hi PSers....any thoughts on these 2 diamonds? i like the stats of diamond 1 better, but the picture seems a little weird though...diamond 2 seems a little more apealing in the photo, but the cut is lower at "VG" & spread is listed as "good" on the HCA which concerns me a little... here are the stats:

BOTH are "J"; VS1; 0.90ct

diamond 1
Cut: EX
Depth: 62
Table: 56
Crown: 34.5
Pav: 40.8
HCA: 1.3
Polish: Ex
Sym: VG
Flour: Medium Blue
6.15x6.18x3.82

diamond 2
Cut: VG
Depth: 63
Table: 58
Crown: 35
Pav: 40.6
HCA: 1.2
Pol & Sym: VG
Flour: None
6.07X6.11X3.84

Both are priced the same at about $3020...if it was up to you & this was the only info you had...no idealscope images etc.,...which one would you pick?

What is the girdle variation and lower half sizes as listed on the report?

The 1st stone looks to have smaller lower half size, around 70-75% range. The second stone's spread, aka the diameter, is significantly smaller than the 1st stone, a well cut 58% table with a 35 degress crown should not have such a large depth, I think the girdle is thick for that stone to get it over the 0.9c mark where there is a sharp jump in $/carat.

Aloha StoneCold!!! much thanks for your reply....i have attached a copy of GIA dimensions & clarity plots off of the CErts below. looks like your right about diamond #2 having a thick girdle...will that affect the diamonds sparkle & brilliance? which one of these would you choose if you had too! hahahaha

I would prefer #1. Performance is not affected by the thick girdle but you could probably get a well cut 0.85c stone for about the same diameter, so you are paying for the extra 0.05c with nothing to show for it.

thanks again man...hoping to get this over & done with VERY soon!!

Would also go w #1. Agree w/ SC that the thk portion of girdle is unattractive from a weight POV, even if it is unlikely to be an aesthetic consideration IRL. More, though, the stone is small enough that avg facet size is already limited, it would benefit from fewer large facets that produce big, bold flashes rather than many smaller facets for splintery twinkle, given that the stone size predisposes these diamonds to twinkle anyway.

Hi Yssie...thanks for the input :D
