Encourage @voce to share a group pic of her glowies. How will she set this one from Yvonne? Stay tuned

Yvonne is a great source for Paraibas. A gorgeous green Paraiba for @leslie1956 for a RG stacker by Cecile Raley designs

Hi everyone!

I haven't posted for a while, but long story short... I was supposed to hold out on buying gemstones after my last purchase, an aquamarine, but just like it happened with many of you, I saw a Paraiba and I got completely hooked :kiss2:

I'm not going to lie, at first I was skeptical, because they look so unreal, but once I learned how special they were, AND THAT COLOR! which happens to be one of my favorite colors, so I just couldn't resist.

Now, I knew that whenever I got one, I wanted it to be a TRUE Paraiba, from Brazil, preferably untreated, and leaning blue. A tall order! I'm from Latin America, so the idea of having a "local", ethically sourced stone was extra special to me. It took a while to find the right vendor, but I finally did!!!

This is the glowy baby I got, my very first Paraiba:

I just got the GIA report, and it's confirmed as a completely natural Brazilian stone!!! Yay!!!!!

Now... I don't have it with me yet, but it would be great to think about how to set it. Any ideas? All the rings here are so amazing, and with great color combos! I'm such a fan of your rings!

This is a 3mm stone, so I'm thinking either a dainty stacking ring (diamond three-stone), or play it up with an elaborate setting like a halo or an open work design... @elle_71125 has mentioned protection is important and a ring would still need to be babied, so your advice is super important to me.

How would you set it?

What a colour!!!! Congrats with your amazing stone. It has such an amazing glow.
For a setting I love these elegant stackers by Yvonne Raley. These are from @leslie1956 . Gorgeous!!

A diamond and Paraiba halo like @elle_71125 ‘s, would also be stunning for your lovely stone

Congratulations on your first paraiba! Your stone has great color and presence. Unfortunately, Yvonne doesn't set gems that she doesn't source. I would check out her Etsy shop, Cecile Raley Designs, though, because she has a great selection of small gems that would look great with you paraiba. A three stone ring with your gem and two other 3 mm or slightly smaller stones could be cute. As for a setter, I'd reach out to David Klass, he has an excellent reputation here on PS for excellent work and fair prices. Hopefully some other PSers can give you more design ideas :-)

Personally, I would halo the crap out of it. I’m a bit of a halo hoe so take it with a grain of salt but here’s my reasoning:
1. Bubble of protection (because you will knock that ring into something, one day).
2. Finger coverage (Nuff said).
3. Sparkle factor. Gemstones pop against a diamond halo. :lickout:

Here’s a few random ideas for some inspiration:
ETA: if you go with a colored halo, Yvonne is your gal. She sells the best colored melee (and often runs sales).

Double halo for maximum blingage.

You may want to start a new thread for this, since this is only a photo thread, and not for setting ideas.

This isn’t mine, but I stopped by Joe Escobar Diamonds to set some stones. They showed me this certified Brazilian Paraiba tourmaline. I could only see inclusions through the loupe. :eek2:

To stay on topic, here is my itsy Mozambique cuprian. *cough*

MariMeow, What a gorgeous stone. Would you be willing to name the vendor who sourced it for you ? It is simply stunning.

Hi GLbluegreen! Thank you so much! :wavey:

His name is Charles Brian Ferreira, he is Brazilian but is based in Connecticut. He is on eBay and Instagram, as far as I know. I'll ask him about the name of his eBay store and get back to you ;-)

Charlesbrian is his eBay store. I asked him about a few small paraiba stones before :)

MariMeow and lovedogs, Thank you both for replying. I have not heard of this vendor but I am assuming your transaction went well and you would recommend him. I have a very similar brazilian Paraiba that is a round and just slightly larger than yours but still under a carat, but it just doesn't have the rich glow that your does. So I am always on the hunt ! Thanks again for sharing.

@leslie1956 congrats on finally having this done! I'm surprised you set the demantoid garnets on the side. :P2

@leslie1956 congrats on finally having this done! I'm surprised you set the demantoid garnets on the side. :P2

I set them on the side due to the limited surface area of the ring. I didn't want the engraving to be obscured by the demantoids. I'm so glad this is finished, four-plus months is a long time to wait!

@leslie1956 I saw that earlier today on her site and thought, "there she goes again!" It is lovely, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it immensely!
