Thoughts on this old euro…

I'm hearing loud and clear that colour doesn’t matter, or shouldn’t matter. And you’re right, perhaps I’m not a Diamond person… yet. I know that there is so much I don’t know, I’m trying to learn. I’m not worried about what other people think. I just want to be happy with what I choose where I must purchase online. That’s all. I guess that means learning more and being willing to take a risk on something that I cannot see in person before I buy.

Some online retailers do allow returns do you could try a ring in person BUT that does mean having a lot of money sitting out on a credit card until the return is processed.

I own some of these and they aren’t very natural unfortunately. There isn’t one that’s in that LM kind of range, it’s more like OP or even ST. But can’t hurt! It’s low cost.

Oh thanks for letting me know haha I'm tempted to get some to test for sizing.

Lots of people care about color. I just think when a person also wants a true antique and a deal and to maximize size, something has to give. And color for me just easily falls of the list of things to care about.

Definitely this!

Re: colour, that’s a fair point. You’re right that it would be easier to drop expectations there. A true antique is important to me. Budget is what it is. I know what I’d like for size, but I also know that’s likely going to have to change. I also should consider clarity and I’m still figuring out how that’s going to fit into the equation.

I took some time to think on the options you guys shared. I’m not going to go for the Diamond I shared initially. And even thought the loose stone you shared is amazing, buying it and having it set feels like jumping into the deep end of something I know nothing about. I also don't know of a place near me that would do that well. So I’m not going to do that. I liked the ring in the second link that Dreamer shared but, it didn’t make my heart sing. So I’m back to ebay searches. I was kinda hoping to buy in Canada to avoid the exchange but I’m not having success with that. lol I’m beginning to sound quite picky.

Now for my lurking confession….. I found a link the ‘Somebody’s got to buy this’ thread that is closer to what I like. I’ll put it below. What are your thoughts on this one? I’m not sure that it’s an old mine cut and I would like to find one of those. I do love love love the setting though.

I think that setting is amazing - so very art deco! I’d agree with the M-N assessment - but I suspect it’ll look much whiter than that in many lighting conditions. The cut looks lovely, but… the clarity seems to me to be up in the air, given the quality of the photos. If the clarity is reasonable, that would be a very nice price for that ring. Personally, I think it’s worth checking out, as long as it’s returnable.

I think with the original stone you posted the issue wasn’t color is was cut. A well cut stone looks whiter face up and you dont notice body color.

My issue with this is most of the cost is the setting and I personally prefer to invest in the diamond.

You don’t think 2K is a good price for a stone that is 1.10? I feel like loose stones in this size are often way higher than 2K

Sorry the listing was confusing bc it says 1.10ctw then the description (which I didn’t read before) says 1.10 for the center stone. Yeah it’s a good price including the setting.

And also I was confusing this thread with another person who recently posted about an OMC when I commented about poor cut and color above. So maybe better to just disregard me lol

Yes it’s odd it’s says ctw when the 1.10
Is the center which means that ctw is actually more ;) which is a nice bonus.
