Visual difference between a 1.6 and a 2mm band

I am in the market for a pink sapphire band to stack with my engagement ring and wedding band. I have found a couple of options, including one on Blue Nile which is 2mm thick. The other one I have found through another retailer is roughly 60% of the price of the BN band but is only 1.6mm wide. Both are 18ct rose gold.

I am wondering if I am really going to notice a huge difference in the thickness of the bands? Does anyone have bands of those two thicknesses that they could photograph together so I could see?

Hi misskittycat (I always smile when I type your name out lol),
I don't have any pics but I will say there is a big visual difference b/w 1.6 and 2 mm IMO. My ER band is 1.9 mm wide and so are my 2 wedding bands and when I tried different widths next to my ER the only widths that looked *right* to me were the bands that were 1.9 mm. That's not to say that different widths wouldn't look good but for me these looked perfect. So if you are considering different widths the best thing you can do is get to a jewelry store to try different bands on and get a feel of what looks best to you. Also take into account the height of each band because that makes a visual difference too.

Thanks Missy and marymm!! That thread is a great reference point!

At the moment I wear a matching wedding band and a non matching bezel eternity with my engagement ring. I would say my e-ring and wedder are probably 1.8mm. The bezel eternity is alternating so between 1.5 and 2.5mm perhaps? So matchy matchy isn't really the prime objective. The BN ring has lighter pink sapphires whereas the other thinner ring has more vibrant sapphires which is something else to take into consideration. So even though the thinner ring is thinner, it might be more visible...

I might take myself off to Tiffany and try on the Metro and Novo rings for some inspiration. The general consensus is that the Metro is 1.5mm and the novo is closer to 2mm. They both come in rose gold so that would be a reasonable starting point!!
