I''m hoping I can get some help from some of the experts here. On one of my husband''s Japan trips he found a very unusual necklace. It has two large pearls strung with multi colored stones or beads. One of the large pearls is on the same strand with the beads, the other is on a chain which hangs off of the beads. The bead colors are dk pink, lt pink, sort of a teal color, dk green, lt green, and a whitish, clear stone. I''m pretty sure some of the green stones are jade but I''m not sure what the others are. Does jade come in different colors? Can anyone identify what these stones or beads might be? Thanks for any help!

Catmom,
What a beautiful necklace!! I''m no expert, but do know that Jade comes in many different colors besides green. Pink, lavendar, blue, yellow and I think orange. Hopefully the real experts will chime in and help you out!! ENJOY!!

it appears i can see the strand through the blue and pink stones...i''m not sure that jade can be that clear but then i''m not an expert. i do know, however, that jade comes in many different lovely colors.

what an interesting piece of jewelry!

I just love that necklace!!!

Do you think they could be tourmaline beads? Whatever...they''re wonderful!

How pretty! I love any jewelry that is just a bit unusual -- not something you''ll see on anyone else.

Most of the Jade that I have seen is opaque. These beads are more transluscent. Wonder what they are?? Widget may be on the money with Tourmalines??

Good eye, as usual, Widget. This beautiful strand is almost certainly made of very attractive tourmaline baroque beads. While jade occurs in many colors, so does tourmaline. I''ve worked with lots of tourmaline and its "look" and colors are quite distinctive.

Thank you everyone for your help and kind words. I''m so happy to finally know what these stones are and now I''m off to research tourmalines!

It is a very unusual necklace! When my husband first brought it home I wasn''t quite sure about it but it has grown on me and now I love it. Of course now I need earrings and a bracelet to match!

I have another unusual set made with stones I can''t identify which I will have to post. Maybe Widget and Richard M. can help me with this one, too! I''ll have to see if I can get a good picture.

Thanks, again!
