Hi all,
This is my first post but I've lurked for a loooong time. I'll make my first post count and get right down to it. I'm recently engaged and am trading up from my previous .74 to this stone (potentially) through my GIA gemologist dealer. Thoughts please! Here we go:
GIA stone 1.01 carat
Cut: Excellent
Colour: F
Clarity: VS2 (3 crystals)
Sym: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Total depth: 61.7
Table 57%
Crown angle: 35.5
Pavillion angle: 40.6
Pavillion depth: 43%
Fluoresence: none
Girdle: med-sl thick
(asked about girdle painting and there is none)
Thanks in advance!

What is the lower half size? Numbers look promising but verging on having some obstruction issue, due to averaging and rounding by GIA, so best to ask for an idealscope image or seeing it before committing.

Also, F VS2 might be a little overkill but that is just my preference. A G/H eye-clean SI1 would still look the same unless the 2 stones are side by side, then maybe you would notice the color.

What do you mean by lower half size? Do you mean the individual pavillion angles?
I do get to see it before committing, but it's going to be a few days before I get to see it because my jeweller has had it flown in. Verging on obstruction eh?

One of the facets of a diamond, usually size between 75-85%.

Obstruction. It is the the effect of a stone going dark when you view at it too close, all stones will have this, just how prominent it is going to be, how close you have to view it at for the effect to be visible. A well cut stone should not have this effect when viewing from about a feet away.

EDT:
The pavilion angle is on the verge of having obstruction issue, depending on the averaging and rounding of the numbers and also how well the facets placement are.

O.k. will look into that. Thanks!

So as it turned out my gemologist got the stone in but said that even though it was rated a VS2 (by GIA) one of the inclusions caused a reflection. He did say thought that the cut was amazing. But unfortunately this stone ended up being a no go. So we'll start from the beginning again. Thanks for you input Stonecold, I hope you'll still provide input on the next potential!

no prob. :)
