Josefine, these tiaras are quite nice. Thanks for posting. The last one I like most.

Bobby

That was my favorite too Bobby. Shall we start a bidding war on it??

Well, that's an idea, Maria! Since currently I don't have a princess to wear it, maybe if I win, I'll loan it to you to wear at a glittering event (or to impress the students).
But do have in mind that I can contact Bolin privately, whithout letting you know, and simply pay the asked price. Not that you can't do it as well...

Bobby

Bobby, do you have any info on E.T.'s tiara from Mike Todd? Wonder what its history is; I presume it wasn't new-made.

How did I not know this thread existed until today?? I love tiaras!

I have two, though sadly both are rhinestone. One is from the 50s or 60s with triangular points, and the others is really a headband, but I wear it low across my head, 1920s style.

If you like this thread, be sure to check out the Royal Jewels thread too!

Who cares if they are rhinestone? I have six tiaras, all rhinestone, and I love them all!

Post pictures of your tiaras Clio! I have mine posted earlier in this thread.

If I win the next teaching award (this is a national level one I'm working on right now) then maybe I should go for this one!

Maria, I really hope you win this award and I'm sure your hubby will present you with a nice tiara to commemorate the occasion!

Here are some tiaras I find beautiful:
The famous Harcourt tiara, made by Boucheron in the very end of the XIX c.
A diamond and platinum tiara by Cartier, 1906
A tiara in the Garland style by Cartier

A diamond tiara with opal drops. This is a redesigned version of an all-diamond tiara, also in the Garland style
An ears of wheat (or corn) tiara, possibly Victorian
A coral tiara

The old version of the first tiara in the previous post:

*drooling*

My favorite of this batch is the Cartier 1906. I like the one with opals and diamonds, but I think it would look better with diamonds or pearls in place of the opals.

Oh, that wheat tiara leaves me breathless! I love it.

Forgive the double post, but I finally took photos of my two little tiaras.

This is my pretty vintage rhinestone tiara. It's smallish but very sparkly.

And here is the headband that I wear low across my head, 1920s style.

I love them Clio! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who has her own little collection!

These two are very nice, Clio! Thanks for posting the photos!

Here are some more tiaras from my collction (of photos):
A simple ears of wheat tiara
A very nice (IMHO) Belle Epoque tiara and some other jewels of the same era
A Victorian diamond tiara

These two were auctioned by Sotheby's and they both convert into necklaces

A diamond and pearl tiara/necklace set in platinum, Edwardian, I believe

A diamond and pearl tiara/necklace; I must say I like it more as a necklace.

Pretty ones, including yours, Clio. I like Bobby's Edwardian one best as a necklace, beautiful. And the last one is a gorgeous tiara. I already posted all my favorites so have nothing to add till the next one comes along.

Oh wow, all these tiaras are amazing!!! :appl: :appl: I can't decide which one is my favorite of all the ones posted so far!

Found this while roaming around today. No info on it except that it dates to about 1860. I wouldn't mind having the whole thing. Sorry it's not sharper, I improved it as much as I could.

Gorgeous set, but I must say I'm surprised there are no earrings with it!

Thanks, all, for the kind word about my little tiaras. I am excessively fond of them.

I also love that simple wheat tiara posted above. Clearly, something about these ears of wheat tiaras is really speaking to me. I've also loved laurel wreath tiaras that I've seen (alas, only in photos). I just love nature motifs in jewelry.

How about a little oriental inspiration?

Here's a tiara from Thailand...

It is actually better to not wash or condition your hair for a couple of days

This one belongs to the Thai royal family. I've only seen Queen Sirikit wearing it when she was young.

I just came across these two photos of Kirsten von Blixen-Finecke, one of Queen Silvia's hofdames, from the State Visit to the Netherlands in 2009:

Here is a tasty tidbit I found in some random wanderings....the tiara is just labeled as "Austria tiara" but what I found really interesting was the case. I really need to think about properly storing my tiaras!

Lady Katie Percy, daughter of the Duke of Northumberland, got married today.

Is it just me, or is her tiara on crooked??

ladypercywedding.jpg

I'm afraid it's not only you, Maria... To my disappointmant this was apparently the itnention to wear this beautiful tiara in a rather odd way. Crooked, as you say. BTW, Ladi Katie also wore a nice diamond necklace.

You can take a closer look of the tiara and necklace here - http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/109456080/Getty-Images-News

And here's an article - Apparently the couple rode in an important carriage - http://www.berwick-advertiser.co.uk...es/fairytale_wedding_for_lady_katie_1_1467211

Good grief, what is the point of wearing a beautiful tiara if you're going to slap it on last minute at an angle? Seriously....

Is the necklace only diamond? It almost looks like the center stones in each cluster have a slight green tint to them (especially on the left). Or perhaps this is just a trick of the lighting?

OK, here are some photos of ladies-in-waiting from different courts wearing tiaras.
The first three are from Britain:
Her Grace the Duchess of Grafton, Mistress of the Robes to Elizabeth II

So when I compare this picture to the one I have from the state Saudi visit of 1981, it seems the Duchess of Grafton is not wearing the same tiara? This (look back on page 3 of the tiara thread to see the picture) has spikes to it, while the one I have is a fringe.
