Ugh think I’ve been duped......diamond-heaven.co.U.K. GIE cert

Ring size K is US 5.25-5.5 :)

It does vary slightly between companies (even in the UK, the same size will fit sliiiightly differently depending the shop - but also the thickness and profile of the ring).

Thank you! LOL trust me.... I’ve tried several K size rings and been happy with the size, all a similar style. I’ll worry about sizing when I’ve narrowed my options down.

I shopped there before in Birmingham. Be aware the refund policy is only for online bought, rather than in store.

I originally advised on a GIE stone, then eventually an IGI stone. In the end, after some back and forth, I just managed to use my deposit to contribute towards the the bands and eternity ring, and I bought the stone from GIA.

I do not think they are scamming you, but GIE stones are definitely not that they seem.

Durham Rose are very good and sell CBI stones.

Thanks, it was online so I’m ok with returning thankfully. I still think it’s a scam as it’s blatantly dishonest and misleading. If I bought a diamond with no certificate fair enough, but GIE cert that says European comes from India is just wrong.

Glad you got a good stone in the end and didn’t lose out. I’ve not heard of CBI will have a look.

Sorry *bought a GIA stone from JA. I found their jewellery selection very good and I believe the owner has GIA exclusive stores.

GIE is a terrible report and they do advise to adjust for this by a couple grades online in their knowledge section. Whether the fact they do business with GIE reported stones makes them dishonest is a matter of perspective. Other than my hick up with them before I know of several happy customers and I did like the workmanship on their bench.

This is the sizer you get. I am a UK K1/2 and the US 5 1/2 is snug!

Thank you for the pic! I will definitely ask for one now that looks really good.

I should of showed the setting I originally chose, would this rule out BN or any others as I read some places are better with settings than others? It’s the setting I fell in love with but have seen similar at Whiteflash and also love their site, so much education!

I’m also liking Taylor & Hart‘s site and seeing if they can quote for a similar style.

Really glad I found this site as next on the list is a pendant which is originally what I wanted but couldn’t find anything with the right price and design.

@RoxyK I just wanted to comment real quick that you can end up being super off with those plastic tie ring sizers. I thought I was a size 5, but turns out I didn't cinch it tight enough. I was actually a size 3.75!

For a setting like that, I would go with Whiteflash / BGD / another well respected US vendor. Blue Nile settings are much more basic. (I have one and am happy with it, but it's a sturdy and functional diamond holder rather than an object of beauty!)

Thank you, I realised the setting might rule out some places when I saw JA doesn’t post side profile pics. I did ask but that’s all they had. I did look at BGD yesterday but there is very little choice in the size I’m looking at (0.75 ct approx). A shame as it’s easy to choose the side stones as well whereas a bit confusing with Whiteflash.

I take it asking a UK seller like Taylor & Hart to make something similar isn’t recommended?

I don't know Taylor and Hart. Certainly a good jeweller could make something similar, but you'd want to see their work and ideally get personal recommendations. I am in the North West and there are 2-3 jewellers in my area I would trust to do it, but I'm not familiar with your neck of the woods! Other posters might be though?

The only trouble is I've never found a good UK jeweller who can source GIA certified diamonds at a competitive price as compared to Blue Nile or the US vendors. So, you would probably want to source your own and then find someone who was willing to set outside stones.

You could take a look at Cooldiamonds.com. I have bought from them in the past, they have GIA and HRD stones available.
