Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU help?

Re: Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU hel

"I just like the middle chevron. I think the wider one looks better. I prefer them over other chevrons. Thats all. I am no princess expert, so I assume those smaller chevrons are better- I just dont like them as much"

OK, i guess you answered why, but it's still not a good cut stone...

A larger table means less fire.

See I am not into princesses. But I actually prefer the facetting of the 1.09

Why?? It's terrible! I agree with JulieN to request idealscopes for the last two.
I need a reason to find something more aesthetically pleasing?

No, but this stone isn't for you. The OP was looking for something that had better cut/brilliance. If the stone was for you, then absolutely not, whatever makes you happy is up to you! But as far as princess cuts go, that one does not have a good pattern. And I was just wondering why you thought something that wasn't cut well was nice? But I hadn't seen your last post so now I know why you like it.

No worries Nielseel! my apologies, I should have deleted my post asking again. I didn't see your other post about your explaining why until after I had submitted it.

Re: Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU hel

Thank you all for your insights... It is very helpful to have someone with more knowledge help, in any way.
I really appreciate you spending this time with me.

I think I will go to the next step and ask them for their gemologists' opinion, as you all suggested.

I have agonized less on buying a car than for this ring... Funny, huh?? :-)

Some other new buyer said this...And I always say, you should! It will last a LOT longer than a car!! The JA gemologists are very helpful and they will give you their honest opinion. I hope you put the ones you like/love on hold!

Re: Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU hel

Yes, I did put three on hold.
The ones all of you recommended and another one that I saw after that.
Now it's a waiting game ;-)
I'm looking forward to their reply.
Thanks again for all your help!
Now I can sleep a little better ;-)

Oh yay I hope that means its in yg!

Re: Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU hel

Yes, definitely Yellow gold.
That's my all time favorite - I'm very "traditional" in that way.
Simple is the word.
To me, that's the best way to "showcase" a diamond.
My wedding band is a 2 mm plain gold band, and I am very happy with the look.

Re: Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU hel

Hello again! I now have ASET files for the thee diamonds I selected. I will try to attach them here...
Can you please give me your inputs about how these rank?

THank you!

Re: Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU hel

the last one looks best, which one is that??

Re: Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU hel

And yes, it looks "best" but does it look good enough? What do you think?
I have not seen very many ASET images... ;-)

Re: Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU hel

Well, this one is the one with the best ASET - the last photo...

Re: Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU hel

When you look for stones, eliminate ones that have very thin girdles. Thin, medium, and slightly thick are the ones to look for. Princess cut stones are already at risk of chipping at the corners. You don't want one that has a very thin girdle and this one has such a wide variation in girdle size that it doesn't sound all that well cut to me. I suppose you can have their geologist examine the girdle and describe what percentages of very thin and thick it has.

When choosing a stone, you need photos of the stone (if you cannot see them in person), a careful look a the lab report to make sure there are no red flags (such as a very thin girdle or certain clarity characteristics), and the idealscope and/or ASET images.

Don't rush to choose a stone that may not be a good one.

Re: Torn to pieces about which stone to select - can YOU hel

For the size, I think that 3rd one is nice. There are others with better cuts but smaller, and it seems you really don't want to go smaller. Check with JA about the girdle and ask if it is a durability issue.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Ask the JA rep just to be sure.
