Want to propose soon need a diamond fast!

Alright how do you know if its well cut then?

You do not, which is why you need images and ASET image.

does finding a diamond that is 62-68% Table %, 64-75% depth % help assure it will sparkle? I've been searching for those diamonds then asking for a ASET photo good idea/ or no?

No because performance is based on the placement and angles of the individual facets, table and depth alone does not fix these facets other than the table facet. Just check out some JA stones with the same table and depth and you can see the images varies wildly in brightness and beauty.

ASET images will tell you if a princess cut diamond is cut well or not. So pretty much you are left with buying an AGS0 stone... but it's more expensive... or go with a GIA stone that has supplied ASET images that way you can see cut and brillance.

called Whiteflash guy told me they would charge me $44 for the ASET photo if it was nice and I didn't want it.. haha this whole thing is a lot of work. B2CJewels said they'd check w/ the Vendor to see if they could get me ASET photos. seems like these photos are hard to get a hold of

not all vendors have ASET so that is why we generally recommend the vendors that do

Yea, not every vendor provides ASET and the ones that dont have them posted, but CAN get them for you charge for it. Your best best is to go with a vendor that provides them on the link to the diamond, and to use that image with a GIA certificate or buy AGS0.

what do you mean by on a link?

and what vendors do you know that do this

By far my favorite!!! Its a signature stone so it has a lifetime upgrade (if you should ever wish to). The smaller table is just lovely!

LOVE this choice! Plus if you decide t upgrade down the line GOG has a great upgrade policy!

not suggesting this stone as It's not in your budget... but wanted to show you what I mean.

Whiteflash for instance will show ASET images for their whiteflash ACA collection. the ASET is the red/green image. The link I was referring to is the link to the stone... other vendors that will supply images of signature/ideal cuts: good old gold, whiteflash...

good old gold seems limited in your budget... the only stone close to your budget and carat requirements is the one posted by TYTY.

this whiteflash stone seems promising-

I've been reading tons of sites and it just leads me confused and unsure what to buy my girlfriend, I do the pricescope search but unsure about things
Criteria:
*Budget: Up to $3,500
*Carat size: at least .81 carat
*Color: D-H
*Clarity: SI1-flawless
Cut: Want it to sparkle, but I realize this adds a lot to cost.
***Tell me if one of my criteria is dumb I know you guys are experts and know more than me.
Please help I want my gf to have the most beautiful diamond possible

Your criteria isn't dumb! It's just that for .81 ct princess that is ideal/excellent cut... with a H or higher color will be hard to find... *IF* you want to keep the stone to under 3,000, and buy an AGS0 stone.

You may be able to find a GIA stone meeting these requirements, BUT you will have to pay and wait for ASET images to make sure the cut is such that will make it really sparkle and come to life.

still no luck :( how often do stores get new diamonds hoping to get more AGS if possible hehe

Just call the vendors and ask. Sometimes they have something in the pipeline that meet your requirement and they can give you a rough guess of the timeline for the stone's arrival.

Any new suggestions? Wish GOG had more diamonds

you're right that thing is gorgeous.. no not in my price rang
not much selection for ags rings bummer

I'm waiting on a lot of those James Allen ASET photos yay for waiting!

Finally got an ASET what do you think of this? Doesn't look great but I don't know anything about ASETS i guess

can someone analaysis the ASET photo please

Honestly, I think it doesnt look to bad comparing to what they are saying is Excellent for a princess ASET. Take a look for yourself
and see what you think.

Can you give us the link to the original stone so we can see some regular pics?

Looks quite good.

I'd ask about the very thin girdle, if the location might be a concern. In any case, get insurance for the ring, since princess cut diamonds are more liable to chip than rounds. After you purchase insurance, you don't need to worry about the ring and can just enjoy it.

As many people have mentioned, princesses simply can't be evaluated based on numbers. There's too much variability in how they're cut. You need at the very least a detailed photo. An ASET image is very helpful but note that many online vendors don't offer them. I would not buy a princess-cut diamond without first seeing an ASET and photo. That's my personal preference, and not everyone shares that preference. But you'll find that most of us on PS are cut nuts, and with good reason...an ideal cut can hide inclusions, mask lower color, and make the diamond appear larger due to edge-to-edge light return.

The ASET you posted is really good! The pic looks great too. Don't worry that James Allen calls the cut "premium" instead of "ideal" - the vendor descriptions of cut don't always correlate with what AGS would grade the cut as. Be sure to protect the corners in the setting (a bezel or V-shaped prongs would be good). Otherwise looks very nice.

Actually I think that ASET looks pretty good given that this is not a branded AGS0. I think this is a great choice and you are saving by being under the 1 carat mark. I think very thin girdle is OK, but extremely thin would be worrisome. Perhaps ask JA about this if you are concerned?
