We bought a diamond...

It's going to be so hard to wait! Maybe you'll get lucky and will be on the low end of the time for setting. You're closer now than you were before the recut, though.

Even though you were disappointed to miss that pretty little wedding set, I think you'll love this one even more. It's a beautiful diamond.

Thanks WD! I think so!! :)

Just checked the tracking information...it arrived in Michigan this morning! Unfortunately Pearlmans isn't open today so they won't get it until Monday :(

It looks wonderful! Such a happy ending.

Thanks Dreamer! I'm sooo excited to get it completed! And RELIEVED that I know the girdle will be strong enough to handle it.

You found a great diamond for a phenomenal price and that always makes it sweeter, at least for me!

I have one suggestion before you have the diamond set, though it may be too late. Consider having Pearlman's send the loose stone to EGL-USA for grading prior to setting the stone. I would not normally suggest EGL, but they are standard for old cuts and GIA takes a really long time. AGS is another option and they are faster. A lab report will be useful for you for insurance purposes, firmly establishing the kind and quality of your stone. If you do not opt for a lab report, then have Pearlman's help you obtain a really in depth and high quality appraisal when the stone is loose! That would only take a few days plus transit time, or they can perhaps do it in house. That kind of documentation is much easier to get when the stone is loose -- especially color and weight and proportions with a sarin scan. Then you can include than information in your insurance and feel assured that if the worst ever happens, you will be able to get a similar stone as a replacement.

Pearlmans will be getting the stone on Monday. I can email and see what the options are.

Thanks pandabee! Andrew and I talked last night and (coming from the other thread beesha77 started about waiting with it IN the house...) I told him he had to start brainstorming places to hide it so that I didn't try it on incessantly. In 5 minutes he came up with a handful of ideas and said we were good. Lol. It's probably good....I'd probably scratch the metal before even getting proposed to!

Just got an email from John at Pearlmans. The stone is on it's way to Sholdt and estimated turn around is 4 weeks!! Eeeee!!!! :appl:

I'm so excited about your Sholdt! I've got Sholdt-esque (*ahem* replica *ahem*) ring in silver with a colored stone and I love it.

Thanks maebelle! I'm really excited too.

Care to share pictures of your *ahem* replica? :) I'd love to see it! Feel free to post in this thread of if you like :)

We also decided to have them imbed a small 2mm ruby inside the shank of our Sholdt to commemorate our anniversary month of July. We also plan to get married in the month of July so the ruby will have long term meaning for us. We hope it comes out well!

sphene.jpgil_570xN.202380472.jpg

It's a yellow sphene set by Daniel M on etsy, I can't wear it often, or if I'm doing ANYTHING with my hands, since sphene is so soft, but I love it. It throws off giant sparks of red and green in the sun.

And I love the idea of secret stones on the inside of bands. I'm sure it'll turn out beautifully!

It's beautiful maebelle! It reminds me of this Sholdt setting here:

And thanks! John at Pearlmans gifted us the ruby which was very sweet of him.

That is the exact setting that this is a replica of! :)

The surprise ruby is so cute! Where are you going to be placing it on the setting?

It'll be a secret surprise ruby embedded on the inside of the shank. You won't be able to see it unless I show you :)

I hope I don't find it while cleaning or something! I'd have to ask him to re-hide it, haha.

It was SOOO nice of him. We talked to him about the idea and he hadn't had someone do it before so he thought it was cute and confirmed that Sholdt would do it. I then I asked him how we should go about sourcing a small 2mm ruby and he said he had one that he'd like to gift us!! I'd love to have another set into his! It just depends on the band he chooses. We have been thinking about what to engrave in each others wedding bands so we'll at least have that.
