im wondering if some trained eyes can help me. i found a watermelon tourmaline slice pair on ebay and they seem really nice to me ...

can someone tell me if the pics are nice, esp if they are too nice?
do you think any treatment could have been done to these (seller claims no treatment)
also, what is the market for watermelon tourmaline slices? ive not been able to spot many using google...

thanks!

I have seen earrings made out of these. I don't think they should be too expensive. What do you want to do with them?

I don't know enough to say if they might have been treated or not. They are pretty, though.

I do not think they are that rare.

They're not rare unfortunately but they are very pretty and the ones you have are a good example. Don't pay too much though because typically they're not expensive.

Looking at those makes me feel hungry. I haven't seen too many of these myself but they are generally very inexpensive.

To give you an indication I have one slice that's just under 2ct and I paid $11 for it.

thanks a lot. i ended up taking a plunge but with another listing, not the ones in the pic. paid 25 bucks for a pair 16 carat total weight. the quality of those seems to be as good as these...

i dont plan to use them for anything as such, just collect them because they seem to be a beautiful occurrence in nature.

thanks for the help everyone.

Hi Vanterminator,

If you buy them, can you please post your opinion of them? I think I saw them on the ebay, too. I'd like to know if the vendor is good.

hi crasru,
i have bought a few items from this vendor, i have yet to receive anything though (i agreed to the cheap yet free shipping method and i think there a few days left before i should even expect to receive the items)...so it might be a few weeks before I can post an opinion. but when I do have something to report, i shall do so.

I've just found these on Ebay and I would urge caution with this Vendor. The Tourmalines you've posted are listed twice under different carat sizes. I think he's using stock photos to sell goods that won't look like the pictures. I've found more instances of where he's done it so it's not a one off mistake. :nono:

thanks for the headsup lovingdiamond. im not planning to bid anymore on stuff from this vendor for now...
