My scammer's address and tel no are as follows:

4143 Welwyn st.
Vancouver, BC, V5N3Z1
Canada.

Tel: (778) 988-4000

His first name is Kelvin, I'm sure fake!

He emailed me again! I'm thinking of closing my DB a/c cos I'm tired of receiving emails from this scumbag!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - Kelvin is still at it... just contacted me about a DB listing - I went so far as to give my PayPal address but his flurry of emails prompted me to check this specific PS thread and discovered to my chagrin Kelvin is a scammer. I immediately emailed him that, as my stated shipping method (USPS First Class mail) does not ship internationally I would not be making the sale to him. I'll keep an eye on my PayPal account but hopefully I caught it in time... Should I take any further steps or be worried about anything else??

couldn't edit my above post (?) but wanted to clarify -- while USPS First Class does ship Internationally, my stated shipping method includes full insurance and delivery confirmation, additional services which USPS First Class International does not offer.

I just got an email from him too. However he stated that if I didn't want to ship to Canada then I could ship to Washington state. Regardless I didn't read this thread so he does have my paypal address. I just wrote him back and said the item is no longer for sale. I hope this doesn't bite me in the end.

OMG! I can't believe this AH is still trying to scam people. But I guess that's what scammers do! :angryfire:

I don't know much about PayPal since I am a relative PP newbie, but can you notify them beforehand to watch out for suspicious activities and/ or maybe delete (preferably) or change the CC or bank a/c no which is linked to your PP account?

Sorry to hear he's trying to scam you too. Please see my comment above.

Yes...he also tried to scam me but wanted me to ship to France..I just wrote "him" back and said I do not ship overseas..sorry
I never heard from him again

I do want to add that I am noticing an increase in strange emails from "buyers" and is why I added the phrase I screen buyers

I didn't want to offend anyone but I don't want to send my things off ...only to be scammed

I also had a nut case buyer that apparently buys things from the bistro then returns them due to buyers remorse. She has done this to other people and vendors so be very careful these days

What exactly is DB?

Just an FYI that a Thomas (I think the last name was Moore) is contacting people from LT and asking us to ship out the item as he will pay for a check etc. I know many won't fall for his tricks but if you see an email from a Thomas just delete!

Just an FYI, I received several messages that sounded suspicious from a man named "Eduard." He said he had questions about my item, asked for my phone number, asked me if I had a skype acct, and asked if I spoke "Italy." I chose not to respond at all. Just be cautious ladies and gents!!

I've been hit up by 2 male buyers recently that seemed pushy and a little odd, thanks for the heads up.

what type of payment do you accept from a buyer? seems paypal is too risky?
Thanks

PayPal is the safest payment to take! Although I will also take a USPS money order from someone if they don't use PayPal. But those are the only two forms of payment I'd be comfortable with taking. Good luck with your sale!

Well, it seems to me that all we can do is listen to our gut feelings about people; there are many telltale signs in these enquiries, however, it also appears to me that scammers are getting more educated and asking questions instead of just being ready and willing to buy which type of scam has been around in many other trades as well for a long time now. Indeed this is extremely scary though, typos in their emails are one sure sign but they can become smarter and smarter and it does seem that paypal is no longer safe. Honestly that was why as I have stated we closed our ebay account, it was never for selling items commercially but we did sell a few clothing items etc. privately and the same thing happened to us, there you cannot even screen buyers when they are only bidding and in our case two designer ties were sent and delivered and in both cases buyers demanded payment back via paypal which they received, charges were reversed and we ended up with no money or items and ebay has actually upheld their original decision and denied us an appeal, so I will never sell anything on ebay anymore and have also filed a complaint about them with BBB but despite that it appears that paypay is not a safe option period because they CAN reverse charges which makes me extremely cautious since in the case of gems and jewelry we are not talking about a tie that is a couple hundred dollars (albeit it made us very upset) but here we may be talking about items that are worth in the tens of thousands in cases. Accepting credit cards seems to be the safest option even if not as inexpensive but unfortunately to many private individuals this is not an option but who wants to send away a ten thousand dollar ring or whatever and not be 100% sure to ever see it or their money again?

I believe my husband has paid for some vintage cars using USPS money orders. The idea being the money is secure and any fraud would be a felony....I probably would consign an expensive piece to avoid the risk, but I know that involves a % cost.
