The Show your Paraiba or Copper bearing tourmaline thread

Ah!

YR now has its 5.67 twin up for sale?

Nope. She used an old listing. The size is 4.78 x 3.31mm. I wish she would be more careful about that. It's confusing.

ETA: Oops, I can see theredspinel beat me to it.

Great beautiful shot!
Speaking as someone who had a stone drop down an air vent....how nervous I can imagine this was!

Absolutely! The one inside was taken over a blue pillow...just in case.

Yes, it's just the reflection on the rose gold basket. It's a 2.07ct green cuprian tourmaline from Mozambique. Here's a photo of the side profile so you can see it better. 20170620_082446.jpg

I know I've said I love this ring before, mochiko42
It is so beautiful! But I just noticed the gold "pan" (lack of knowledge for a better word) under the gallery that rests on your finger. Is it solid?
Does it contribute to the luminosity reflections the scallops seem to generate?
What a great design!

Here's one I got yesterday.

What a beauty. Where did you find it? And could you please share the specs. Looking forward to see this set.

I got this from a popular vendor here, Yvonne Raley. I originally bought one of her cabochons, but when I got it, I just wasn't in love with it. So I returned it and told her to keep me in mind if she received any more stones. I got a message from her last week telling me about this stone and a round one. I decided to go with this one. It's only 0.57 carats 7x4 mm. I would like to have it set similar to sparkliesluver's paraiba, but this stone might be too small for that.

Here is another paraiba I got from Yvonne on Etsy. This one is 1.37 carats and 8x6 mm. It's more of a blue green color with some green at the edges but still quite nice.

A small paraiba from Yvonne. I decided to return it and keep looking for (and saving up for!) one that is a little bigger and bluer. So let Yvonne know if you want to be added to the waiting list for this one! Shown here with 2 small Russian demantoid also from Yvonne. The demantoid have insane color and dispersion and not yellowish brown like the demantoid I've seen before. Green like tsavs, a touch silky like emeralds, but sparkly like sphene is how it looked to my amateur eyes. Kind of like Christmas tinsel! :D

I love how bright and sparkly the demantoids are.
Glad your going to keep searching for a bigger and even better paraiba. It's got some stiff competition with your cuprian ring (which is already amazing).

Not sure! Definitely a ring. I could use some recommendations on stones or colors that would complement the main stone as either side stones or a halo. Thanks!

It's the one that was too small to be a match for your 5.6mm! Just under 5mm.

Ahh thank you I was getting really excited there!!!

Hopefully @mochiko42 chimes in. She has a great eye for beautiful colour combinations with Paraiba and other colored stones

I think the possibilities are endless. I think it looks beautiful next to so many colors. I've actually considered doing one with yellow sapphire (see pic below). Here are some combos I've seen.

With hauyne and paraiba melee

There's no need as Elle already did a great job of suggesting colour combos :D The PS hive mind is awesome!

Elle, I do like the suggestion of yellow with paraiba. It would look like Lilly Pullitzer or a tropical beach cocktail, I think! I had been thinking about this color combo for a while, actually.

Greener Paraiba paired with a lighter pink is also nice. I had a green cuprian haloed with baby cotton candy pink sapphires before and I loved the color combination.

Thank you for all of the color combo suggestions! I also love the yellow combo too! Very bright and happy. How about a light purple color? I was thinking that since the stone is a touch green, a purple color could pair with it.

I think a light purple would look awesome. I couldn't find a pic to show that but I just know it would be a luscious pairing.

I picked up some of the lemon yellow sapphire melee, from Yvonne, during her sale. I'm going to have to get a pic of them together. I don't wear a lot of yellow, which is holding me back, but I just know it would be a beautiful ring. Lilly Pullitzer sounds about right! :lol-2:

Here ya go! And I know, the last one is opal not paraiba, but the color is similar and I just liked it! :)

Ooh purple looks fantastic with the blue / green of the paraiba!

Whoa, this thread is becoming much too dangerous now. Some color combos are like ketchup and fries or sushi and soy sauce - they were just meant to be...
