I am proposing on Easter Sunday (April 20). After lurking and reading about cuts and HCA's, I am ready to make a purchase. The budget is 5k-7k for the diamond and I am set on a Legato Sleek Line (white gold vs. platinum is undecided at the moment). The diamond will be a round cut and I am not set on a seller. To start with, this diamond is on my very tip top of my budget:

I value your amazing input to lurkers like me. Your comments to others are always straight forward and supported with great wisdom and facts. What I hope to get from this post are recommendations on a diamond with the best value and consideration of the best quality. Let me know if there is anything else I can provide.

I thank you in advance and I will be refreshing this forum for updates!

Doesn't quite look like it would be eye clean. I would just drop down a color and keep the clarity up... just my personal opinion.

Once set I doubt you would be able to tell a difference between an H and an I

Whiteflash did not write 'certified eye clean' I would want that.. Congratulations on this momentous time in your life! sending happy vibes to you and your future fiancee!

I love the vibes! Much appreciation!!

Not an expert here, but love the diamond Rocky suggested with the second setting. :appl:

I am not well educated on the blue florescent. Does that take away from brightness?

Not at all. In VERY rare cases there is a cloudy/hazy aspect to the stone, but BG Blue and other vetted Blue stones (Diamonds by Lauren has a line, I know) are guaranteed not to have any negative effects. These stones are selected and/or cut, and then examined by an expert to be sure the fluorescence does not have ANY detrimental effect on the stone's performance.

It is a characteristic many of us specifically seek out in stones. I prefer fluor in all stones, but find it most beneficial in H,I,J colors.

Here is a link to read more about fluorescence: https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/diamond-flourescence

Great recommendations and information! Thank you very much RockyR and Gypsy!!

I feel like I would be paying $$ for something I did not appreciate.

Thoughts are either of these?

Both of those look great!

You may want to throw this one in the mix, if you want to put a few hundred more into the setting:

1.087ct, I, SI1

Calling BG will probably be the best way to determine which of these stones is preferable. If you go with ANY of these options, you will be choosing a top-notch stone.

I am pondering these Final Four. Any comments before I call? When I call, any suggestions other than, "Which one looks best?" I am looking the best fire, as these are all the same size.

Stones:

Also, I am looking for a simple setting. My girlfriend is a Physical Therapist hand works with her hands, so a setting with sharp prongs would not be ideal. But I do not want the prongs to detract from the diamond. Make sense?

Setting:

Thank you again in advance!

You made a great choice. Platinum setting is an excellent choice, as well.

The final product is going to be awesome!

Just wanted to say how great the fluor looks in this stone. Fluorescence varies WIDELY (not just Faint, Medium, Strong, Very Strong listed on reports), with regard to tint, intensity, and distribution.

The particular flavor of fluor in the stone you chose is one of my favorite varieties. Buy a blacklight flashlight now (cheap on Amazon), so you can check out the phenomenon in-depth upon the stone's arrival!

Congrats again!

Make sure to come back with pictures after the proposal!
