My neices are identical twins. They are 2.5 yrs. It is so fun to watch them! They talk to us but they love to talk to each other in some language that we do not understand. You can tell they understand each other though. Almost every night one of them gets out of their bed to join the other in her bed. They are so close.

OMG InLuv your neices are BEAUTIFUL!!!

My grandpa is a twin...I''ll have to find some pics. They have matching names, Harry and Gary (Gary being by grandpa). They''re 73 years old and eachother''s best friends. They live within blocks of eachother, and the story is that when my grandpa got married his brother cried because he felt like they were being torn apart. They came from a very poor family and slept in the same bed for most of their childhood...I definitly think there was separation anxiety when my grandpa got married.

Awesome thread!

My maternal grandmother had twin boys, then twin girls! My uncles, mum''s brothers, are fraternal twins, and incredibly different. My mum''s twin sadly died at birth, and there was no way of knowing then if they were identical or not. My dad''s got twin brothers, they are 54 and are absolutely identical, even now, despite idiosyncratic facial hair
37.gif
That''s about the only physical difference! They are very very similar, right down to the way they talk and interact with people. When they were young they each got appendicitis and tonsillitis within days of each other, and both had surgery to have the offending parts removed. One broke his leg at age 15 and his twin physically felt his pain in the exact same spot, same leg. Quite remarkable.

They say twins run in families and skip generations... no one in mum and dad''s generation had any twins... will I be next one day!?!?!

DH has always wanted twin daughters!

InLuv, your nieces are the CUTEST! Just gorgeous! Their eyes are so big and pretty! And I love that they have their own twin language!

What gorgeous twins!

My sister had 2 sets [can you imagine???!]

One of the girls [age 23] just had a baby [only one!] but he''s a cutie!

InLuv what gorgeous nieces you have!! They are absolutely precious!!..

DandiAndi they do say that fraternal twins are hereditary, wouldn't that be cool if you did have twins? I personally would love to have twins one day.

Thanks to everybody who has been posting.... it is a lot of fun to read all of your posts and see your pictures! I am a twin and I am still fascinated by other twins.

I also thought I would share something I remembered from childhood that I think is funny now.My sister and I had made a plan when we were little to marry identical twins so when we had kids they would be like siblings because their DNA would be the same, but that didn't work out haha.

That is hilarious! Quite a good plan, really.

Oh my, those girls are just beautiful!!!

I wish I could have twins. One of my friends is a twin (they don''t know whether they''re identical or fraternal, they look EXACTLY alike, but they''re not close in the way that identical twins often are) and every time I see them together I think about how much fun it would be to have twins. Lots of work at once, but so fun!

Inluv your nieces are GORGEOUS! And how cute that they are so close!

Inluv, I have told you before but your nieces are so stunning! They should be models! Seriously.

Wow InLuv-your nieces are absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks ams0124, thing2, Missjaxon, musey, miscka, tacori, & bee for the compliments about my neices. Wish I could take credit for all that cuteness

I showed my brother the thread & he was very thankful for your kind words.

These girls are absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Awwwww :) Reminds me of Jaxon and I

What a fun thread!!!!
Yeah for twins!!!
I am marring a twin next January. He is an identical twin, and also a mirror twin.
Unfortunately FI and his twin are not very close anymore. FI''s brother married a girl a few years ago and it seems she''s driven a bit of a wedge between them. FI wasn''t even his twin''s best man in the wedding. Eg.

Awww, that is so sad

It is terrible that a girl has come between them. I am so lucky that my FI is very understanding of my close bond with my sister and he completely supports it and even if he sometimes doesn''t understand it he is very sympathetic to me just needing my sister. I am very lucky to have him!

Jae and I are mirror twins as well.

I''m an identical/mirror twin. My sister and I were always very close, we used to have a bit of a codependency thing going on. We were born at 30 weeks and I have a disability and she used to blame herself, so she took it upon herself to watch over me and make sure I never got hurt.

She took it very hard when I became engaged at 21. She was going through hard times emotionally and she wasn''t ready at all for something like that in her own life, so she couldn''t understand how I could be. She was afraid that I was rushing into something I would regret and didn''t quite know how to deal with it, so she did and said things that changed our relationship forever. She was so afraid to lose me, so afraid that my upcoming marriage would fail that she insulted me and then-FI openly, repeatedly told me that it wouldn''t work out between us and that she didn''t want to hear a word about the wedding. After a year of drama, we ended up having a HUGE fight, which ended in me begging her to let me go and live my own life and her sending me to hell. There was some more insulting and backstabbing before we finally reached a resolution (a few friends of hers actually had to knock some sense into her, it was getting ridiculous), and then she left for Australia for a year, coming back just a month before my wedding last August. She came back in a better emotional state than when she left, and had finally come to terms with my decision to marry. She was without a doubt the best MOH any bride could have, and wrote in our guestbook that she was devoted to being there for me always just like she was at my wedding, which touched me very much, and I''m glad that we''re on good terms again.

However, we are still not as close as we used to be, but I don''t feel like it''s really a bad thing. I love her and she''ll always be special in a way nobody else can be, but I''m married now and the most important person in my life is my husband. We used to tell each other everything, but I don''t anymore. I just feel that there are some things that should stay between DH and I. I also have to admit that while I have forgiven her for the things she has said and done, I don''t fully trust her with my secrets anymore.

She met someone in Australia (he''s currently visiting here) and she may be moving back to Australia indefinitely (I''m pretty sure he''s going to propose to her if she does). I''ll miss her, but we''re both getting lives of our own, and that''s a good thing. We were always encouraged to, and I''m glad we are.

I wrote more stuff on our relationship growing up and the engagement drama last year here but it''s not all that interesting (or maybe I just don''t want to go over it again, it was really ugly)! I guess the advice I would have for you is to really try to separate the life and family you will have with your FI and the relationship with your sister. She can still be your best friend, but she can''t be a part of your marriage. That''s kind of stating the obvious, but I understand how it''s like to have to go from the most important person in your life being your sister to your husband. It''s hard (although the drama helped it for me, I guess), but I feel it has to be done.

On an other note, my sister wrote this months before I became engaged (about 3 years ago) and all the drama started. I alway thought it was an interesting insight into our relationship.

On being a twin

I’m taking the opportunity to answer a question every three people out of four have asked me since I’ve been old enough to answer back: How is it like to be a twin?

Never given it much thought until very recently, actually. My automatic answer has always been that I don’t have any other reference to compare it with; I just don’t know anything else.

Pretty much the easy answer; no need to really think about it, no need to explain anything, no popping of anyone’s “omgtwinsaresocoolIwantatwintoo” bubble. Because you can still understand something that you’re not experiencing, so yeah, that’s a lame excuse.

Yes, being a twin can be considered a blessing. Your twin is your first love, your first friend, the one you’ve shared everything with, including your mother’s womb. There’s a strong emotional link.

But it’s not all happy and fluffy. It’s your first break-up, it’s not even having a face of your own when everyone says you look just the same, it’s people always mixing you up, it’s not only having to deal with your own feelings, but the feelings of your twin as well. And I’m sure you all agree that dealing with the feelings of one person is already more than enough. Being a twin, it’s also feeling responsible for the other (in my case, feeling like I need to take care of her), it’s also losing a part of yourself whenever something bad happens to the other.

Having a close relationship can always be a wonderful experience, but it’s always much more difficult.

I have to admit I'm surprised with your pictures, missjae! My sister and I were never the type to dress the same and all that. Our parents never dressed us the same when we were little and we never did it ourselves. I guess it helped us feel more like separate persons, which was always important for us because we never liked people confusing us. Having our own identities was always so important for us! Also, since we're mirror twins, we have different personalities and tastes in clothes, so that helps.
28.gif

Anyway, here's my favorite picture of both of us at my wedding. I love it so much! I was so happy, and she was (finally) so happy for me and to be there for me. That's what twins should be about!

We LOVED dressing alike...it was the best and would still love it if we did it now! :) It panics me to think of it any differently!

Me with my sister(missjae) and brother when we were younger. We are still all inseparable. We are only 15 months apart, and Jaden was a month overdue, Mom was a busy girl!

jadenjaxonjae.jpg

I have a fraternal twin brother. I guess they run in our family but my grandmother was adopted so we actually don''t know much about our lineage. I have lots of cousins, though, and there aren''t any twins from any of my aunts or uncles. Sometimes I think about how wonderful it would be to have twins myself, especially with my increased odds of my age and genetics. However, it''s really a scary idea. I think I would rather have time to adjust to having one!
Also, my relationship with my brother is trying! He''s my exact opposite and I think we drive each other crazy
19.gif
! Still, we have an undeniable bond. We can crack each other up like noone else can, sometimes by not even talking.

Our older brother is just 18 months older, so I hear you! Mom and dad were pretty busy too.

Yeah, the cracking up is definitely a twin thing! *giggle*

If anyone has anymore Twin pictures, be sure to post them!!! Any Mother''s of twins around?

What is your twinformation? (about you and your twin, your twin siblings/cousins/friends etc., your twin children etc...)

How long between births? My sister and I were 11 minutes

Delivered naturally or C-section? We were natural

Premature/On Time/Late? We were early by a month

Fraternal/Identical? We are identical (DNA tested)

Any extra twinformation? After baby A was born, Mom told the Doctor that if he wanted the next baby out he would have to get it himself! She was exhausted and eleven minutes is officially a long time according to her lol. Baby B was vacuumed out and had the ambilical cord around her neck.

How long between births? 10 minutes; I was first.

Delivered naturally or C-section? Naturally.

Premature/On Time/Late? Early by 10 weeks (my amniotic sac ruptured). I weighed 3 pounds 1 ounce and my sister 3 pounds 3 ounces.

Fraternal/Identical? Identical. We didn''t have a test, but it''s pretty obvious. One of the doctors said we weren''t because we each had our amniotic sacs, but that doesn''t mean we''re not identical, just that the egg split earlier on.

Any extra twinformation? We both had pneumothorax, but my sister''s was more severe. Fortunately, there was no lasting damage. I had hydrocephalus caused by hemorrage in the brain and had to go into surgery at 3 months. I have CP.

Fraternal twins? lol Heidi is in Pink - she is my identical twin sister''s(Jaxon) baby. Haven is in blue and she is my baby, yet they are sister''s....lol...
