The Official TTC Thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Lizzy, My job is going better for the time being, probably because the partner I had the most issues with is busy preparing for a trial. I've been working crazy hours lately though, and I don't think it will be letting up any time soon. Hoping that a good prospect comes my way soon. To answer your other question, I have tried for 5 cycles now. The first couple I could chalk up to just getting off BC, but now I'm starting to think it might be more than just bad luck. I think I am just going to keep trying until my appointment in September, which is only 2.5 months away, and then I talk to my doctor about doing some blood tests and possibly a SA for DH. He is 40, so I sometimes I wonder if maybe that is a contributing factor, but I really hope that if there is a problem, it is on my end and not his. Seems like female issues are sometimes easier fixes. Of course, DH can't imagine that his swimmers are anything but olympic champions (because he himself was a really good swimmer in college).

Wow, you have a lot of appointments coming up. It's nice that you will be able to get a lot of it taken care of quickly though, so you can get back to TTC. Crossing my fingers for you that your tests come back with good results and you only have one or two really good follicles, so you can try again. Hope you're holding up okay. Let us know what you find out.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Happy Friday ladies!

I recently took on an Of Counsel position and have been swamped with work. Definitely does make the time go by faster as I'm 9DPO today. Still no urge to test.

Monkey: I'm so glad to hear that work is getting better for you. Do you have to help with trial prep? During the short time I was in civil litigation, I got a chance to help one of the partners with the trial prep - so stressful but sort of exciting - even more so when your side wins and you helped to get it! Anyways, I'm sorry to hear the job that you interviewed for wasn't what you were looking for. I have a friend who did civil litigation for about 4 years, realize that she didn't want to get stuck there, gave her notice, then a week later got an interview and got the job. She got a week off in between jobs. I'm hoping you find the right position soon. Keep up the great attitude of TTC! I'm hoping that it has just been bad luck and nothing more serious. Fingers crossed that this is your cycle!

Missy: Good luck with the OPKs!

Lizzy: I'm glad you checked in and gave us an update! Looks like a busy busy month for you! Any symptoms from the Clomid? I'll be crossing my fingers that you get one nice sized follie so that you don't have to skip this cycle! Is the HsG today? Hope it went well and that you're not in any pain.

Bright: Sorry, I haven't heard about soy isoflavones.

SBA: So glad to hear from you too! I am so sorry to hear you haven't been ovulating but great news that your dr can help. Did you get any more information from you dr? Please keep us updated. And how smart of you to give that book to DH! Sometimes guys don't get what we go through until they find out for themselves, so I'm glad he's being more sensitive to you.

AMC, HOT, Pilsn and any other ladies I missed, I hope you are doing well. AMC, I believe you're dress shopping? Did you find something yet? Hope you find something you love!

HOT: My fingers are crossed that the oysters did the trick for you guys!

:wavey: to the mommas and pregnant ladies who check in on us and continue to give us support (Dreamer, DrK, LC, NEL and MQ)!

AFM: My dr appt is on Monday at 12DPO so I'll test then. No symptoms except of major fatigue yesterday at 8DPO, but that could just be due to my crazy workload. Busy weekend for me - a birthday party and a meet the babies party (twin girls). I probably wont check in this weekend so I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Yep, shopping again this weekend.Without my mom, so it should more fun and less stressful. :)

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi Ladies! :wavey: Happy Friday - I am officially jumping into the TTC pool. I have been doing a bit of research and have been lurking on this thread for a few months hoping to soak up any info about getting preggers once we finally decided to go for it. I am very excited/scared to finally get to this point.

Today is day 1 of AF for me, and I hope that we can do some well-timed BDing in the next few weeks since I "think" I have been able to pinpoint fertile CF in my past cycles. Anyway I am so excited and very happy to have all of your support since I can't really get that excited IRL.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi ladies! I had my HSG today and it was easy! Didn't hurt at all! The hardest part was the anxiety before the test. But the doctor told me that I had no abnormalities and my tubes were all clear. So that is good news I guess! I started on my Clomid last night. The RE nurse recommended to take it in the evening before bed so that I could sleep off any side effects from it. Today when I woke up, I felt a little bloated and crampy-ish. But not too bad. Next Tuesday, I have day10 testing after the clomid, then my appt with the RE on Wednesday. I am really hoping that I don't have too many follies so that we can try this month. I'm still torn on whether or not I should just go right to IVF instead of trying one more time though. One thing with IVF that sticks in my head is that they will be able to get a look at my eggs if I go that route. I'm wondering if that might tell us something you know?

MerryMary, welcome! Good luck on the BD'ing!

AMC, good luck with the shopping!!! So exciting!

Ally, have a great weekend and keep us posted on your appt on Monday!

Monkey, I am glad that you are getting a little relief at work even if it is temporary. Hopefully, a great opportunity will arise for you. I totally remember your plan now about waiting till September. Thanks for reminding me. I hope that you will get a BFP before then but at least you already have an appt set up, which is a comfort. You and your DH are funny about his swimmers being Olympic champions! I'm sure they are! I will tell you that when my DH had is semen analysis, he was so embarrassed. I felt terrible for him. But he is a good guy and will do whatever needs to be done as I'm sure your DH will as well. I hate being at hospitals. Today, in the waiting room for my test to begin, I saw tons of babies and mommas and I was trying to hold back tears. Try to stay positive, that's what I've been trying to do. I am confident that you will be pregnant sooner than later....

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi everyone & happy Friday!

MQ, sounds like you're having fun telling everyone! Enjoy!

sba, sorry to hear you're not ovulating, but that's great that the eggs are there! I hope your doc comes up with a good plan for treatment.

drk & others, thanks for chiming in on the soy isoflavones. I'll have to do a bit more research on that one. I'm trying to figure out whether to switch my insurance or not. My current plan doesn't cover fertility treatments, but switching to one that does would double my premiums. Yikes!

MP, It seems we've both been trying for around the same length of time (5-6 months). I'm glad to hear your job is going better now. No sign of O for me yet this month. My temp was up a bit 2 days ago, but is back down again now. I guess I should buy a new thermometer for next cycle. (I love mine now, though as it does a reading in 30 seconds!)

MP & lizzy, Thanks for the kind words about the SIL pregnancy. I was feeling a little down by being surrounded by so much baby talk, but am better now.

Lizzy, That's great that your tests came in so well. Yay for no abnormalities or blockages! Have you used Clomid before? I hope the cycle goes well & without too many side effects. Fingers crossed that you can try this cycle & get some good test results. I'm sorry it was tough seeing all of the babies & moms. <hugs> I'll bet you'll be one of them soon! (The mommas, anyway.)

ally, have fun at the birthday parties this weekend! I hope your appt on Monday goes well. Maybe you'll have news to share... :naughty:

amc, have fun dress shopping this weekend! Are you going with friends or alone? I hope you find something fab!

Merry, hi & welcome! :wavey: It's wonderful to have such a great group of ladies here for support, especially if we aren't talking to many people "offline" about our plans.

Hi to anyone I missed & I hope everyone has a great weekend!

We're headed to New Orleans tomorrow. At least I can have a hurricane now.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ally, well, 12dpo should be a good day for you because you’ll either get a BFP or you will have a chance to talk to you doctor. I’m hoping it’s the former! Congrats on your new position. Hope it is going well. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I am not working on the trial, so I haven’t been a part of the prep. But I've got plenty of other cases to keep me busy. Litigation is so frustrating because it can be super exciting and fun one day, and then completely awful the next. I just crave a little more stability and a weekend off once in awhile, and I’m far to pragmatic to get caught up in the all of the little fights.

Welcome MM, hope you catch that egg the first go around! It’s been happening a lot around here lately! I would be lost without this forum because I have nobody other than DH to talk with about TTC, and as wonderful as he is, he can only take so much : )

Lizzy, glad to hear the HSG went well. I’m sure its frustrating that everything is seemingly working correctly, but you still are having trouble staying pregnant. Hoping for more good news for you next week though! I honestly do not know what I would do in your position re clomid/IVF. Just trust your gut.

Brightspot, have fun in New Orleans and drinking hurricanes! I’m not a huge drinker, but just knowing I could have a drink if I wanted to after getting AF always makes me feel better. Yes, it looks like we are in about the same position time-wise. In some ways it feels like I have been trying forever, but when I think about it, it has only been about four months since I went off BC. Hoping good things happen for both of us soon.

Amc, have fun dress shopping. I think it’s smart you are waiting until after the wedding to TTC. You will have so much more fun at your wedding and on the cruise, and you can just enjoy the fact you are married and not worry about being pregnant on the cruise.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. TGIF!

Yeah...it's getting hard, I really want to start NOW but I know I just need to slow down and relax. I want to be able to drink, zipline, ride rides at Disney World, etc. guilt free. My only fear is what if it ends up taking a long time, will we wish we had started earlier? I guess there's no way to answer that question, so we will just wait. I just finished up with evil AF today so I'll only have to deal with her 4 more times before we TTC. That sounds like a small number, right? Oh, that reminds me, I need to make an appointment with the new OBGYN I picked out. I guess I'll do that next month so I can start the evil BCP in late September if it looks like AF is going to show up during the wedding/cruise.

I hate dress shopping...ugh...I'm carrying about 20lbs more than I normally do right now so nothing looks good, in my opinion. My one and only bridesmaid/MOH is meeting me for shopping. Hopefully we find something I love. I'll post pics if I find something!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Lizzy - as far as I know, they don't look at the eggs with IVF. I think they can get an idea of quality based on how your E2 level correlates to the number of follicles they see. What they do look at is the embryos as they develop, and they'll rate them as they grow, so that they can transfer the "best looking" couple on day 3 or 5 post retrieval. There's still no guarantee though, as good looking embryos can have chromosomal problems that would lead to miscarriage later on. That's why some people will do IVF with PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis) for inherited medical conditions, or to be sure that the right numbers of chromosomes are there before the embryos are transferred. I really don't know what's likely to be helpful for you, as you get pg really easily, but have these early losses. Hopefully the testing will show something that can be treated.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi, all! I’m so behind on this thread, though I’ve been checking in periodically. Here’s my attempt at catching up:

MQ: AHHH!!! Such wonderful news!!!! Many, many (belated) congrats. I’m sending lots of sticky dust your way!
AMC: I’m happy for you for the arrival at AF. It sounds like waiting til the wedding is a good idea, but FWIW, I think you can your FI would get along just fine with an early surprise. Did you find any dresses???
HOT: How are you? Are you in the 2WW right now, after that aphrodisiac-oyster-induced BDing? Thinking of you!
Missy: Do you feel better with just using OPKs and ditching the temping? Are you on cycle #2 post BC?
Ally: ….11 DPO for you, right? Any urge to test?? Just one day early?? I’m dying to see some positive pee sticks! Hope you enjoyed your party-filled weekend.
Bright: Sounds like you got in lots of awesome BD time! Any additional insight on whether or not you actually ovulated? No experience w. S.I… sorry!
SBA: So happy to hear you’re linked up with a good RE who seems to know what’s going on! Thinking positively for you. How is your DH liking that book?
MP: Glad you had a good interview! I think every other day BDing sounds like a good plan and helps alleviate some pressure and anxiety that surrounds TTC (for me, anyway) Your DH’s thinking about himself as a good swimmer = strong ‘swimmer’ sperm is hilarious!
Lizzy: How’s Clomid going? So glad the HSG was a breeze and you’re all clear!
Merry: WELCOME!

AFM: I’ve been traveling a LOT and the next two weeks we have nine out of town guests who will be in-and-out of our home. Crazy! I’m cleaning like a mad woman! On the TTC front, I wish I could snap my fingers and magically have my cycles return to normal. I stated spotting two days after Mirena was removed, then it progressed to a light period (?... enough blood to require a tampon), and has now reduced to pink-tinged CM. This is all a bit bizarre, as I did not have a period with my IUD. I’m just wondering whether or not I’ll ovulate this month and am considering picking up some OPKs. I have my BBT but have not temped consistently.

…It’s funny… if someone else wrote what I just did, I would respond by saying, “It might take a few cycles for your body to readjust to life without BC. Give it some time!” but clearly I cannot take my own advice!

What else? DH and I BD’d last night sans-condom or pull-and-pray (I seriously doubt I’m fertile right now) and afterward he said, “Wait. Is it okay that we just did that?” Ha! We’re more worried about pregnancy now than when we were reckless, BD-crazy teenagers.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. It certainly felt too short! I've been exhausted since Friday and with bouts of nausea, was very tempted to test this weekend but didn't.

So today at 12 DPO with my temp rising to 98.45, I tested and got these:

Wondfo line came up immediately so I decided to test with the digital. And since I had a bunch of OPKs lying around, and have heard that OPKs can be positive in pregnancy, I said, why not.

I honestly did not expect I'd get a BFP since we BD only on O day on CD47! I really thought I wouldn't get a viable egg by O'ing so late. I'll call the dr's office in a little bit and we might have to schedule to when I'm closer to 8 weeks. When I was pregnant with DD, the dr didn't want me to come in until 8 weeks. But because of my long cycle, I'm not sure what they will want me to do.

DD is calling for me so I'll be back in a little bit.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

delurking to say YAY ally!! Congrats on your bfp!!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ally, just wanted to say congrats!! This crazy long cycle with all of the near-Os finally paid off for you!! Once you schedule your appt., I'm sure they'll want to do an early u/s on you since you had such a long cycle. I'm really excited for you!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ally! Hooray! congrats!!!

Pilsen, it's funny that you and your DH are being so "careless" now. Are you guys actively TTC now or just testing the waters?

AMC, hopefully your Dress shopping weekend was successful. I really hope you can enjoy the rest of your planning.

Monkey, sounds like you're a little more zen. I'm glad. Sounds like your job can be crazy, I hope you can find something that gives you the balance you're looking for.

Bright, Hope you're enjoying NoLa!

Lizzy, any word on your appts and test results?

Cheering you ladies on!

~LC

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ally!!!! Congratulations - That is wonderful =) :appl: :appl: :appl:

Also, thanks for the warm welcome ladies!

-MM

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Pils I think I feel better without having to temp...we'll see if it works though :))

ALLY YAY! How exciting!!!!! Thanks for posting a pic, I just love seeing those lines!!!

AFM, nothing much has changed. On CD 11 today. OPK test line has barely been showing up at all, hopefully it changes within the next few days...I was hoping I'd have a fade in pattern, I think that's what it's called. I did order the WIDE Wondfo OPKs and they should be here today, so I'm hoping these will be easier to see!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ally, yay! So exciting. It's true, once is all it takes!

Dress shopping was a success. We went to two stores and there were two dresses I liked at store 1. Then after store 2 we decided to go to store 3 just to check it out...and of course that is where THE dress was. Actually there were two I loved and it was sort of hard to pick...but here's what I ended up with:

Ally, congratulations! How awesome!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ally - Congrats!!

AMC - beautiful dress!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congratulations Ally, what a wonderful surprise!!! So happy for you, especially since you were starting to wonder if you were even ovulating! Now you get to join all of the other recent ladies with BFPs, you lucky girl!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

ALLY! :appl: :appl: I'm so elated and happy for you!! Dust for a sticky, sticky bean!!

AMC:  You look stunning!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thank you Marlie, NEL, LC, Mary, Missy & AMC, Pilsn, MP, Brown_Eyes & Lizzy!

Mary: Welcome and I hope your stay here is short and sweet!

Lizzy: So glad to hear the HSG wasn't painful. Hope you have good news at the scan tomorrow. Crossing my fingers that there's one nice sized follie for you!

Bright: Hope you're having fun in New Orleans!

MP: Thanks for the congrats on the position. I got the position in May but there were some kinks we had to iron out. Once those were fixed, we were up and running and it's been quite busy. I hope you had a nice and relaxing weekend. Are you gearing up to O again? The good thing about your cycles is that it's normal length. I'm hoping your September appt will be a pregnancy appt! I'll continue to cross my fingers and toes for your BFP!!

AMC: Wow, what a beautiful dress on you. Very classic and timeless! Love it on you!

Pilsn: Have you been traveling for work or leisure? If it's the latter, it certainly helped me get a BFP. Also, it's quite possible to get pregnant right when you get off BCP (another former TTC'er, Pancake, is proof).

Marlie, NEL & LC: Thanks ladies! I'll join you in the JBP thread in bit ... once it has sunk in a little more.

I'm estimated to be at 3w5d (based on my ovulation date). My dr's office just called me and had to reschedule today's appt because he had an emergency labor. I'll be 5w2d at that the new appt. DH and I are just in shock. I mean we knew we were trying, but just didn't think it would happen this cycle. I'm definitely feeling the fatigue already, and that seems to be the only symptom.

Thank you ladies so much for all of the support you have given to me. I love you gals! ::BIG SQUISHY GROUP HUG::

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ally congrats again! Goes to show that once is enough if the stars are aligned! It probably works out better to have your appointment a little later. Enjoy your shock and excitement!

amc, that dress is very flattering on you! Good choice!

Missy, the opks can be a bit unpredictable. Sometimes mine will seem to be getting darker than get lighter again just before becoming positive. If you have another 30-some day cycle, it might still be too early for darker opks. Just be patient, and hopefully you will get a clear positive soon.

PPM, hang in there. Hopefully you will regulate quickly! I distinctly remember DH having the same kind of reaction the first time we BD'd sans protection. Even though we are married and decided we wanted to try for a baby, it felt scandalous :)

Hope everyone else is doing well. I'm about 7 dpo. Time to start BD'ing every other day for the next week or so. We had been doing the every day thing, but I think I'm going to try giving DH's swimmers a little warm up time in between this cycle. Can't believe this will be our 6th cycle of trying already. I just want to be pregnant already!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats Ally! What a great way to start a Monday! Coming here and seeing a BFP. :-)

Love the dress AMC! It's really gorgeous!

Good luck with the BDing MP! Are you on CD 7 or 7 DPO?

Lizzy- Continued good thoughts headed your way as you make it through the rest of the testing for this cycle. I hope you are able to feel comfortable going for it after your post-Clomid u/s if it seems like the risk of multiples is low!

Missy- Hope you catch your surge on the Wondfo's and have some well-timed BDing!

PPM- I have a feeling my DH will say something similar when we finally pull the goalie. I laughed out loud at your "pull and pray." I've never heard that before!

Well my first cycle off of BCPs was exactly 28 days. As I mentioned before I wasn't temping with the right kind of thermometer (knew I was incorrect, just didn't have the BBT). I've only tempted 3-4 days this cycle due to travel and waking up at 4 am with a terrible headache last night. Got up to get ibuprofen without temping so I ruined my chance. I am thoroughly enjoying being off of the pill. I think my libido is coming back a bit after a solid month off. My first visit from AF wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be. Fingers crossed this is a pattern and she isn't too wretched.

I plan to start using the Wondfo's in a few days (I'm on CD 7) and I'll come back later this month to share a chart if I'm having trouble reading it. Anywyay to the waiting-to-TTC land for me! I'll be rooting for those of you who are actively TTC!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Claritek, congrats on a successful first cycle off BC. Hopefully you will know all there is to know about your cycle when you start TTC. And yes, you are correct that I am on CD7 not 7dpo. I always mess that one up!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Mary- Welcome!! :wavey:

Amc- I love your dress! Good pick!!

Pils- DH was the same way when we started! The first time we BD without BC he goes “this feels funny, like kinda squishy” haha sorry TMI!!! I guess it’s now a different form of “pull and pray”(by the way, I love that you used this phrase!!), because we’re praying to get pregnant, not praying to NOT get pregnant!

Monkey- I know, everything seems to be unpredictable when it comes to TTC!!

Claritek- Glad your first cycle was a smooth one! My first cycle off BC wasn’t so bad either...34 days and a little cramping but I can handle it. I was paranoid that I was going to be a mess. I think my libido is coming back too!! Let's hope it stays this way for both of us!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

MP- Let the BD marathon begin! I could be wrong, but I think the E.O.D. method worked for a lot of PS ladies. I've heard that every day BDing doesn't give swimmers enough time to build up since the last.. er.. output. Not sure if this is fact or fiction, but knowing swimmers can live for a while, E.O.D. should cover all bases.

Claritek: Not too shabby for coming of BC! So many women have a rough time regulating after taking the pill. I'm glad that your body got right back on track. Let us know how you like the Wondfos. Post pics if you see any fade-in patterns... I love analyzing ovulation strips!

Nothing new here (no surprise, I just posted the other day...) I've officially stopped spotting and now want to avoid BDing like the plague in the event ovulation does occur. To those who inquired: DH and I will actively try in August. Getting PG in July wouldn't be the end of the world, but for job reasons we want to hold off. No more risky business for us!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi Ladies! I hope you are all well. I'm going to try and do a quick catchup!

Ally ~ Yay!!! Congratulations on your BPF! You are proof that it only takes one time! I love your pictures too, you cant argue with 3 BPF's!! How are you feeling? Do you have any symptoms yet? The oysters were great thanks :cheeky: I think we will become a regular customer of this lady until we get a bpf, we both love oysters and I think its a great excuse, you know, because oysters are full of zinc and thats good for the swimmers. AF is expected tomorrow, so im just patiently waiting and trying not to read into the 'symptoms' too much.

MP ~ Good to see you are gearing up again. I think every other day is a great way to cover all of your bases without going too crazy. It's a nice balance. We havent managed to actually achieve that yet but I'm sure we will get there one day.

amc ~ the dress is lovey.

missy ~ good to hear that AF wasnt so bad for you the first time round, its hard to know what to expect after years on bc. How are you going with those opks?

brightspot ~ how are you going? I have no experience with soy isoflavones, but it sounds interesting! Do you have a trip to the DR planned or are you waiting to see how things pan out on their own first?

MQ ~ thanks for checking on me. Still here in the tww which should end tomorrow. I have been following you in the BPP thread. Hope you are still feeling good.

sba ~ smoked oysters are nasty! I like fresh oysters but those smoked ones are stinky and make me gag! Sounds like you have an RE that is one the ball! Its great that you have some answers and you can now move forward in the right direction. Fingers crossed it is not going to take long to get you ovulating and KU!

lizzyann ~ how is the chlomid / testing going? I have been thinking of you. Great to hear that the HSG was all clear and not that bad at all.

Merry ~ welcome! It's great to have somewhere to go to talk about this stuff isn't it?

PPM ~ I LOLed at the 'pull and pray' comment. Thats a good one! You are right about swimmers needing 2 days to build up to their full capacity. August isn't very far away for you guys at all!

Claritek ~ yay for a smooth return to your normal cycle and for your libido! It's certainly nice to get that back ::)

Hello to anyone I have missed.

AFM ~ still here! Trying not to put too much stock into any 'symptoms' that i may or may not be having. AF is due tomorrow and I have these huge, heavy tender bb's that i can feel when i walk which is something that i havent experienced in quite a few months, they started last week and i said to DH, 'geeze my boobs feel heavy/full' and he responded with 'i know! i looked at them last night and they looked pregnant!' (he is of course, an expert on all things pregnancy related) :cheeky: lol, but then on the other hand i had an epic breakout a few days ago which is usually an indicator that AF is on her way. I'm 90% sure that she will turn up like clock work tomorrow, but it's kinda fun to have a little hope/ anticipation as well. oh well, not long to wait now anyway.

Have a great day/ evening ladies!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Ally - yay, congrats!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: Can't wait to see you over in the JBP thread!!

MP, dear friend, have a ton of fun BDing! It's the best part of this thing! I really hope this is your month... just know we're pulling for you!

Everyone else - I wish I had time to get to all of you but I am about to fall asleep on my keyboard. I will check back soon!
