Dear Persephone,

You''re certainly not going to make enemies here by preferring colored gemstones to white diamonds!

If you''re looking for an engagement ring, I would definately consider the hardness of the gem as well. In South Africa for instance, where Tanzanite is the number 1 colored stone, they now market the gem for engagement rings... As much as I like Tanzanite, I believe this is quite dishonest (and in the long run, will not serve the gem).

Personally, I think that a colored gemstone engagement ring is a fabulous idea!

I get a lot of attention from mine and my good friend is thinking about UPGRADING her diamond engagement ring to a gemstone... I''m all for it!

Persephone,
I went onto Vera Wang''s website and found the ring in platinum. It is my absolute DREAM setting. I want to give a picture of it to my mother, but I can''t seem to copy or save the image off of the website. Maybe it is like that on purpose. Anyhow, do you happen to have a picture of it that you can post on here. If you don''t have a pic of the platinum one, but do have a full pic of the gold one that you posted part of, that would be helpful too.

Thanks a bunch!!!
Sent you a PM!

I think the stone you chose is just incredible!
I''m going to ask an uneducated question here, but what kind of stone is that in your avatar? It''s beautiful!!!
