I have a white gold three stone trellis type setting I''d like to set with stones. It''s a beautiful setting that deserves to be worn but I''m saving for other diamond projects right now. So I kind of doing this on the cheap. Budget: I''d love to be under $2000. It''s like this:

but mine has a 8x6 center, and 4x6 sides. I would love to do a sapphire center with diamond sides but I''d like to stay under $1000 for the sides and diamonds just aren''t possible with that budget. So... with a blue sapphire center what type of side stone would look good? I was thinking of possible doing a lighter sapphire side(like vivid blue center with light blue side)... or maybe a light yellow side. I saw some natural zircons at the jeweler but the cut was terrible. I saw some beautifully colored sapphires from montana(I think) but I doubt they look as good in real life as they do in the online pictures. I think I''d prefer radiant cut sides but emerald cut or even an oddly cut cushion cut would work. Any thoughts, recs, or even pics

?!? Thanks!!

...after looking around on PS, diamond sides would be in my budget if I skimped on quality... so tempting. I''m going to look into a light yellow side maybe even light brown or champagne.

So you want all blue right? I definitely think you are on the right track with Zircons for the light blue... as for dark blue... I know that Michael E has some... maybe he can send you one (you pay for it) and if you don''t like it you return it? I know his stones are very nicely cut. He''s a cutter so he could probably find you a couple of Zircons too. He won''t set stones in any settings other than his own, however.

No... not necessarily light blue. I''m open to ideas. I was looking at tanzanite today. The colors might go well but I''m thinking that''d cost nearly as much as diamond sides.

Yeah... I''m thinking the same thing. The more I look around, I think that a sapphire-diamond three stone is just so classy and if I went with anything else I would regret it.

What about white sapphire sidestones??

Ditto. Or white zircons... they cost less and are sparkly... not as hard as sapphires though. But they are pretty.

Ditto that for me too. The white zircon or white sapphire would be great. It might be hard to find that cut and the right size. Nothing is easy! But it would give you the diamond look and who would REALLY know? They might wonder but....?

Here''s the thing: isn''t it going to be impossibly difficult to find a matched, well cut pair of 4x6 emerald cut zircons/white sapphires?

I will start a new thread for this quest... I don''t think I can change the subject of this one. If I can''t find a decent set in a month or two, I''ll start the diamond search :)

Thanks.
