Thanks, Kismet. I felt as though the setting was just made for this sapphire, and the details are really incredible. Having seen the actual size of the tiny saws that are used in the piercing, the skill used in creating these settings is mind-boggling to me.

Yes, graduate school slowed down the getting married part of our relationship. At this point, we really have to stop and calculate our anniversaries, because we tend to put more emphasis on the number of years we've been together rather than the number of years we've been "official." Congratulations on your years together, too, it's nice to know I'm not the only long-timer .

We do have two daughters, and I was quite amused at our older daughter, who had turned up her nose a bit at the L color of the AVC, but was quick to put in a first-dibs on the finished ring--and the sapphire. snort I'll leave the two of them to fight it out, since I'm planning on being around for a while to enjoy my jewelry.
