What are your thoughts on this halo...is it too big compared to the center stone? I'm also contemplating milgraining the bezel to hopefully help soften the look a bit...

Sorry the picture is sideways, I'm not sure why it did that

I think the halo is big, but as to whether it's too big, it seems like a personal preference issue in this case. It doesn't scream disproportionate to me as some other halo styles do. If you want a big look overall, this should accomplish it!

I agree 100%

Some times I look at the picture and think it looks ok as is. Other times I think it looks too big

I'm usually a very decisive person but for some reason this setting is throwing me for a loop!

It depends on your preference. I think it gives you great finger coverage, if that's what you're going for. I prefer a more dainty look and if that's what you prefer then the halo is too big for your stone.

Here is a video I took at the store. I apologize in advance for the commentary. I don't know how to edit that out :?

Nah, it's gorgeous ! I don't like the "small center stone, double chunky halo " look at ALL, but this seems to fit well with that particular stone and and ring style. I would be more than happy to rock that ring ! Any more details you'd care to share ?

What are your thoughts on the bevel? Keep it...get rid of it...millgrain it??

I'm usually not one to like a larger halo, but for some reason, this works. I like it a lot -- and I love the bezel! If I were to have it milgrained, I would want delicate, perfectly "beaded" milgraining.

Thanks msop04! I was thinking the same thing...a nice delicate milgraining. I was hoping this would soften it a bit. Right now the bezel is the first thing I notice.

I'm driving myself crazy with this! Now i'm thinking no bezel claw prong set instead….?!? :errrr: I have been reading that a bezel can affect the diamonds sparkle?? I seriously think i'm going to lose my mind before this is all over!

For fancies I prefer prong set halos.

Looks good. I'd milgrain the bezel to soften the look a bit. Other than that, I think you're good to go. A bezel won't affect the sparkle, and bezels don't snag on clothing. They also protect the edge of the stone more than prongs do, although this won't be much of an issue with this ring.

It's a big halo, but for some reason it really works for the stone and for me. I like it!

And, I like it without the milgraining, so that the shape of the cushion isn't swallowed up by the halo. I like the clear demarcation between the two.

That stone is breathtaking!!! I love the second photo you posted.

I love the larger halo!

This is a gorgeous setting. It looks to have a very fine milgrained bezel with claw prongs set above it. I like the look of this (bezel) because it show a clear separation of the stone from the halo, and is more intentional. To me, this allows for a larger halo than if it had prongs only.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I really appreciate everyone's opinions on this.

I just received an email from Lynda at GOG. She spoke with tacori and they said they cannot do that halo with the smaller melee. However, they suggested doing the halo from the HT2607 (1.2mm pave) on the setting I am wanting. This would have to be done as a CAD and be approved before they will do it. I would have to pay $500 (non refundable) for CAD but this can be used towards setting she said. Does this sound like a reasonable idea?

This is a custom HT2607. This one is a 6 ct but this is what the halo would look like with the basket and shank of the other...

Is this pave going to be too small?
