Hi everyone,

As you can tell, I''m still fairly new to this thing. Anyway, to make a long story short, I was in Tiffany & Co. this weekend and saw a 1.53 H VVS1 round cut stone in the classic Tiffany setting. The ring was priced at $24,800.

Just playing around on bluenile (just as an example, I''m sure I could have looked a zillion other places), I can get:

H VVS1 1.52 ex/vg GIA cert, Ideal cut for $13,487; or
H VVS1 1.50 id/id AGSL cert "signature ideal" cut for $14,249

I can then add a ring to a platinum classic Tiffany style setting for another $450.

My question is, it appears like I can build a virtually idential ring online, but for $10,000 less (and it won''t have "Tiffany & Co." engraved in the band). Am I missing something? I''m not trying to stir up trouble, and I''m sorry if this question has been asked before. But I am genuinely and sincerely curious.

Thanks,

UDM

Nope, you''re not missing anything. (Although a nice platinum tiffany repro will be more than $450)
That''s the problem with Brick and Mortars - their overhead costs you a lot!
All those fancy glossy ads have to be paid for somehow!

My ring cost $11,500 - GOG and Leon M
Had we purchased it at a BM it have cost around $18,000 - 21,000...
...and if my setting were a Daniel K, the setting alone would have been 10K. Ouch!

Scintillating...
