad you have the appt. next week. I used to have 50+ day cycles and they drove me crazy--I hope this is just an unusual cycle and you can go back to your shorter cycles. Or better yet, maybe you won't have to think about another cycle :)

Aviastar, congrats to your sister! I used to think that early signs were all in the head, but then I had inexplicable heartburn at 3DPO the cycle I was pregnant and started to wonder (I NEVER had heartburn...unfortunately if it was an early sign, it was a sign of things to come because I had HORRIBLE heartburn the last half of my pregnancy). I think it's great that you're not losing sight of the fact that when it happens, it will be the right time. Sometimes we get caught up in wanting it to happen so badly that we lose sight of the bigger picture. Sending you lots of dust this cycle!

MP, we are definitely going the NTNP route this time around. Last time I was waiting for D to get on board, plus I had 50+ day cycles, so once he gave the green light, I was leaving NOTHING to chance. This time we're on the same page and I have more regular cycles, so I'm happy to go the NTNP route for several months. I was using OPKs to avoid O-time . This month I'm going to stop the OPKs, but still avoid that timeframe, then after this cycle I'll continue not testing, but we'll probably stop avoiding. If nothing has happened by this fall (or even winter), I'll go back to using OPKs. But for this summer, the plan is to just relax and enjoy ourselves. And I actually think I can do it this time!

Wishing you dust on your first NTNP cycle--what's the testing plan while you're NTNP? Wait until you're late?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

NEL, sounds like we have a similar approach and timeline. I don't think I even have any pregnancy tests in the house, so I'm not planning to test unless I'm late. I tend to have shortish cycles and usually have a few days of spotting to warn me AF is on the way, so it's never been that hard to wait. Also, I'm expecting things to take awhile, so I'd honestly be freaked out if it happened quickly, especially since Ev is still so young. Like Aviastar, I'm just trusting it will all fall into place at the right time.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Wow I just popped my head in and am excited to see Missy, NEL, and MP here again!!! You go girls!!! Sending lots of positive baby making dust your way! :appl: :appl: :appl:

And no, I am not ready for #3! Only popped in to say hello to you gals!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Lizzy - How are you? I wasn't planning on ttc this early, but that's how things go sometimes. I miss being a mom and am so anxious to show my love to another baby. It may never feel the exact same way again as I will be extremely paranoid but it will be worth it in the end!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks, NEL and MP! I'm very excited to be an Auntie again! If things go according to plan for us in the next few months my Mom will be happily celebrating three grandbabies in one year- one for each sister! It would be awesome to have a little set of cousins all close in age.

Yea, MP, I know we're kind of an anomaly, though, so I don't want to get attached to the idea that it should be easy, or that it must be the same for me. Of course, I hope that! But really, first month, waiting for AF, my mind is looping in so many circles and I am trying to remember that no one else's story is my story and that's ok, however it turns out this time around (are we sensing a theme yet? CALM DOWN, BRAIN)! :loopy:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Lizzy, I got excited when I saw you post. You say you're not ready to try now, but are you thinking of going for number three at some point? Do you have embryos left over from your IVF? I'm not really trying right now, but since it didn't happen easily for us last time, we decided we are just going to let nature take its course for the next 6 months or so and see what happens, and then we'll go back to the doctor for assistance next fall. Ideally, we would have waited awhile to start trying again, but I'm 32 and DH is 42, so time isn't really on our side, but I really would like to have another baby or two. Hope you are doing well!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ok so last night, tiny bit of red blood streaked in with cm. This morning, feeling a little crampy and more red blood when checking cm (cm looked like ewcm, but it wasn't stretchy). Would this be considered spotting, if it hasn't made it to toilet paper? We'll see what happens. This happened the last time I had a long cycle. I spotted and then a few days later I finally ovulated.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Good luck, Missy! From what I've read, it's not spotting if you only find it internally. You know your body well though and if last time it was the beginning of O, I think it's time to have some fun! :naughty: Good luck!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hope that was a sign of ovulation for you Missy! You need to either ovulate or get your AF already! I tend to get what you descriped before AF arrives, but I never spot at ovulation, so it sounds like this is something different for you. Cheering you on!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Well, the upside is that it sounds like something is happening, Missy! Any changes today? I occasionally spot when ovulating and occasionally spot before AF, so my unhelpful advice is that it could be either :)

Um, I am totally pulling for you, Aviastar!! :)

I do love that you're super aware that this might not be your story, which is really great that you're not setting up some crazy expectation for yourself. That is such a smart way to handle thing! ;))

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Of the times I know I ovulated, I didn't spot at all and never have spotted before AF arrives. It got a little heavier today, somewhere in between spotting and a light flow, no cramps though! If it means ovulation is coming in the next few days it better hurry. I'd hate to go to the doctor to jumpstart AF if I was getting ready to ovulate and didn't know for sure it was going to happen!

Missy, I was confused by your post so I went back to see what happened. I am so sorry lady, really and truly. I am beyond words with grief for you. I can understand your need to try again so soon. When I went through my misarriages one after the other, the only thing that kept me going was pushing on in trying to have a baby. Thinking of you....

MP, I think you have a great plan! Might as well try au natural for a bit before seeking medical help, as we all know that it takes the fun out of it!

As for me, I have three embryos frozen. My DH and I said that we would keep them for a year and then decide what to do. Rowan will be one in July so that date is approaching. I'd keep them forever but we do pay a storage fee which can add up if we don't ever use them. Some days I'd like to try for a third, but other days like today where my 4 year old and myself both have the stomach bug, I wonder how in the heck I would do it with three without pulling all my hair out! For now, still time to decide....

Thanks, Fancy! I haven't tested yet, but no AF either, so I am still in the game! I'm kinda scared to test and since I'm not tracking anything and it's the very first cycle off BC I don't really know exactly when AF should arrive and one day different from last time isn't really late late....so what all that rambling equals is that I am trying to hold out this weekend and not test for a little longer yet.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Avia, when do you think you will you be 'late'? I know you're not really tracking, but do you have a general idea of when to expect AF? I can't wait to hear how it goes!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Yes- my last AF started four weeks ago yesterday. So technically, I've missed that. But most Dr's offices don't consider you late for at least a week. So in an ideal world I would be calm and secure enough to wait till next week

To test or not to test, that is the question!

I can't be the only one who thinks this; TEST!!! Buy one tonight and do it tomorrow morning..it certainly can't hurt!
Are you having any AF signs?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

aviastar - I forgot, were you using ovulation tests? If so when was your positive, what day?? Did you check cm or cp and did you have ovulation pains?

AFM, AF officially came yesterday. So I had an annovulatory cycle. Should I keep my appointment for Tuesday??

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Missy, well, at least that cycle is over, right? I'm sorry it didn't result in a BFP though. Tough call on whether to keep your appointment. Would you feel better giving it another cycle or two to see if your body regulates? You haven't been trying long, and there's probably not much they can do at this point, except maybe do some bloodwork to check hormonal levels. I would call and see what your doctor advises. Hugs to you!

Aviastar, I'm with Missy. It's a little tricky knowing when to test your first cycle off BC if you don't know when and if you ovulated. If you were able to detect that you ovulated about two weeks ago, I say TEST for sure! The tricky part is that even if it is negative, that doesn't necessarily mean you aren't pregnant if you ovulated late. FIngers crossed for you!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Sooooo...are you gonna test?!!? You know you want to! :naughty:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Well, Missy, on to the next cycle. I'm with MP on it being a tough call as to whether to keep the appt.--I jut hope this anovulatory cycle was a fluke and that the next one will be back to normal.

aviastar, how many days are your cycles usually? I'm a fan of testing, but I was never discouraged by a BFN (I figured I'd just keep trying until AF showed up). Some ladies are discouraged by seeing a BFN and would rather hold off until they KNOW they are late. It just depends on which bucket you think you'd fall in. Sending lots of dust to you!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Big hugs, Missy! Honestly, it all depends on how you feel. Personally, I liked getting in sooner when things weren't textbook for me. It gave me a sense of empowerment and calmed my nerves a bit. Not everyone is like that though! I think there are valid points for waiting (just off of BC, you've gotten pregnant before) and valid points for getting the ball rolling (anovulatory and irregular cycles). The good news is, since you've gotten pregnant without many cycles of well timed trying, it seems like you're only issue is getting your body to ovulate. That's the easiest part for a doctor to help with, if needed! :))

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Fancy: Um, yeeees? But no. Some cramps/random twinges; slight nausea daily-it comes and goes, never been sick; bloating; super greasy hair/face. Some of these are normal AF signs for me, some are not, but usually for the cramps and backache it's one day and then AF shows up within 24 hours and I've had this on and off since Sunday; it's always worse in the afternoon, I feel fine and totally normal when waking up in the a.m. So make of that what you will- my crazy head is making up all sorts of things about it :lickout:

Missy: no, I'm not. We're trying to be 'casual' and 'relaxed' and 'have fun'. Kind of regretting not just doing it and not telling DH right about now, though...

(P.S.- I'm sorry this wasn't your round, but at least you know your body is doing something! I probably wouldn't keep the appointment and give it one more cycle- if that one's anovulatory as well, then you'll know you do need some assistance there. Just wondering what you would be asking your doc to do for you right now, as AF did, indeed, show up by herself and you don't have a history of needing clomid to ovulate, right?)

MP: My thoughts exactly! Luckily, I don't drink and I only do the heroine very occasionally (kidding!), so a too early BFN is not going to affect my lifestyle, and DH and I haven't veered from our normal schedules so if I am late or was late to ovulate, I'm not worried about missing a window.

NEL: ya know, I just don't really know. I've been on BC for a long time. The last time I was off was about 2 years ago and I remember cycles were super normal, predictable, but I never paid exact attention to days. I think I'd be ok with the BFN, actually. My mom tried to talk me into waiting until I was seriously sure I was late- like 2 more weeks- but I think, well you POAS and get a BFN and that's disappointing, but if AF shows up that's disappointing too- what's the difference? The only happy scenario here is a BFP and that requires a test

I have one test in the house, so we'll see. Maybe tomorrow morning...

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Avia, one word: Wondfos!

I admire your willpower. Anytime it's been remotely possible for me to be pregnant, I'm POAS before AF is even due! Even after doing so for 15 months I still couldn't help it.

If some of those signs aren't 100% normal for you, then I seriously hope you POAS today! Good luck! :appl: Oh and I think you're totally normal about the crazy head thing. DH and I had a good moment before O this month (with no BC...per him!), so I'm imagining all sorts of things lol..shh! Don't tell! ;)

Your secret is safe with me!

Well, I had another dream about testing and it being positive so I did take one this morning. It was decidedly negative. But no AF either, so we'll just keep on keeping on :naughty:

I will probably wait another week to test at this point; I was on tenterhooks about test/don't test and I kinda feel like I have an answer now so I can just go back to not thinking about it for a while. And if this cycle doesn't turn out to be successful at least I'll have some info on what my non-BC cycles can be like for the future.

I was pleasantly surprised with myself that, like NEL said, while there is certainly that twinge of disappointment, this BFN didn't ruin my day and I am actually much calmer now

Tammy: I think if I actually KNEW I was 10DPO or 12DPO I would be just like you, but I don't know that, so the waiting game it is!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

aviastar - My first time around for the first 2 cycles I didn't bother taking pregnancy tests either, but I did use opks. They weren't TOO long, 32 days and 34 days. But then my next one was long and I was testing everything...temping, opks, and pregnancy tests (but I held out until 12dpo for that one!) The time around I've already went crazy testing and temping  Good luck in the next few days or weeks! I hope your cycle isn't too long!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Bummer, Avia! That's ok, it could totally still happen, but at least you're ok with it! :) Do you think you'll start tracking in any way (temp and CF or OPKs)?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks, missy and Fancy!

Signs and symptoms have moved to the AF end of the spectrum, although no actual arrival yet I am counting myself out this first round. The icing on the cake was the sheer and utter rage I developed last night cause DH's team wasn't playing very well. Um, that's over the top, even for me, and I made myself leave after the 3rd quarter cause the The Coach's Wife should set a better example than that

And then I had a small episode of tears when I got home. AF for sure!

No, I don't think I'll track next month either. I'm actually going to do my very very most grown up bestest to forget about it completely.
