The Princess Bride

Dave

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Movie

I know--not really any heavy drama in there...I guess movies I want to watch over and over again tend to be a bit more light hearted! Hard to choose just 5, though.

Ohhh, now if we''re taking movies I watch over and over again, I have a list that includes some VERY silly ones. Aside from Princess Bride, my BFFs and I are forever watching:

School of Rock
Dodge Ball
Wedding Crashers
Center Stage
Drop Dead Gorgeous
Clueless
Billy Madison
(I think Juno''s about to make the list too)

In fact, I''m pretty sure about 25% of our conversations are made primarily of lines from those movies. Poor DH. When all the girls are over, he just listens and looks half amused and half concerned.

Braveheart
Jaws - only the first one
Princess Bride
The Shawshank Redemption
Gone with the Wind

OK, that was 5, but, there are a few more I like a whole lot.
300 - hello beefcake!
How to lose a guy in 10 days

I love every movie that you''ve all listed with the exception of The Princess Bride. A friend was wild about and forced me to watch it. It just didn''t do it for me, but I know there are a lot of fans.

Legends of the Fall
Memoirs of a Geisha
Mildred Pierce
Gone with the Wind
Schindler''s List

I''m also a big fan of Finding Nemo and 101 Dalmations.

12 Angry Men

(I listed 6 because the OP listed 6.

I know the director. Great movie!

A Christmas Story
Breakfast at Tiffany's
When Harry Met Sally
Steel Magnolias
Elf

Ask me again tomorrow and I'll have a new Top 5!

"Fra-geel-ay...it must be Italian." LOVE this movie. I watch the marathon every year on TBS. I've made my family watch it so often with me that they refuse to do it again. We'll see about that. I can usually bribe them with chocolate chip cookies.

When Harry Met Sally is one of my all-time favorites too. I watch it whenever I catch it on cable.

I'll go with favorite genre, not movie. I'm a sucker for any romantic comedy, most of which are probably chick flicks. Serendipity, Say Anything, and Sleepless in Seattle are just a few that I love. I'm not sure I'd rank How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days as one of my all-time favorites, but I LOVE Matthew McConaughey (and Kate Hudson). I also love John Cusack and Jeremy Piven.

I watch the marathon every year, too! My whole family piles into my parents'' family room, we order a ton of Chinese food, and stare at the tube for HOURS. In fact, my first bridal shower was a holiday-themed shower, so everyone gave us wonderful gifts associated with a holiday. Well, we''re Jewish so technically we don''t need any Christmas items, but my mom assigned Christmas to herself and gave us two night lights of the leg lamp, wrapped them in brown paper bag paper, and carefully drew out the "FRAGILE" stamp on each one. It was HILARIOUS.

I also own a pink bunny hooded sweatshirt. My sister got it for me a few years ago for Chanukah. I might be a bit too obsessed with that movie.

Fancy>/b>--We speak "movie" too! My entire family does it. When I first brought my FI around my family he told me that he didn''t understand half of what we were talking about. I was baffled at first, and then I realized that we slip in vague references to movies about every other sentence. He''s catching up, now. I can watch any Will Ferrel or Steve Carell movie repeatedly. In fact, my sisters and I often rewind the best parts so we can watch them over-and-over-and-over again. I saw Semi Pro for the first time on our flight from London to the U.S. and apparently I was laughing really loudly because several of the students I was traveling with came over to see what I was doing.

Interesting thread!

My, so many of you are such *serious* movie watchers!!!
2.gif
I tend to prefer light-hearted movies with happy endings... maybe it's because of my profession (hospital social work) and the many sad stories I see and hear every day... it's just not what I tend to choose for entertainment. And also, I absolutely CANNOT watch pain or torture. No war movies, either.
14.gif

So, that being said, let me preface my list by also saying that I watch little to no TV and very few movies. Would much rather usually be doing something else. So, with that disclaimer, and off the top of my head... my favorite movies include...

1. Big (LOVE that movie, have seen it 3 times, a RECORD for me!)
2. Overboard (just cracks me up)
3. Dumb and Dumber (I know, I know... totally mindless and completely, outrageously stupid... and honestly, I'll be the first to admit it... but it just kills me with how stupid and shamelessly FUNNY it is!) -- *ducks* !!! --
4. Officer and a Gentleman (Richard Gere is a hottie!)
2.gif

I can't even think of a 5th one!
20.gif

ETA: Oh, just about anything with Drew Barrymore -- love her! And some of her movies are just so darn sweet! There, that should count as #5, right?!

Me too. Love the way he dances.
