Pretty stone, but to be honest....way too small. It would have to be in a halo to look right and you already have one on your round. I honestly would wait and get a larger one, probably 2 cts at least in an EC. You have beautiful long fingers and can handle a much larger stone than that. And this is coming from a person that is not a size *****. ;))

Be still my heart  !!!!&

last one...

You are fortunate to be blessed with long slender fingers. I am stuck with short stubby ones. Size-wise, I think it is fine as anything can be compensated by the right setting. I know you'll be occupied all weekend playing with it under various lighting conditions.

DS,
Do you mean aim for a specific mm measurement, rather than a 2 ct stone? My slightly over 1 ct EC faces up as large as most 1.3 ct ECs due to the more normal depth (under 63%).

DS.. thanks I always love to hear what you think...

Chrono..thank you so much.. you have been a huge help..

So I am thinking of setting.. anything I get this setting..

http://www.diamondsbylauren.com/index.php/jewelry/loose-diamond-121ct-gsi2-emerald-cut-gia-let-us-lend-you-an-eye-four-step-top-r3185

Do you think in a setting it will appear larger..

Hubby...says to buy what I want.. and I don't have to sell the Trannie.. and then if I want to sell it later and upgrade I can do that.. So right now I have a hall pass to play(where's the icon of dancing like I made a touchdown..?).... but my hall pass will not buy anything much larger than this unless I sell some stuff.....

I will try and take some pictures of it just laying on my hand...but I'm afraid by myself outside to not have it in the holder.. Lord if I dropped it in the grass it would be gone forever.. our grass is super thick and deep! :errrr:

Second choice setting.. Not my husband's favorite...

EC are hard because they face up so small. I think because your other diamonds are larger DSS might set in quickly for you on this one. I personally really like the cut of this diamond, but probably wouldn't purchase it. Though I do LOVE the setting you picky out. Very classic of Jackie O's ring!

I think you could go a wee bit bigger, it is a beautiful stone though!

With your elongated fingers, unless you halo it, the only way to get extra real estate N/S wise is a halo and you probably don't want that since your RB is already halo-ed. Basically, all you can do is make it fatter with side stones. If this isn't cutting it for you, then you'll have to keep looking for something more elongated, something not as deep, or something with a lot more carat weight.

Unless it were set in a 5 stone (maybe with traps/bullets like this Leon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vPT82se3wc  ) or a halo, I think shrinkage would quickly set in unfortunately. It is a pretty stone though!

Cut = amazeballs.

But I would rather have one frigging awesome honker than two rings, neither of which is scratching my itches. So I would returnf this one, sell the tranny, and then get the biggest one you can.

it is a beautiful stone no doubt Mayk, but I'd have to agree with those that say go bigger, & I adore the setting you like the best as well!!

You have AMAZING hands and lovely fingers!! I'm so jealous!! but... I think that 5ct in Palm Beach spoiled you for a much larger EC. I think you may be hesitating because of the size? If it were a half or even a full carat larger would you be questioning it as much? If everything was sold and you had $$$$ amount of money, would this particular EC be *the* diamond of choice?

Just food for thought... it sure does look GORGEOUS!

stunning stone.....double bezel it.

I adore the classic HW setting with side baguettes! But even for me, about the most size sensitive person here, I would not want an EC e-ring (with that setting) in less than 2 cts. I would LOVE to have one, but I'd work on one great ring at a time as opposed to having a lot of smaller diamond e-rings. If I had the money, I'd have a round, antique cushion, and EC, but I won't do them unless I can get to my optimal size. And for EC and cushion, it has to be over 2 cts. for me. I am sure I will not have 3 e-rings, but I'd rather have one GREAT one than those three that were too small. As you can see, I am still working on the one great one!

I haven't commented but have been reading your threads Mayk, and I think this stone is gorgeous - in fact, I like it even more after seeing your pics! But, as much as it pains me to say this I think it might be a little too small - I think DSS will set in for you rather quickly. In your first post you mentioned you wanted the stone to be at least 8mm, and this one is 7.56 I believe.

Now, that said, it sounds like you really love the stone, so maybe you're ok with it being a little smaller than you first intended, and maybe you like the idea of being able to keep your OEC and still have an emerald cut stone. How are you feeling about the size of the diamond, now that you've had a chance to see it up close and personal for a while?

Idk, I can't decide on the size, I think that it may be too small for you, but I wish that it was sent with a placeholder setting instead of the tweazer. I think it's always so much harder to visualize that way. It's a gorgeous stone for sure, but I tend to agree with the others...if your heart is/was set on something larger, than I'd be worried that you would never be completely satisfied with this stone.

Agree.

DH just got home...

"honey.. it's TINY"... ;( Note to self.. never, ever try on 5-7cts with your DH... I think he thought it would be about that size.. :nono:

Poor man...

I so love it.. it's just so beautiful and it's perfect in every way except.. it's too small for my hand.. I'm thinking the search will go on....'
This diamond will be perfect, perfect, perfect for the right person.. it's so freaking beautiful and I'll get some more pictures this weekend and maybe is will change my mind.. but... right now.. DH didn't help things with his astute observation  .

Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner....I agree with Dreamer. I think you won't be satisfied with this stone because of it's size at the end of the day.

Sure is a beauty though....

I guess you could keep it as a pendant and get a 2.5 ct one for the ring. :naughty:

I love your husband! You have trained him well!

(Oh, and I am sure you realize that you can have a culet facet cut on any EC you buy if that is what you really love about it.)

Have you thought of doing:

1) something a bit like Angelina Jolie's ring from Brad Pitt (ie: step cuts/baguettes on the sides getting smaller and smaller). There are pics all over the internet if you haven't seen it before. Due to your stone being smaller than hers it might look a little different and perhaps a bit chunkier...
2) a split shank with stones in the shank?
3) a shank where the setting is on either side N/S of the stone, winding around.
4) setting it sideways (E/W) in a thicker band?

Just throwing some ideas out there that aren't like your RB halo ring. (PS - definitely celebrate those long fingers of yours, they are glorious! :D )

I think that in any event a thicker shank or bezelling could get you where you want if you put some time into drawing it up with a jeweller.

I just wanted to ask - is there strong fluorescence in the stone? I see a little whiteness in it in one or two of the photos. It could just be the way it's tilted to the camera, but if it's a strong Fluor stone I would consider a re-think as it's showing up to me.

All the best!

In all honesty, my first thought was that it was too small for your hand. It would certainly appear larger when set but still. . . I'm with DS - I'd rather have one honkin' great ring than several smaller ones. Some folks like to be able to change up their erings and if that's the case, they can't all be huge because of cost (at least generally speaking!)

Time to do some soul searching me thinks on what it is that you really want - like if you were to start all over again with no ring. What is it that you'd REALLY like to have?

I'm thinking --- if DH says its small... its just not the right stone for you. You can't force love, know what I mean?? Its either the perfect stone the moment you take it out of the box and view it on your hand--- or its not. I think in this case, there will be others... ITs a beauty, but just not YOUR beauty!

I agree. While the EC is certainly beautiful  if it doesn't make your heart sing find one that does! I did what MGR suggested. And thought long and hard about what I would choose if I were to start all over without a ring and that's how I found one that makes my heart go pitter patter. I know you will find your HG ring MayK and then be sure to post many many pictures here please! :cheeky: :appl:

I WISH!!!

Sell your RB too and put the whole pot to a honker. Or maybe do a trade-in. Would your tranny qualify for upgrade with JBEG? If so, maybe they can source you an antique EC? Sell the MRB... Get a 2.5+ct.

Oh Dreamer... You are bad... My five stone Solasfera might be in danger. :Up_to_something: .. But my ering is sentimental. It has to stay.
