Just a quick question. Will their be a visible difference in normal viewing conditions (once mounted) between a diamond with excellent polish vs. good/very good polish ? I am looking for a 3-4 carat size stone.

Also, does it make a significant difference to the price ?

Thanks

Usually polish of good and above will look the same to the untrained eye. I don''t think that an excellent grade of polish in itself will make a significant difference to the price, rather all the details together of the finish and craftmanship of the finished diamond.

Without a loupe there will be no visible difference. Even with a loupe it will be practically impossible to spot by an untrained person.

as the lovely miss lorelei mentioned, you won''t be able to see the differences with the naked eye but they are a result of the overall craftmanship of the diamond.

I have a 4.10 round that has good polish and very good symmetry. I am sure that no one except a jeweler could tell the difference. I found that the cost was higher in a stone with excellent polish and symmetry as opposed to good or very good especially in a large stone.
Just make certain that you get a well proportioned stone and you should be happy with it if the polish is good or very good. You probably would never know the difference unless you were told.
