I''ve admired under 1 ct stones/settings in this thread for a while... and now... I can finally contribute!
My girlfriend, having spent different parts of her life in So. America and Germany, does not have expectations for a large diamond. In fact, she has no expectations for a diamond at all, so I didn''t feel pressured to spend 1 or 2 months salary, or to get a 1+ ct stone. Instead I focused on quality!!

So, here is my 0.61 ct H SI1 H&A round brilliant in a size 6 (will be resized later) custom platinum 4-prong setting.

Here''s my mom''s ring that I took pictures of over the weekend. It''s a little under a half carat, and while the stats are long gone, our jeweler said she believes it''s probably in the G-H color range, well-cut, and VVS2-VS1 (yay!). Mom just had the setting rebuilt with a plat head and had the bands made into a single band in the back. When it was time to start looking at rings, I knew I wanted around a half ct because I''ve always loved my mom''s.

Your mom''s wedding set is lovely! I like the way the bands are set at an angle. Does anyone know where I could find a similar setting? There are more pics of this set on pages 32 & 33. Thanks for sharing.

My center stone is a 0.77 RB, F, VS1. (My total for the ring is 1.1 once you add all of tiny diamonds in the band.) My ring size is 7 (monster hands compared to some of you. LOL)
