Holy smokes, your wife''s ring is going to be phenomenal! Can''t wait to see the finished product. Thank you for sharing your story.

That is going to be a stunning and significant piece of jewelry! She''s a lucky lady and I am sure she will remember that every time she looks at you. :)

Love the sidestones for such a center stone! Great taste and lucky wife!

Tomorrow, her 3.69 ships to NY for the trade.

Hopefully, have the pictures of the finished product by the end of the week. If not, the following week.

That is one fabulous, substantial cushion! It will be wonderful and classic with the baguettes. Hope you''ll come back with photos of the completed ring too

Congrats. Can''t wait to see the finished ring!

I hope I misread your posts and you didn''t trade in her grandmother''s ring for the "keeping up with the Jonses" upgrade.

That ring is going to be stunning. I can''t wait to see the finished product!

That''s going to be a fabulous once in a lifetime ring! Will it come with a little sling for her ring finger

Lovely! Now that is a rock!

Wow!!!

WOW! I hope she''s got good sunglasses!

Wow what a stunning ring she will have. It will be gorgeous. What a great story too.

Calling it a "keeping up with the Jones''s upgrade" is very mean spirited. We have no idea what the upgrade means to the OP and his wife.

I also don''t think it is fair to make judgement call on other people''s decision. If the OP decided to make the trade and think it is worth it, more power to him. From your post, I can see that you wouldn''t and, if it were your diamond, your choice.

The OP made the first reference to "keeping up with the Joneses" in his first post.

The post wasn''t meant to offend or written in a mean spirited tone. I was basically just quoting what the OP stated. My inquiry was not to be judgemental but based on the orginal statemnets made I was just curious and confused as to why they would want to upgrade such a beloved and admired stone. But you are right, none of my business.

OP, I love your cushion. I think that''s just the way a cutlet should be in this particular diamond. It''s really very stunning. Thanks so much for sharing your story and pictures.

I am pretty certain he was making a joke about keeping up with the Joneses. He seems to have a very dry sense of humour.

Really don''t have to keep up with anyone. Kind of set our own trends.....

As to trading in her grandmothers ring......I could always have her post but when given the opportunity to trade, she jumped. Remember, I did not pick this diamond or setting. It was all her''s. Could we have kept her other ring.......of course. But, who needs 2 large diamond rings (you only wear the nicer one). Her earings are bigger (combined) than the ring we traded. I asked if she wanted to keep it and she said she would never wear it once she received the "bigger/nicer" one.

Just letting everyone know, since it seemed to concern some. The wife is not concerned........

Thanks.

I thank you very much.

Hopefully will have pictures before the ring is sent to us. My photo''s are terrible.

We have been told the ring will be finished before the weekend or at the latest, the beginning of next week. Hopefully they will take pictures and I will post. Should I start another thread or post in this one?

Again, thanks for all the compliments.

I know that I did not search as long as some of the other posters on the forum but importantly, my wife was happy with what I found and will be happy with the finished product.

I vote new thread, that beauty is going to need it''s own page!!!

Wow! Congratulations and please include some handshots when you''re able to post pictures of the final ring.

I vote, actually, for adding it to this thread. I like keeping things neat and in one place. ;)

I should also mention, that we saved somewhere in the vicinity of $6K - $9K in NYC taxes by having the ring shipped to NJ. We have saved the NJ tax prior on large purchases by giving our FL address for shipping.

This is something everyone on the forum should consider when purchasing something expensive, if you have another address or relative or friend, have the item shipped to them and save the tax.
