Any chance you could find a picture of Cathy Riva''s ring? She is an event planner with her own show on Discovery Home Channel. She has what seems to be about a 3ct round in antique setting and a diamond and sapphire trio on her right hand that is just to die for!

Not quite a celebrity these days but check out the diamond engagement ring of the late Iranian Princess Soraya. The ring, which was given to the princess by the Shah of Iran in 1950, comprises of a 22.37 carat EC.

WOWZA. That is the granddaddy of my emerald cut. Who got it when the Princess died? A daughter, I hope...or her son''s wife if she had a son...

Soraya Esfandiary who was the second wife of the late Shah of Iran, married the Shah in 1951 but he divorced her seven years later after she failed to produce an heir to the throne.

When she died, her jewellery and other personal effects were auctioned off, raking in 6.58 million euros (6.14 million dollars), more than twice the expected amount. The ring that I'd posted earlier was apparently a Harry Winston platinum ring with a 22.37-carat diamond, which went for 900,000 euros.

She was a beautiful woman. Here is a picture of her.

She looks like someone famous from the states, a mix of Ava Gardner and someone else...that is so sad that he left her after she did not conceive. I know an heir is important in those royal families, but did he not have children from the first wife? I have a good sized emerald cut, set similarly, but that one is magnificent. Seems she did not have a great life, even being a princess.
 
He was married 3 times but since he was Muslim, I guess he could have had 4 wives at the same time but didn''t for whatever reason. The Shah married for a 3rd time and had 4 children with his 3rd wife. He was eventually exiled from Iran and didn''t have a very good life in the end either.

Princess Sora had a long of bling but I think we''re much luckier with our lives and families.
 
I grew up in Beverly Hills and was there when the Shah fell. I think it was the late 70''s. Overnight there were many Iranians in my school and prior to this there had only been a handful. They would come into town and try to buy homes by knocking on doors and offering the startled people, who were not selling their home, CASH to move and move fast. They did not want to pay market value. It was a crazy time because a lot of people had to flee the country very suddenly. Must have been a scary time.


I have a lot of nice things, but I am more happy to have my home and family, and not deal with that craziness...

What school''s in B.H. did you attend? and in which years?

I grew up in BH too.
 
El Rodeo for elementary school (started there in December 1971, I was a late birthday and missed the cutoff for starting kindergarten so I was almost 6 when I started, I am turning 41 next month). I left before 6th grade started to go to private school on Mulholldand Drive, was there for 6th and 7th, skipped 8th grade and went into B.H.H.S. in 9th grade and graduated in 1983. (I would have been class of 1984 otherwise). What about you?

Well, believe it or not, i graduated BHHS in 83 too.
But attented Hawthorne... as elementary.

I just fell in love with the ROCKRAS sapphire and diamond ring...I hope my BF isn''t set on getting me a diamond...although I would adore a 2 carat EC with tapered baguettes if he was going that route :)
