qqq - wow, looks fabulous! I cannot wait to see your ring. I know it'll be mind-blowing.
Maytal does not have a website yet - but she will soon! (I've told her to hurry it up!)
Maytal truly is such an incredible designer. She went out on her own AFTER I had my ring made, and I am still wishing she had done it. There's something special about her work. She's made quite a few of my friends rings, and they are all gorgeous. (Not to mention she's just about the sweetest woman on the planet! And she loves, loves, loves what she does.)

I know it has been a while since I last posted, but I finally got the ring finished, and last weekend I proposed to my girlfriend of 4.5 years (now fiance - still sounds weird every time I say it)!! Oy yeah, she said yes
And now for some pics, although these were taken with a not so great digital camera, so bear with me. Her father took some amazing pics on his really nice camera, I am just waiting for him to send me the files....

These pics were taken in a hotel room in really bad lighting with a rather inferior digital camera, so I apologize for their quality. However, my fiance''s father took a bunch of pics with a much better camera, and they look 100x better. He''s not too computer savvy though, so I am going to go over this weekend and download the shots. Also, the designer of the setting had photos taken of it by a professional photographer, and I am waiting on those from her. So, there should be more eye candy for everyone in a couple days. The ring looks so amazing in person, the pics just don''t do it justice! If anyone needs someone incredibly talented to design their setting you should seriously check out the lady who did this, she''s amazing!

She had no idea about anything. She didn''t know I was proposing, she didn''t know about the ring, nothing. All I can say is that she was so completely surprised, her reaction was priceless. She just kept asking over and over again, are you kidding me, are you serious, no way - you''re serious? She said afterwards she doesn''t even really remember me asking her to marry me or if I was down on one knee when I asked. Yeah, that''s her, althuogh she just got married this past Saturday, so I think the last name is Hannah now. She showed me a lot of pictures of her other work, it is absolutely gorgeous...really flawless stuff. I''ll see if I can get some more pics from her to post.Date: 4/13/2006 10:06:27 PM

When I visited with Maytal last week, she showed it to me. It was so incredibly gorgeous. She showed me a bag of pink diamond melee, which she got your stones from. I wanted to swallow it! The stones were amazing. She used some of the prettiest pinks, I've ever seen. And the Royal Asscher... oh my GOODNESS!
I was really bummed she didn't make mine when I saw yours. (I found out she had left Michael Beaudty just one week after I ordered mine! Bleh. She's making me some other goodies though!!)
She's good though. Really, really talented.

She absolutely loves the pinks (I knew she would). And I agree, those pinks are so vivid! I asked her if she would have preferred all white diamonds, and she said no way, she wouldn''t want it any different. She was really impressed with the uniqueness of it.
As far as hand pics, I am actually heading out to her parents house today, the pics are already taken, just need to upload them from her dad''s camera. So I will try and post them this afternoon.

I am coming to find that women really want to hear all of the details behind the engagement, so I figured I would share the proposal story with you all. Here it goes...
So having found the perfect diamond for Erin (my now fiance), and having found the perfect person (Maytal) to design the setting for this perfect diamond, I planned a weekend trip for us down to Newport Beach. Now keep in mind that she has no hint of what I am about to do (or the ring), or that I am even close to proposing to her. I disguised the trip under the premise that I had just gotten my bonus at work and had some extra cash, so we should go away for a nice weekend. Also, it was going to be her birthday the following week, so a lot of what follows I played off as birthday surprises.
Here''s how it went down...
A few weeks prior to the proposal day, we were at Baja Fresh and there was a boutique next door that was closed. As we passed by she had mentioned how much she loved the dress that was in the window (made a mental note). I went and bought her the dress without her knowing and put it in a gift box. When she went to work on Friday (prosposal day) I went over to her place and put the dress on her bed with a little note that saying that I had gotten her a lil birthday surprise, please put it on and call me when you are ready to leave. I also put a note on her front door telling her that there was a little surprise waiting for her inside on her bed. So she got off work at 2 as we had planned, and came home. In the meantime I am waiting just around the corner from her place in a stretch limo to wisk her away. So she walks in sees the dress, flips out, calls me, etc. She finally is ready to leave and call me to come pick her up. So I show up at her door, get her stuff and we walk outside where the limo is waiting. She doesn''t even realize the limo is for us at this point, she''s just wondering, oh who''s that for. Then she realizes (I''m just standing there with a smirk on my face) and we get in. Off to Newport Beach we go. I had made dinner reservations for this nice restaurant inside the hotel we were staying at. So we arrive at the hotel, check in, and then head down to dinner. At the dinner table I tell her I forgot my wallet, and I go back upstairs to do some real quick preparation. I come back downstairs, we have a lovely meal and some drinks, and then head back up (the moment is nearing). I make her wait outside for a minute as I make the last minute preparations. Ok, it''s time. She comes in to the candle-lit room with rose petals strewn all over the floor and bed. All this time I am telling her that this is all for her b-day. Then I tell her the sweet, loving things that a man who is about to propose tells his girl, and I tell her I have one last surprise, and that she has to close her eyes. I got down on one knee, opened the ring box, and told her to open her eyes. When she opened her eyes I asked her to marry me. She was so shocked and surprised, she just kept repeating over and over, are you serious? are you kidding me? are you serious? Yes, I most definitely am. Finally she calmed down enough to say yes, of course. Then it was just a million questions, about the ring, about when I had started thinking about doing this, etc. It was absolutely prefectly magical. I really couldn''t have pictured it going any better.

(I must admit that your first rather cursory description of the proposal had me wondering....it certainly didn''t match the grandeur of that ring!)

That ring is incredible. I have loved Beaudry''s work for so long but the premium he places on his pieces is outrageous. I am so happy for you that you found this designer. We need more info - this might make me get off my duff get a desicion made.
