Unheated Sapphire and Ruby Rings Collection!

they are all beautiful.

But my favorite of all you've shared has got to be the glorious yellow sapphire with old cut white sapphire surround!! just adore the open gallery and the happy joyful shade of warming sunny yellow is divine!!!

may you enjoy and wear it in the best of health and happiness, bringing you endless delight!

I love them all, but my favorite is the three stone with the diamonds. OMG, that color is perfect! That would be a once in a lifetime piece for me.

Hi all,
I’ve been a longtime member but haven’t posted much in the last few years. I’ve discovered my love for Unheated sapphires and rubies lately and wanted to share some of my finds. I’ll start with this first one and add to the thread over the next few days.

First up is a very special sapphire - 4.20 carat unheated lavenderish with very rare opalescence (shows some pink flashes too in certain lights). AGL was excited to see this stone as it appears opalescence in sapphire is pretty rare.I found this sapphire in an Edwardian stick pin, so its from the early 1900s, and sent it to Inken at Enhoerning Jewelry to get certified at AGL. Once we knew it was Unheated, she created a custom setting for it based on an antique Georgian design. Rose cut diamond halo in oxidized silver on a gold intricate shank. The result is such a cool and unique ring. I’m curious if anyone here has ever seen or heard of an opalescent sapphire before?

OH MY GOD MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT. Please may I be at the very top of the waiting list should you ever decide to part with this beauty?

I have 2 cushions, one a little larger than the other and set in a LOGR legacy setting and the other and this oval, all from Aussiesapphires and cut by MichaelE

Beautiful!

And my little collection of unheated Ceylon pads (some more pad-like than others). These are just waiting to be transformed into a pair of cluster earrings set in rose gold with tiny diamonds and a ring with a graduated halo. 22163A15-D0F4-424C-8BFE-7F200B0FB985.jpegBD50AD9C-E487-4532-A87D-ACD1F3DC8692.jpegAB99B469-5CC3-48F2-A4E8-6AFDC9A1386B.jpeg

I love the skulls on the side.

Did AGL give a name to the color of the opalescent sapphire? Seems odd that it would be left off the certificate when "opalescent" is not a color, and an opalescent sapphire seemingly could come in a variety of colors.

I posted the AGL cert earlier in the thread - under color they said see comments and the comments say it’s an opalescent sapphire. probably because the color is purplish/pink depending on the light, and has a very distinctive silky look to it which doesn’t fit into a certain color. Other than that you would have to ask AGL!

That cushion pad is out of this world!

I've never seen the term opalescent used when describing stones like that, to me, that would imply flash, not just the silky /milky look.

I like silky/milky stones when they are nice like that one, usually people in the trade just refer to them as silky/milky. It's definitely a 'classic unheated look'

Forgot to post this one, and it’s the most epic unheated sapphire of all! Moira: an Antique Georgian certified Unheated blue sapphire ring. She hails from the Georgian era, with a certified Unheated Huge Ceylon blue sapphire that’s pretty much eye clean and a striking blue color that holds its own even without light, 12 luscious huge old mine cut diamonds (open culets anyone), 20 carat gold and silver and the cut down collets that make me happy. And those shoulders!! 328AC27F-363A-42CF-B080-53F2C2606980.jpeg5917C64F-2717-4465-8237-10233EB92A20.jpegA0A4C5AD-BBB4-46B3-891A-E7653A58ED73.jpeg58D04811-6067-4635-A890-7C12E7275FA8.jpegA976DAB9-69E1-4E6A-BE9B-016C1E567A3C.jpegEBC99DB0-B129-4A99-94A1-AE392B697ABB.jpeg

As someone for whom rhodium plating is like fingernails on a chalkboard, I think your mixing of high-carat yellow gold and sterling is brilliant! And at similar purities—as far as my math-bereft brain can figure, that’s 82.0 (ish) gold (someone who didn’t get C’s in math can “check my work” with 92.5 silver. Just gorgeous!!

@Sparklemore ,I am late to the game but this sapphire is hypnotizing! What a beauty! I have never seen anything like it! I love the setting too! Just wow!
