Ellen and Katebar,

Who wants a party to turn 50 anyway, HA!!! Give me a nice trip somewhere!!!!! Well, I turn 59 in September. EGAD. My girlfriend''s bday is today and she is down in the dumps because this is the last of our 50''s.

DH told me "big party next year" I told him "no party" nice trip next Year.

I am making enquiries with gem sellers regarding a RHR for my big 50!. I fell in love with Isabelle''s tiffany Legacy and would like to do a similar piece using green or golden stones.

One merchant has some Afghani Mint Toumaline that looked lovely and are the right size 2.5.

He has also recommend a Mali Garnet that looks stunning.

Thoughts on having a tourmaline would be appreciated.

I would like a sapphire or tsarovite but I think these are getting beyond my budget as the setting would be over $4000

Hi Katebar! I know I am responding late but I was out of town until yesterday. I think a tourmaline would look awesome. I have seen one in a Legacy setting and they really sparkle nicely set in the platinum setting. Since you are custom making the ring, you could do white gold setting as well and get the same effect of the green coming alive set against the white metal.

Ellen you need to *tell* your DH what you want. I live by the adage "if you don''t ask you don''t get" and I seem to get what I want

Linda I am excited about turning 50 because I feel only 30 lol. Turning 60 on the other hand may make me feel pretty crumby I think

Isabelle I have basicly decided on the Tourmaline either mint or blue green. I am now curently getting quotes for settings and the trying to find a stone. I hope to pick the completed project up in the USA in August.

Ooh, any pictures of the blue-green?

No but I have put it out there

Yes harriet and we had to pull a few strings to get in in May even though we booked in December!

Wow! I guess the concierge at my hotel does have a good relationship with Tetsuya''s. What else do you have planned while you''re in Sydney?

My husband wants to go to Rockpool (his fave) but I want to check out the IVy which has just opened up on George street a bit of shopping Fratelli or Bill''s for breakfast!

I''ve always wanted to try Rockpool. What about Icebergs?
