Ok so I have narrowed it down to these diamonds, please tell me which one is the better buy.

Let me ask this question as well. If i decide to go with just a GIA cert instead of a ACA becuase I am wanting a bigger stone, whats recommend. Any help is much appreciated

I know that these will prob have to be called in.

They are both gorgeous diamonds, my preference runs to the F - but you can''t go wrong with either.

If you want to go with a GIA Princess then a vendor like WF who has in house diamonds, and can do the analysis on them for you would be of immense help. As you probably know, GIA do not grade Princess for cut at this time, so images and a skilled vendor are extremely useful to help you choose the best ones.

Hi ib, LOVE your nic.

I have a suggestion, since you mention maybe wanting a bit more size. You can easily lower your color and clarity a bit, which would allow that, without sacrificing any quality/beauty. In very well cut stones, color will be masked some, so you can go lower, and still have a stone appear very white. Also, if a stone is truly eyeclean, it shouldn't matter what the "grade" says it is. Unless of course it a "mind clean" thing, which we understand.

So, having said that, here's one you might want to consider. Asking of course if it's eyeclean, by your standards. Don't let the plots and pics scare you, they are not representitive of real life.

Not sure if your budget will allow this one, you would take 2% off listed price.

Any ACA will be stunning. I personally would never pay for an E colored stone, but honestly I wouldn''t pay for an F eiither. I''d drop the color to maximize size, but I''d probably stick with an ACA because I''m a stickler for cut. Really color sensitive people would disagree with me though.

If you want a colorless stone, you won''t get much prettier than these!

That not much more and I like it just cause its bigger. I just want it to be eye clean. If the F color white, just dont want a dark diamond thats all.

Thats a nice diamond Miss Ellen picked! Just check it is eyeclean to your standards and it could be an excellent choice.

No way, not even close.

There''s no way in the world a GIA or AGS graded F will be dark. Princesses do show a smidge more color than rounds from what I understand, but even a G, H, or I will not be dark.

I just wanted to add that an F colour is colourless and will be extremely white and in no way dark.

Thanks all for your help, appreciate it alot. You can tell I am a noobie here

lol. I just wanted to ask about the clarity of it being a sl1 if that was something to worry about

We are pleased to be of help to you!

As to the clarity, a reliably graded SI1 can be an excellent choice if you aren''t fussed about having VS clarity and the SI diamond is verified eyeclean to your standards. SI clarities are not created equal so if you don''t want to see any visible inclusions at close scrutiny from any angle, make sure the vendor understands that so you are on the same page so to speak.

The fact that AGS grades princess cut diamonds for visual performance is an exceptional benefit in terms of increasing the odds of selecting a beautiful princess cut diamond "off paper" pending the physical evaluation process - it has reduced the return ratio of princess cut diamonds dramatically in terms of what is returned to the cutters for not meeting our expectations in terms of visual performance. I would definitely recommend AGS grading for princess cut diamonds over GIA grading in terms of increasing the odds!

Agreed!

And I would agree with Todd, if there is no other info available, that an AGS stone would be a much safer bet. But if we''re talking about GIA stones carried by many of our reputable vendors, that offer IS/ASET pics, etc., they can well be a very safe and beautiful choice as well.

I just want to add that I am pretty color sensitive and I have an ACA that is an F SI2. I love it. No color at all and I cannot see any inclusions. I would ask about a SI1 but chances are if they say it is eye clean then it is. You won''t have a dark diamond with an F . . . not even close.

Just got off the phone with chris at wf and I put a deposit down on it
31.gif
. Thanks ellen for finding that wondeful diamond. It is also eyeclean accoding to them. Is there any other questions I should ask him.

Well I am just waiting on my last w-2
29.gif
so I can call it mine
9.gif
. They are going to set it in this setting http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=261&rn=923&action=show_detail I will be buying next week hopefully. Did i do good with the setting or should I go with something else. Thanks again
That''s hard to answer, because setting''s are so personal. I really like that setting, but that''s because I have one almost identical to it!
9.gif
However, not everybody loves that setting. Many gals like settings that have slimmer bands, which in turn make the stone look bigger and "pop" more. Do you have any idea what your gal likes?

Thankies Lore!!

Most welcome Mam!!!

Ib, I also really like that setting, as El says some ladies like a thinner band to make the diamond pop but it is a matter of taste and that is a classic and elegant setting.

Similar size fingers to mine, the ring should look lovely on her! One can carry thicker bands with aplomb with larger fingers!
