Cut is not that great

You might want to bump down your clarity and bump up the quality of cut (from experience looking for this sort of thing for my fiance).

VVS1 won't look any different with the naked eye, from an eye-clean SI1/2, if it is vetted by a reputable vendor. The cut on the stone you linked is not Ideal, and that is the main factor you want to maximize (quality of cut), to get the best performing stone.

I'll let others suggest settings, as that is out of my wheelhouse, but any of these vendors would be able to find you something comparable:

1.23ct, G, SI2
(should be eye-clean and will be one of the best cuts you can find):

Any of those three stones would make a great engagement ring. Just speak with the vendor about eye-cleanliness and overall performance, prior to plunking down the cash!

Hi Briann and welcome!

I would say no personally to the first diamond, it's certainly not a bad stone but you can definitely do better, the pavilion angle is rather deep which could lead to unwanted effects. The second you chose is better, this is what we call a 60 60 ( depth and table) which some express a preference for, they can be lovely diamonds if the other proportions are good. You could request an Idealscope image for that one or consider some of the stones our furry diamond fiend suggested if you really want to get a superb cut!
