I have seen it posted in other threads that you can use Windex and a soft t-brush to clean your diamonds. Can I also use this to clean my ring with the spess? Would it be alright if I cleaned it everyday or every other day with the Windex.. or would it hurt my ring!! I don''t want it to look dirty.. But I do not want to mess it up either...

Help!

i would just use warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush. you can clean it that way as often as you like.

I do the same thing. The soap can be liquid dishwashing liquid, clear shampoo, or liquid bath gel. The later two work great when you are traveling.

Will the ''soap'' leave a residue on the stone at all?

Not if you "rinse" just as if you were washing your dishes, hair, or body

I''ve checked my diamonds with a loupe after I have used this method and they are clean.
This is also assuming that the pavillion of your stone is accessible.

Thank you! Do you dry your ring with a paper towel or cloth?

Yes, I have done that. But I have also just "blown" on it to get the water spots off the center stone. LOL, works great when you are a flutist.

HI:

My technique is the same as CFlutists--plus I have a small cloth (for cleaning the lens'' of eye glasses) that I use for the final shine once it is on my finger.

cheers--Sharon

I use lint free toilet tissue, it works great. Cottonelle is my favorite.

i''m glad Mine started this post...i was wondering about the care of color stones, particularly spess.

peace, movie zombie

Can you use ultrasonic and other professional cleaners for colored stones?

I heard that steam and such was not good for colored stones becuase they might have ''water'' in them?

My main ring is a sapphire, and I have found that my face wash does an EXCELLENT job. I clean it with a baby toothbrush every morning, and then dry it with my hair dryer on medium. Your ring, is just scrum-diddly-umptious. Spectacular!

Aww thanks.. I love it.

FI is afraid that I will clean it too much.... But I cannot help it... I love the way it sparkles..

What kind of facr wash do you use?

zest soap.
Work into a lather on your hands.
Rub into ring.
Soft brush scrub
Rince

No residue and it cuts greese and grime as well as anything out there.

I clean my stones every day. I lotion all day long, so I feel I have to. Gems can''t do their thing if they are all gunked up, can they? I am a skincare junkie, so I use lots of different face washes. Basically any of the foamy ones to the trick. Aveeno Self Foaming does a great job, for some odd reason.

I showed my husband your ring, and even HE exclaimed over it''s beauty. He usually just grunts noncommitally, he doesn''t want to encourage me.

He does love colored stones though.
