The Official TTC Thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks everyone! It was definitely a stress relief to see my temp drop, and AF arrived last night. I told my fiancé that it's a relief to know if something happens between now and the wedding at least I'll be able to attend still ! Hope everyone us having a happy 4th.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hey All! Quick question from the lurking gallery you ladies may know the answer to...

What happens to your temp during the 2ww if conception has occurred??

My chart is high and hot and FF keeps replotting my O date. Might be stress, but also thinking maybe preggo?? Any insight would be great before I run out for a preggo test.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats again MQ, I hope you were able to confirm it for your DH with a digital test!

amc, phew! So, are you going to actually start trying now or do you still plan to wait after the wedding?

Lizzy, good luck with the appointments and testing this month. So sorry you are dealing with this and having trouble deciding how to go forward. Hugs. I'm crossing my fingers that you are able to try on the clomid or get a BFP naturally. But you are taking steps and having plans in place if that doesn't happen. I want to just be normal too! I pretty much asked my DH the exact same question this weekend.

HOT, crossing my fingers for you. Gotta love the 2WW.

Missy, hope you are doing well. You'll get to start round two of trying this month!

NEL and LC, thanks for checking in.

Unfortunately for me, the news is not good. AF showed up last night. It's getting harder and harder to imagine getting a BFP, so I wasn't too surprised. Nothing else to do but keep trying.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Meg, I don't chart but I believe the temps stay up. How far into the 2ww are you?

MP~ I'm sorry AF showed up.

Lizzy ~ that is quite the schedule you have there, I guess if nothing else all the appointments and poking and prodding will help prepare you for IVF? Good luck, I hope that you get some answers to help you move forward.

Hi to everyone else. I'm off to bed. :))

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

megumic, I've never been pregnant, but I have temped. If you are pregnant, your temps will stay high past your expected AF day. However, there is no set pattern for temps after conception has occurred. Some people have triphasic temps where there is a second rise in temps midway through the two week wait, but that does not necessarily mean you are pregnant. The only way to tell you are pregnant based on temps is if they continue to stay high past your expected AF.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Meg, is your coverline pretty clear, even if FF doesn't know your O day? Your temps will stay above the coverline if you're pregnant--mine started climbing even higher after 8dpo, but as MP pointed out, that isn't necessarily a sign of pregnancy. The only true sign is temps that stay over the coverline . Did you have any O signs at all? Cramping, EWCM, etc. that might help narrow down the O day?

MP, I'm so sorry about AF, I was really hoping this would be your month--you were really great about taking a step back and not worrying so much. I know you must be really frustrated, I wish I could say anything to help. I feel like every woman's journey is different--many of my friends got frustrated because it took 6+ months. All of them did go on to get pregnant and have healthy babies and their frustration with the TTC process faded quickly, but it's very hard when you're in the middle of it. I'm thinking of you.

Lizzy, I hope the testing went well. I'm also hoping the Clomid doesn't make your follies go too crazy and you get 1-2 mature follies next week. I feel like you have a great plan--hopefully the Clomid works, but if not you have IVF as a backup. I feel like you're in a much better position to have a successful pregnancy than you were a month ago, so that's great progress!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

It's been a crazy few weeks so I might just be a stress mess on FF. No clear coverline. I had a temp spike of 0.5 degrees F at what I believe to be 11 DPO. I have a fairly regular 28 day cycle, so I'm thinking AF should be here in a day or so.

One thing that made me think I might be preggo is that when I went to a spinning class the other day my heart was racing a million miles an hour and I had to slow down. I work out very regularly and I've never experienced this, and my mom said when she first found out she was pregnant she had similar symptoms. That plus the weird charting temps is making me nervous!!! It's a long shot since we are using condoms, but, hey, according to the all-reliable wikipedia, condoms fail 10-18% of the time.

Wait for AF or go get a test...?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Megumic, if you noticed a temp spike on day 11 and your temps stayed high after that, that would mean you ovulated on day 10. If your temps did not stay up after that and went up and down, your temp spike on day 11 may have been a fluke. Do you have a chart to post?
If you did in fact ovulate on day 10, I would think you should be able to get a positive pregnancy test by now. Good luck! (not sure what outcome you are hoping for)

NEL, thanks for your kind words. In my head, I know that I will eventually have a baby whether we have one naturally, need fertility treatments or even adopt. I was just hoping it would happen easily. It's humbling to realize that I'm not in control and that there is a greater plan at work. Hopefully I can join all of you ladies soon! Hope you are doing well. Can't wait til you have some ultrasound pics to share!

Just like others have said, it stays high. No particular pattern. Word on the street is that if your temps stay above your cover line for more than 18 days you are probably preggo.

We are waiting for after the wedding. But at least if we have another slip up it won't be as big of a deal.

Here is how my chart ended up. Not much ambiguity in that temp drop, right? Ha. This was my first month of temping and I really enjoyed it. It answered a lot of questions, mainly 1) Yes, I ovulate, 2) I have a 14 day LP, and 3) My temp drops quickly and sharply. The only lingering confusion/weirdness is why I get my positive OPKs after I O...so hopefully this month will shed some light on that. I really do recommend temping to anyone wanting to know what is going on with their cycles!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hope everyone had a great weekend (extended weekend for those in the US)!

Sorry I haven't been around - took off for camping and came back yesterday. No phones, emails, internet, etc. was pretty awesome!

MQ: If you're still around, CONGRATULATIONS! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

AMC: Yay for AF! I'm glad you don't have to stress over rescheduling your cruise. Thanks for posting your chart. I think it really helps those who haven't charted to see the shift when we O and the drop when AF is expected. How are your puppies? Will they be going to their new homes soon?

Missy: Sorry for AF. At least now you know where to begin. Have you started the OPKs yet?

HOT: How were the oysters? :cheeky: You are too funny. When is AF expected? I'll be crossing my fingers for you during this 2WW.

Lizzy: Sounds like you have a great plan for this cycle. Hopefully, there will be one nice follicle this month so you can try this month. IVF sounds like a big step but it's nice to know that it's a possibility if this month doesn't work out. Just focus on this cycle for now. I will hope for the best for you!

Monkey: I am so sorry that AF came. Hugs, sweetie. Please know that you are doing everything you can and that your little bean will come at the right time. I'm glad that you continue to have hope and faith because I have great hope for you!

Megumic: Generally, your temps will stay elevated on the day AF is expected (and afterwards). However, it is different for everyone. Sometimes you can get a dip to or below the coverline before or on day AF is expected and still get pregnant. So it varies. For me personally, my temps stay elevated. I say go TEST! Let us know!

LC and NEL: I love to hear from you ladies! Thanks for continuing to stick around and provide us TTC's with support and encouragement! Can't wait to see ultrasound pics of your little beans!

AFM: Last week at about 2DPO (I didn't know at the time), I made an appt with my dr for a pap test and general check-up for next week. I will be 12DPO at the appt. I'll wait to take a test then so I'll let the dr know either I am or am not pregnant. I have no hope whatsoever this cycle since 1) I O'd very very late (CD47), and 2) we BD only once on the day of O. So at my appt, I'll go over my cycles with my dr and if he thinks we should just continue trying until the 1 year mark, I will start acupuncture. That's my update for now.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks everyone for your $0.02!

amc -- what a great chart. It's so darn clear. Mine are super wonky and I never have a clear coverline pre-O.

Here's what this month looks like. Based on how regular my cycles are, I think I O'ed on CD14, which makes day 25 temp spike odd to me...Thoughts? I suppose if I have some time I will go get a preggo test. It would be quite a surprise...

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Megumic: From your chart, it looks like you O'd on CD22, making you only 3DPO, which would be too early for implantation or positive pregnancy test. Is this your first month charting? If your temps stay high, then most likely you O'd on day 22. Stress can delay O.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I agree, looks like you O'd on day 22.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I agree with ally and amc, it looks like your body was gearing up for a CD14 O but then didn't, and finally did on CD22. Probably stress-related.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Amc - Glad AF came!! Now you don't have to worry about your wedding

Monkey - Sorry about AF, I hope you have better luck this cycle.

Ally - Nope not using OPKs yet, I'm on CD5. I'm thinking I'll start on CD10.

AFM, I think I'm going to hold off temping this cycle and maybe start next cycle if I need to. I was SO paranoid that my first AF off BC was going to be really heavy and all and I'd get all these bad symptoms, but it really wasn't that bad! Just a few days of light cramps, but I think I can handle that. Now if it will just work itself around my vacation the 2nd week of August, then I'll be really happy!

Any of you newly pregnant ladies spread the good news to family and friends during the holiday weekend?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi ladies,

I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend!

MQ, huge congrats to you on the BFT! Sending you a hug & lots of sticky dust. :appl:

amc, I'm glad to hear you can relax now & focus on your wedding planning & that your cruise is safe. It's always so much better when you can actually go on your honeymoon. :cheeky: And that cupcake looks amazing!

Monkey, so sorry this wasn't the month for you. It is definitely humbling to not be in control of this process, but it sounds like you have a great perspective.

Lizzy, good luck with all of the testing. I hope you get some answers.

HOT, yay for the oysters! Fingers crossed for you during your TWW.

Missy, sorry about AF showing up, but maybe you'll be like your mom & your stay here will be short & sweet!

ally, welcome back from Hawaii! I'm glad you had a great vacay. Wow, CD48! I guess travel can really delay (or prevent) ovulation. I'm glad you're feeling more relaxed, though. Re: CM tracking, I have been keeping an eye out for CM, but I don't really seem to have much at all--certainly haven't spotted any EWCM. (I thought maybe I had it my first month off the pill, but haven't really seen it since.) I've been temping (with a regular thermometer, not BBT--maybe this is a no no?) for the past 4 months (have been off HBC for 6).

Hi to anyone I forgot!

As for me, we were very religious about BD-ing over the holiday weekend. My woman calendar software said I was going to O on the 3rd, but my temps are still low & no CM to speak of. I haven't noticed much in general since coming off HBC, & had to take an antihistamine or 2 for allergies over the weekend, so I'm sure that didn't help. So now I'm wondering if I should still keep trying, or chalk it up to an anovulatory cycle & hope for better luck next month. I'm on day 20 now.

I also found out this weekend that, not only is my one SIL PG (12 weeks), but my other SIL is going to start trying next month. They're both younger than I am. Of course, I'm thrilled for them, but I got a little sad this weekend thinking it might be rough to be unsuccessfully trying & to have 2 PG SILs. I'm starting to think that this might be a much longer & more stressful process than I anticipated.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks for the chart read! (Haha, there's like a mysticism to it like tarot card readers and palm readers! Only some ppl can hack it!)

Keep ya posted if there is a turn of events!

Meg, your chart does not really show ovulation, the temps are not clearly bi-phasic. CD22 is a good possibility but all the missing temps post CD22 make it impossible to pinpoint!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

DD, you're right. The mess that I handed to FF is my fault and I need to be better about charting if I expect to gain any insight! I was pretty good about it in months past, but have fallen off the wagon this month. I'll get back after it! Thanks ladies for your help!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi all! Thanks for the congrats again. Took a digi and showed my hubby on Sunday morning before we went up north camping and he was excited. Things are finally feeling real for him, and for me! Some slight cramps and "pulling" sensations from the little poppy seed, but otherwise feeling great! We told my brother and my parents and they are thrilled with the news. We've each also told our best friends and plan to tell his mom this coming weekend. Hoping for a healthy and happy journey.

MP (((((HUGS))))). Thinking of you, honey.

Amc, glad you are going to be able to cruise without worries.

DUST to HOT and my other TWWs. Will come back and check up on you all soon!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hope everyone had a great long weekend!

MQ: So glad that the digital made it feel more real! It is so exciting! Congrats.

AMC: You must be so relieved! Now enjoy the cruise. I LOVE LOVE LOVE cruising more than anything, it will be such a great wedding.

Missy: Getting AF can suck, but at least it happened and you can follow this cycle super closely.

HOT: The oysters is so funny. My DH was eating smoked oysters every day for a month thinking it would help. The smell was nasty.

Lizzy: I wish there were PMs as you and I seem to be in similar places. I hope this cycle goes well and they monitor your closely.

Monkey: Hugs. I stink at finding the right thing to say, but you just have to keep hoping.

So me: All my instincts were on the money. My RE said I could have come sooner even! I am not ovulating at all. I had an ultrasound and blood work last week and they want me in again tomorrow. I also did my fasting blood today and my DH did all his tests yesterday and today. I am supposed to get an HSG too but that is hard with no bleed. They said that nothing is developing at all. The good news is that the eggs are there! So I am trying to stay positive. Hopefully tomorrow they can give me some information as to why I am not ovulating and what is the cause. That is more for my knowledge and it looks like we are going to start treatments as soon as we get DH's tests back. I also got him the book What He can Expect when She is Not Expecting. He is reading it and being a bit more sensitive and thoughtful. We were able to have a good talk especially because I have to seed my very pregnant SIL this upcoming weekend. I have noticed the calmer and more rational I am, the better he responds so I hope to continue to keep my cool. Ill let everyone know what I learn tomorrow.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

SBA, fantastic news that the eggs are there, and looks like you were right on your hunch. I really hope your RE can formulate a good plan for you and your DH. And great that your DH is reading the book and is more sensitive going forward.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Meg Your past charts can help. What are your typical post-O temps? The range of post-O temps tends to be pretty stable accross cycles. So for example, if you tend to dee post O temps in the 98+ range, then you know when you hit that range you have ovulated, and not sooner. Take a couple more temps in the coming days and see where they stand, if all in the 98 range (and that matches you past cycles) then CD 22 looks more likely. You can also pinpoint O post hoc. Your past charts will tell you your LP length, and when you get your period this cycle, you can count back.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

sba I can think of at least two other PSers from the past who also discovered they were not ovulating, and both for pregnant very quickly after starting their treatments with their RE! I hope you are in the same boat!

Thanks! We are really excited. I'm pretty sure I'm more excited about TTC then the actual wedding, ha. It will be a great time though. I'm doing more wedding dress shopping this weekend so hopefully I'll be able to find something.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Quick question--has anyone ever tried using soy isoflavones as a natural alternative to clomid?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Bright spot - I did for a couple of cycles, but they seemed to screw up my O/cycle more than just taking nothing. I gave up on them pretty quickly. Then again, I have crazy messed-up hormones to start with, so they might work better for someone else.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ally, hey you never know. That one BD on O-day may have been all it took. What cycle day are you on now? If not, I hope your doctor has some suggestions for you. LC swears by the acupuncture.

Missy, I would probably hold off of temping for awhile too if I were you and give it a few tries going the casual route. All of the monitoring can be useful to learn about your cycle and confirm ovulation, but I also think it adds unnecessary stress for some people. Will you be using OPKs?

Brightspot, any sign of O yet? I too am surrounded by several pregnant friends and relatives, and it certainly doesn’t make this whole TTC thing any easier. I hope you will be joining them both soon. If you are temping, you should definitely use a basal thermometer according to TCOYF.

Sba, sounds like you had a really good appointment. So much better to have answers and to know there are treatments. Do you find out any more information at your second appointment? Hopefully, you can start the treatments soon and be that much closer to having a baby!

AFM, had my interview and it went well. I don’t think I’ll take the position even if offered, but it was good practice. And exhausting. I always forget how exhausting interviews can be. Nothing exciting TTC-wise. I don’t feel as much pressure to time everything right this time around, because we’ve tried that route, and it hasn’t been successful. I think we will probably just aim to BD every other day around O time.

Hope everyone I missed is doing well! Anyone else in the 2WW?

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Monkey, I'm glad that your interview went well even though you don't think you'll take the job. How are things going at work now for you? I'm sorry AF showed up and I'm sorry this hasn't been a smooth road for you. How many cycles have you tried now? Have you thought about contacting your OB for some basic blood tests? If anything it will give you peace of mind that hormones are where the need to be.

Brightspot, I'm sorry I can't help with the Clomid alternative. I've never used it. I know how it feels to have people getting pregnant all around you. I am happy that they are pregnant, but it just makes me sadder that I am not. Just know that you will get there and it will be worth the wait.

AMC, glad the stress is behind you and you can focus on the wedding now. Good luck on dress shopping!

Sba, I'm glad you didn't wait any longer to go to the RE. DId you hear anything yet as to the cause of lack of ovulation? What is the plan of action? I hope they can give you a great plan of action!

Mannequin, glad you are having fun spreading the good word!

Missy, are you using OPK's or just temping? I can't remember.

Megumic, I am no help at all on charting. Sorry lady! Where do you think you are in your cycle now?

Allyally, good luck on the 2ww! I really hope you are pregnant for your next Dr. appt! But it sounds like you have a good plan in place!

NEL and LC, hi ya'll! Thanks for the support!

HOT, hope you are doing well. You are right that all of these tests will prepare me for IVF if needed. It's going to be a busy week ahead of me.

AFM, I am on day 5. I will start Clomid tonight and continue it for the next 5 days. I had blood work on Tuesday and my DH went for his semen analysis on Wednesday. My HSG is on Friday. Then next week I go for more blood work on day 10 after I am done with Clomid. Then the very next day I meet with my RE to discuss all of the test results. If nothing is found, at least I can say that they have run all of the right tests. That's the way I look at it. I am crossing my fingers that Clomid doesn't make me have a lot of follies that will release eggs. Otherwise, this cycle is out.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi everyone!

Just OPKs for now. I'm going to hold off on temping.
