Twisted spacer band

Mine is already pretty high but I would still be interested in looking at the one you mentioned. But i certainly have no idea how to even begin to find it

Didn't find it but look at the post above yours - I did copy a rather long post on this issue for you to read.

Not the poster I was thinking of but this thread was about someone else trying to find a solution to the same problem. Interesting conversation about this dilemma!

Thank you MissGotRocks. I will check this out. A problem clearly in need of a solution!

I can’t find the part where she’s saying that despite her custom design, the band is still eating into her solitaire. I wonder what she did to fix it?

She bought two channel set bands to wear with her ering or between the eternity band and ering. She said she sometimes wears the eternity band with the ering - but only every so often. There was no fix for the eternity band and ering although they tried. They eventually said she would have to have an eternity band with smaller diamonds. She didn’t want to do that.

That’s what I was thinking. Do I need to get smaller diamonds? This is so disappointing cause I really love the set as it is. Well thank you everyone for all your opinions and suggestions. I’ll have to keep searching for a solution.

Hello, for illustrative purposes only is this what milgrain looks like? Are these stones milgrain-set? And do those little “balls” at the top of the setting protect the diamond from rubbing against prongs? I realize what I’m about to ask next is a matter of opinion, and I know that ultimately what I like is the only thing that matters. But if you would give me your honest feedback about how this setting looks as an eternity band, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

And this one is described as bezel-set. I don’t think there’s any milk green. Does the setting also protect the diamonds from rubbing against my engagement, ring prongs? I don’t particularly like either of the settings. I really like IMG_0391.jpegwhat I have. But I’m simply asking your opinions as to whether either of these options eliminates the problem of scratching, and if so, which do you prefer in YOUR opinion? Thank you

Milgrain is the little balls around the diamonds. The stones aren't milgrain-set but rather have milgrain done around the diamonds. On this particular ring, it looks like the diamonds are set low enough that they wouldn't rub. The girdles of the diamonds need to be unexposed - the milgrain really doesn't have anything to do with it.

These bezel set diamonds would not rub because the girdles are not exposed.

Thank you. I cannot figure out how to change “milk green” to milgrain! Now, hopefully someone will let me know what they honestly think of either of these styles.

@MissGotRocks answered your question (look at her last two posts).

This photo is similar to what I imagine my set would look like if I had a bezel-set eternity band. From a real-life perspective, how visible Is the bezel around each stone? In this photo the bezel looks so thick. Is it less so in real life? Or is it in fact this thick? Thank you.

All bezels are not made the same and they can vary in thickness. Really depends on what you want and who you are working with for it. I still get the vibe that you really want the band you have. Is the thought of a spacer band so bad for you that you can’t consider it? Just asking before you go down a path you might not be happy with in the long run.

Hello MissGotRocks, yes, I want to keep what I have, and no, I just don’t like the spacer bands. I’ve gotten every width conceivable. I think I’m going to speak to a jeweler about putting sizing beads at 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock on the bottom of my engagement ring so that they will create a space between the engagement ring and eternity bands. And maybe instead of soldering my bands together I would put a couple of smaller-sized beads between them as well. Or solder a semi-circle 1- or 2-mm half band on the outer half of my ring (facing down) to create a gap, and solder the eternity bands. Sounds like one of these options might work. But thank you all for reading my never-ending posts. And if anybody thinks they have a solution, please let me know!

Dear MissGotRocks, coincidentally, I just found the attached photo in the left, and this is pretty much what I was talking about doing with my engagement ring, except the metal piece on the inside of this ring would be on the underside of my shank, so that when I put on my engagement ring, that piece of metal will be touching the eternity ring. And perhaps a little wider, like I mentioned previously, starting at 4 o’clock and ending at 8 o’clock, as crudely indicated on the photo on the right in blue. (My photo-editing skills are nonexistent.) I very much value your and anyone else’s opinion as to whether this might work to create a small gap between my engagement ring band and my eternity ring. I actually like the look of a little empty (“negative”?) space between the two rings anyway. As always, thank you.IMG_0393.jpeg

I have my doubts but I am not a jeweler. For the many who have had this issue, you would assume that if this was a fix, it would have been done before. If only at 4 and 8 o’clock, what would keep the front half of the ring from dropping down onto the eternity band? It is the diamond and prongs that you are trying to keep away from the girdles of the eternity band diamonds. The ering could then flop around unevenly so not sure about this. Let us know after speaking to your jeweler to see what he thinks.

Perhaps a Pricescope jeweler will weigh in? And I don't mean just having the band at 4 and 8; to clarify i mean FROM 4 o clock to 8 o clock. And I don't have a jeweler per se. There used to be a wonderful jeweler in my neighborhood, but he recently retired and there’s nobody else as knowledgeable as he is. So I would have to find somebody. Thanks to all, as always.

This is a problem that has frustrated and confounded many of us that want to wear bands with exposed diamond girdles with our e-rings. I don’t see how the sizing bar inside the bottom of the e-ring you posted will help other than to possibly raise it up a bit. Maybe enough that the prongs won’t be in contact with the eternity? You’ll still have the problem of the eternity chewing into the side of your solitaire. It’s just the reality of wearing these types of rings together.
The only sure way to avoid the damaging effects of this combination is to either wear a thin spacer band, or solder your rings together. I think any jeweler will tell you the same.

Pushing the bottom of the eternity band away from your ering (with the 4-8 bar) could very well tilt the top of the eternity band
closer to your ering (to do damage). Its not a good solution.

Excellent point @tyty333
Chelsea, my thin spacer band is barely visible.
Maybe it just comes down to which bothers you more,
Wearing a spacer band(s) or the damage to your rings without.
I hope you find a solution that works for you.

Such a beautiful combo!! Is your eternity band Tiffany? What is the total carat weight? She was talking about smaller diamonds but not necessary if she does the spacer.

Your engagement ring and eternity band are pretty much what I have. If you already told me this, I apologize, but what is the width (millimeters) of your spacer? And what metal is it made of? Thank you, Bonfire.

Thanks MGR. The eternity is by HOF, each stone is .06/.07
Total 1.4 ct. 2.6mm wide. It’s a little higher off the finger than I would prefer, but my 1mm spacer protects any sawing when I wear this combo.

It looks larger than that to me, but the perfect compliment to your gorgeous ACA diamond!

Thank you. I like pairing with my Tiffany Legecy band better.
@Chelsea Palmer, this is a bright cut/bead set type setting with metal rails so no exposed girdles and no spacer needed.

I agree with MissGotRocks that band is a lovely complement to your solitaire. And I appreciate everybody’s suggestions thus far. I just got my second eternity band and I’m loathe to reset them, especially because I love them just the way they are. I love the look of my eternity bands with my engagement ring. I guess I will have to get a spacer. And I will probably solder my eternity bands together.

I think it will still be a pretty look as I don’t think the spacer will negate the look at all.

I bit the bullet and put on the 1 mm silver band I purchased just to see how this would look. And it actually isn’t bad. The only problem is that the band itself is so incredibly thin that I’m not sure it’s high enough that the eternity band doesn’t still sometimes make contact with my engagement ring prongs. I know “high enough” it’s not a good description of what I’m trying to say. But all the folks who have been through this yourselves likely know what I’m trying to convey. I definitely will not be putting a spacer between my two 14-karat eternity bands because then it is just too much bulk. So those I will have to solder together, and I can’t wait to see how much this is going to cost me. Thank you all again.
