Update...delays....

So I have good news and bad news....

The good news is....we put the first deposit down on the diamond!! I am soooo excited, she''s a beauty!

I am doing a custom setting, which will take about 3 weeks to do, and when it''s done he has to give the final payment when he picks it up. The bad news is....I was all geared up to be engaged in the next month. However, we are selling our house and upgrading to a new house, and are supposed to close 2/15. Well some home inspection BS came up, so we have some things to pay for that are a little $$. So unfortunately, we have to take care of that first....which will delay the payment on the ring (he''s paying cash, not financing..which is why the payment is due when we pick it up) Now we''re looking at about 2-3 months.

Its so funny, because as many of you know I have been with my SO for 8.5 years (since we were 16), so I keep trying to tell myself that if I waited this long, what''s 2 more months??? lol But its like the opposite, for 8.5 years I was stressing about WHEN it was coming. Now that I know it is, its even HARDER (i thought it would be easier, haha). Its going to be the longest 2 months of my life i think! Lol. I know I cant complain though, at least i know its happening, and Im not back where I was thinking it was years away.

My best advice: Enjoy moving into your new home--let it preoccupy your mind (instead of obsessing about the ring) for the time being. That way the time will fly, and before you know it, you''ll be engaged to your future FI.

Well congratulations on the new house! That is very exciting.

I think this time will fly by for you rather quickly. Me and my SO have been together 10.5 years. (Both 16 going on 17 when we met too) Time keeps flying by....whats a few more months? I bet I blink and come back to this site and see that you are engaged!!! Just hold tight a little longer.......

I feel ya! We are actually already engaged and I still don''t have the ring! We''re paying cash as well and so it''s taking longer than I originally thought. I have a little "placeholder" ring, but not having the real one is driving me NUTS! Hang in there, focus on the house and hopefully the time will fly by!
