The Official TTC Thread!

Hey Iwanna...you''re trying to avoid, right? I''m just wondering because my first thought when I saw your chart was that it was looking good for a bfp, but then I remembered you weren''t ttc...

Then I looked at it even more and thought that maybe you didn''t O when it said you did, and that you O''d on what ff marked as 7 DPO, cause a 17 day LP is pretty long.

Haha, not to freak you out, but I was talking to Robbie and she was thinking the same thing too when she saw your chart. Just something to keep in mind, and maybe some of our chart experts will chime in here to and say I''m way off...

I agree too. I believe that once your LP gets to 18 days, it''s pretty certain you are pregnant. Looking at the chart though I''m also wondering if you didn''t ovulate where FF has marked as 7 dpo.

Fourtto!

BTW - AFF busted down my door tonight...right before I left for my pilates class!

*sigh* I totally wasn''t expecting it tonight. I NEVER got it at night...strange. Luckily, pilates kicked my a*s and I''m feeling good right now. Plus, DH has been fantastic through all this and he''s really been my rock. His words to me tonight, "I love you...we''ll keep trying."

Anyway, wishing Ebree, LL, Festy and Inluv better luck than me and hoping you gals can bring some BFPs tomorrow and this weekend!

I'm so sorry, blush. What a b**** AF can be. On the bright side, your DH sounds like a wonderful man, and you can have a nice big glass of wine or a halloween cocktail tomorrow! Hugs.

BB sorry about AFF! Keep plugging away

Iwanna unless you are preggo, you didn''t ovulate when it said you did. I think you should remove the CF ratings and see what that does to your predicted ovulation day, I think that information is throwing things off and making the programme put your O on the wrong day. I agree with others who think supposed 7DPO is a more likely ovulation day and those high temps pre-O may be fake-outs like Fisher had last cycle. I hope you are using back-up methods of BC right now! It can take months before you know your fertility signs well enough to use it to TTA. Also, if you are going to use charting to TTA it is super important to know your CF really really well, which I think takes at least 3-4 months to master. If you did ovulate later, given the markings you made for CF, it suggest there was EW lurking higher up by your cervix that you missed... oorrrrr... when did you go off the pill? It really messes with CF for many women so if it was recent that could be why it isn''t matching up with your temps. I didn''t get real EW until my 3rd cycle post-pill.

I''m sorry BB. That just stinks.

I''m 99.99% sure AFF is going to show up for me tomorrow as well.

Oh well. Onward and Upward, right????

Add me to the list, though AF isn''t due until Sunday. Looks like we''ll all be cycle buddies again!

Did anyone else here start charting before actively TTC?
If so . . .
I''m asking because in the very few days since I''ve started charting I''ve developed serious BOTB. DH andI decided we were going to just see what happens for a while, and then actively TTC about a year from now if we don''t get pregnant in the meantime. But now that I''m reading about your journeys I''m starting to get the itch.
Am I crazy?

You aren''t crazy at all...we WERE going to start charting for awhile before TTC...then we just threw it out the window and decided to start trying. It''s hard once you get so excited about temping, charting, etc. to not REALLY be trying. You''re normal!

Blushing, that totally sucks. I''m glad AF showed up before a good workout, that always helps. And so does a honey of a DH.

I''m pretty sure I''ll be joining you tonight or tomorrow. My temp is down and the pre-AF cramps are back...Oh well. Looking forward to next cycle and maybe not getting up at the crack of a** to temp on Sunday!

Blushing- Boooo to AFF! I had high hopes. Oh well, keep on keeping on girl. Have a nice glass of wine and enjoy your fantastic hubby while it''s just the two of you!!

Haven- This board will definitely do something funny to you. Be careful!!!
11.gif
We are not temping yet, went off the pill in August/September and really haven''t been timing BD yet- mostly cause I have no idea when I ovulate yet. Trying to stick with it, but I am getting impatient. So we''ll see how long I last!

As for me, AFF is due at any moment now, and I actually just want her to hurry up and get it over with!!! I am so bloated, my face looks like the moon, crampy, emotional, ick. I feel so pretty.
38.gif
And I am in a wedding this weekend. Send me your AFF! I''ll take her! I am so worried she is going to show up in the middle of the wedding or something. God, I feel like I am in junior high again!

GOOD LUCK to all those waiting to test, or baby-dancing this weekend! I will check back Sunday, and I hope for some good news.

Happy Halloween!!!!!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

I didn''t test today, as my temp took a WICKED downturn. Cramps, CM even more tinged...AFF is on her way for sure. Sigh.

Oh well.

I''m still holding out hope for at least one BFP.

Good Morning everyone

BB -- I'm so sorry about AFF showing up. Your husband sounds so incredibly supportive and I'm sure that helps a little.

Haven -- I think it's totally normal to get BOTB after charting/temping! I'm sure you'll be joining us in TTC soon enough!
31.gif

LL -- I'm sorry that AFF is on her way.
8.gif

Festy -- I'm holding out hope for you! I'll be checking in tomorrow to see what happens

As for me CD 27/ 10 DPO
No real "symptoms" to speak of. I have a bit of cramping. That's normal for me pre-AFF. I'm guessing it's not going to be my time this cycle. *IF* my temps stay up through Monday I will test on Tuesday. Not likely though
15.gif

Thanks everyone...I feel fine, but it''s getting harder and harder each time AFF shows. I really hope someone out there gets a BFP!!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!!!!

DH and I are not TTC, but I lurk on this thread because I am fascinated by charting. I went off BC a couple weeks ago because I am so so sick of being on them and decided to chart to figure out what the heck my cycles will be doing. I was hoping I could ask a question (and I will admit up front that I haven't done all my reading about charting yet). Can I track temps only to predict ovulation? What reading I have done talks about checking your CM and cervix and well.... I don't have a clue what I'm doing in that department as of yet. We ARE using back up, but I would love to be able to know once i'm safely past ovulation because well, ya know.

Thanks in advance and I wish all the best to those that are TTC.

April your temps will indeed tell you when you have ovulated, but it will not tell you when you are *about* to ovulate! Since sperm can live up to 5 days in fertile CF, temping alone is not enough to help your successfully avoid getting preggo. If you really want to chart to avoid, pick up the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and it will tell you everything you need to know! It takes about 2-4 months to get the hang of things, then once you do and know what you are doing, apparently you can use charting to avoid with more success than barrier methods and sometimes as much as hormonal BC. But you dont'' want to mess around, and to do it right you really need to track your cervical fluid and temp. Both are necessary signs. Good luck!

Thanks! I have the book, I just haven''t read it yet. Putting that at the top of my list....... I do not need to get preggo right now.

Wow, I''m so sorry BB, Lysser, Festy, and Ebree for the show of AFF or at least the signs. Hang in there!

Inlove, how are the temps looking today?

I officially hate my bbt thermometer sometimes. This morning I woke up and temped and tried to shut it off while it was beeping since dh was sleeping. It was too dark to read the temp. I placed it back on my nightstand and rolled over to go back to sleep, but a few minutes later I heard it beeping again as if it reached a high temp. I have no idea how/why it did that. When I woke up later, I saw that the temp it logged was 91.43! I''m guessing that when I turned it off, I hit the button too hard and it turned back on and started logging the temp of the air?!?

So anyway, when I woke up the second time, since I saw that the first temp was impossible, I tried to temp again. In the middle of the temping, I sneezed! This somehow turned the thermometer off, and then my nose was so stuffed that I couldn''t breathe to take it again. So I have no temp for today, but at least it''s only one day and I don''t think I''m near O''ing anyway.

Bad connection here in the mountains, but wanted to check in. Any positives? I''ve only quickly scanned the first page or so... no idea about anything beyond that.

Good luck, people!

Good morning,

Sorry to disappoint everyone, but it''s CD 1 for me. I was hoping AF would show yesterday, but for some reason she likes to visit right around midnight, so I have to count it as today. Thought I''d post my first full chart, which I''m very happy with. InLuv, hoping for some good news from you! Worst case scenario, at least we can all look forward to being chart buddies again!

Hey ladies...

Sabine -- Sorry your having issues with your thermometer. It's weird that it shut off when you sneezed! That sucks that you didn't get a temp for today.

Festy -- Sorry about AFF! I was excited after having charted an entire cycle and I have been alot more calm on this second cycle. I'm hoping the next one gives you a BFP!

As for me...
Today is CD 29/12 DPO. I usually have 30 day cycles with a 13 day LP. I've refused to allow myself to get excited/hopeful this cycle but after this morning temp it's getting a little hard! I'm posting an overlay of this month vs last month. On 12 DPO last month my temps started going down in anticipation of AFF but today it's at an all time high! I will be so crushed if my body fakes me out and my temp plummets tomorrow, but we shall see. If it's still high tomorrow, I will test then with FMU. Fingers crossed!

Question: Can the time change have affected my temp today? I just don't want to get my hopes up for nothing. DId anyone else's temp seem off today?

ETA: Forgot to mention that last cycle I had just a bit of spotting pre-AFF on 11, 12 & 13 DPO. You know the kind that you only see on TP after wiping? I haven't had any at all this cycle yet.

overlaychartcycle2.jpg

InLuv, the time change definitely can affect your temp. There''s actually a way that you''re supposed to deal with it according to TCOYF, but I can''t remember what it said since I didn''t need to worry about it this year.

The lack of spotting sounds very promising though!

InLuv, oh my that is very exciting! About the time change, my temp didn''t seem to be affected. It was only .03 degrees different from yesterday and I temped about two hours later than I usually do. Maybe iit would have been lower had I temped on time, but I doubt by much. I don''t think an hour will make a big difference. I think FF tells you to temp at the new time and just take it from there. But don''t quote me on that. I will be checking back tomorrow morning!

Here''s what FF says:

The effect of Daylight Saving Time (DST) on your temperature is usually limited to the day of the change because you adjust quite quickly. In addition, the exact effect depends strongly on your own metabolism. Some people will see no effect at all while others will see a slight change (increase or decrease). Because in general having one temperature slightly off will not change your chart interpretation, Fertility Friend''s recommendation is to record your temperature as usual without correcting it in any manner. We recommend that you keep taking the temp at the same time. If you took it at 6 in the morning before the change, then take it at 6 in the morning after the change.

Thanks for responding Robbie & Festy.

I guess only time will tell. We''ll see what tomorrow''s temp brings.

Fingers Crossed inluv! Chart looks good so far!

I''m keeping my eye on all you lovelies and hoping for BFP all around soon. Hang in there! Sorry about the AFF of late. URGH!

Happy November everyone!!!

I can''t believe we haven''t gotten more BFPs. Come on, In luv, we are counting on you!!!!

Well, I''m CD2. A very exciting time, to be sure. Feh.

My inlaws left today. The visit was long, but not too horrible as my parents were also in town. My in-laws are super super super SUPER SUPER active. And don''t get me wrong, it isn''t like DH and I are total shlubs...but they are just out of control. Even the dogs are tired from all the walks they went on. Anyway, it was a long couple of days. DH and I are both exhausted, and the weekend has been a real budget buster...with two expensive dinners out in the last two days. UGH!

So yeah. I''m very excited because I''m getting a bunch of new jewelry equipment this week. I ordered a bunch of soldering tools so I can start soldering at home, not just in class. Yay. I live an exciting life!

Alright, hope all is well...

Hi All!
35.gif

Well, it''s CD 5 for me today...feh (love that phrase) and like LL - I had a busy weekend too and my weekend also involved my inlaws. We had them over for dinner on Friday night, along with DH''s sister and her finace to celebrate DH''s b-day. It was the first time we hosted a dinner party because we finally have a table (most people in NYC don''t and just eat on their coffee tables) so, we felt VERY grown-up!
9.gif
Sat. night we went to Woodbury Commons (designer shopping outlets) and then went out for dinner and drinks with 3 other couples to again celebrate DH''s birthday. So, after a busy weekend we were excited to watch some football last night and relax!

InLuv - ooooh sounds hopeful my dear! Fingers crossed for you!!!
