Taking turns would be fine with me, but how would we figure out who does so when? And I vote that Ellen not be allowed to start the thread (ducks).

Woohoo! I''m back from my exam. It went ok-the horses and small animal part of it was really good. I got cats and guinea-pigs to sex and say all about their husbandry etc. The cattle and sheep was more difficult and I had to turn over a huge calf so at least all those hours in the gym paid off

I''m glad that this thread is staying Lorelei!

I don''t think you want me opening a thread. I''d probably say something like,

Morning all!

As I reflected over the weekend, I realized just how short life really is. Why deny yourself one of the true pleasures in life, comfort food! They don''t call it that for nothing folks. So fry that chicken, mash those taters, and whip up some of that awesome milk gravy! Seriously, it just doesn''t get any better than that. Well, no, that''s not true. A lil pecan pie for dessert would be better......

Best I leave the opening to someone more responsible.

Yep that''s my workout for the day done

Those sheep and calves were heavy!

My thoughts on this thread. Morning all! I am delighted to see this thread would continue but I sort of felt eveyone would want it to continue since it ROCKS, thanks Lorelei! I would be happy to do one opening, Lorelei; I do think you do a fab job. It would be fun to try doing an opening one time.
1.gif
hehe I do think if someone takes the raines that they we all need to commit to start it by a specific time so we aren't all looking for it that morning and can't post, do you guys agree????? Maybe a thread needs to be started by 8am Eastern time???

What do you all think if we change the name to "Weekly Healthy Thread" or Weekly Healthy Lifestyle thread" or "Weekly Healthy Changes Thread" ???? I don't know those are what I came up with. The only reason why I propose that is when I first joined I thought I had to workout that day in order to post and it isn't true but if it was misleading to me maybe it is to others

I think these are excellent suggestions Skippers, I vote for the title to be Weekly Healthier Lifestyle Thread, lets see what everyone else thinks! That is great that you are up for openers, I think depending on who is up to start the thread, when we are organized as to whose turn it is, if you US based folks decide between you when would be a convenient time to do it, then when it is my turn again, I will stick with Monday morning my time as I am a few hours ahead.

Yesterday after muscle hour I went to wash my hands in the bathroom and this girl who was younger than me and thinner was washing her hands too. She was red and looked exhausted. She said to me "do you always do that class?" I was quite sure what direction she was going with her question so I said most weeks you can find me in that class. She said Wow, that was a killer class. I laughed and reassured her it a little bit easier but to increase weights when it does, but I encouraged her to keep attending the class and she will feel how strong she will get. It made me proud of myself in a small way that I get myself to that class each week.

Today I plan to do 40 mins of cardio today; I am a little bummed I won't be watching Trevor but my sister thanked me for taking care of her 1st baby. hehe

Ellen, no talkies about comfort food unless it is in moderation
25.gif
2.gif
hehe Do I need to get out the pillows for the pillow fight, miss?

Kimi, I am glad you got to visit with them' how cute that your nephew is talking lots!
1.gif
Yay for a few more weeks of school!!!!! You will do awesome! hehe to the Trevor comment (I think so too)
11.gif
2.gif
You will lose those 2 lbs soon; you always do. hehe

Lorelei, yay, for the thread!!!

SS, glad JT is all better, what a relief!!! I take a break from it if things start to hurt in a sort of bad way not the yoga hurt way or modify if you can. I have a friend who does down face dog on her forearms not hands because she has week wrists. Thanks for the free info. hehe

Appletini, yay for PT yesterday! Don't you think the prick test itches like crazy???hehe I had a retest not too long ago and I am allergic to cats bad too and a little allergic to dogs. Do you have a cat? I wish I didn't have to get shots, glad you don't!! I heart cheese too!

Sarah, best wishes w/your tests, you will do great! You will lose the 1lb quick, hang in there! Good to see you!

Rod, Yay for not being too hot outside and enjoying time outside on the terrace! thanks for the interesting tip on cardio. I will stick w/35-40 mins. Mara mentioned something about that too not too long ago. Thanks for the kudos but I have 20 lbs to lose but i know I can do it w/everyones encouragement! Thanks, sweetie!

DeeJay, I love light beer
embeer.gif
cheers!!!

Monarch, whoo hoo for the interviews!

Turtledazzle we miss you! Good to see you!

Hey Linda!!! You are not old!

Marcy, I hope you ate and don't starve. I vote for sapphire earrings because I want some. hehe Kudos for the reward, perfect motivation!!! If you don't buy the earrings or ring you should still reward yourself w/something like getting a new outfit or getting your nails done, or massage. hehe Thanks for the kudos!

Bee, yay for getting your test done; I am sure you did very well!!!! Hehe you are making me laugh; I think you are fab Bee!!! Thanks, I probably will take you up on your offer if I make it out to Ireland. Hey your trip is coming up soon, yay!!!

Steph, I hate those dreams; I had a crazy dream about underwear. I would put them away and they would keep reappearing after I just put them away. Yikes, scary dream you had. Glad Adam is doing better. Yes, try it; it is delicious, the brand is Fresh Foods. I heart costco do you? hehe

Have a great day all

In fact I like it because it sounds like we are working to get there and like we all aren't already there so it is good for everyone because we all are at different stages! Bravo Lorelei

<----- Lorelei, hearing the cheers. hehe Okay, I am getting silly this morning.

Hehehe! I hear ''em Skip! I also think it is apt, as it is an ongoing process, and it does cater for those of us who would rather not work out, regardless of where they are at.

Thankies and kudos for the good name Lorelei for Healthier; I like it! What about a weekly thread or reminder. Like lets all work to get 5 fruits and veggies in or getting your daily water, or or some little change we all can make that week??? Or is that over the top. hehe I forgot to add that up above.

Ellen, pillow fight time.

Hey all, just a brief update. I gained a pound back over the weekend. Yuck. But I have come back strong and lost it back. I''ve been walking every morning for 30 mins brisk with 3 lb weights. I''ve been doing 200 crunches a day, with squats and plies in the morning, and in the evening I''m doing different sculpting moves mixed with pilates.

Tonight I''m hoping to do some jump rope for a switch up and some more intense yoga.

Hope everyone is doing well! I''ll check back in a bit and give more extensive response lol.

I try to remind myself, it is a question of balance. Our bodies are constantly changing and adapting, you gain and lose some on and off throughout life, it is keeping things in check that makes the difference, as you are doing!

I really want to start investigating pilates....

You can buy a dvd w/out doing the reformer machine. I took the beginning class and it was very good; I found it similiar in a way to yoga but a little different breathing.

Dragonfly good for your walks that is awesome!

Thanks Skip, I will have a look. Do you recommend any DVD in particular? I really want to try it as I think it would be safe for my back, and also Mara and yourself have had such good results with it.

I don''t have time to write much this early afternoon as we''re running late. But, I had to LOL at Ellen''s sample weekly opener. TOO TOO FUNNY Ellen! I''m so glad everyone wants this thread to continue. Skippy the new name is a good one and would emcompass everyone in whatever goals they have set for being here. I too am willing to help be a weekly opener, BUT, Lorelei I would ONLY do this if you are tired of coming up with inspiration each week. To me and I''m sure to everyone else, you are the light that starts this weekly quest for a healthier ''us!'' I always sign off on Sunday nights wondering what Lorelei is thinking about and how it might apply to my goals for the week coming up!!!!!!!!!!

So, Dear Lorelei, if you are hoping someone will help you, I''m sure you''ll get lot''s of offers. But, please only take any of us up on that if you just need a break. Otherwise, if we''re voting (and I hope we are!), my vote is for you to continue opening this thread every Monday from across the pond, so we can still be excited to see what you''ve thought up for us.

With much care for you all...........

Rod

Yay for this thread sticking around! While I am not always the best about posting (silly life getting in the way!), I really enjoy reading everyone''s posts. I feel like the WWTers are a family, in a way. It''s a great place to come for support.

Speaking of support, I gained 3 pounds back.
20.gif
I blame the chocolate cake from last week...chocolate cake every day cannot be diet-friendly. I''m hoping it''ll drop off pretty quickly though. Especially with all the packing and moving we''re doing!

As of next week, my evenings should be at least a bit less swamped, so hopefully I''ll be able to post more. I miss you guys!

Rod, you are such a sweetheart! I was wondering if anyone else would like to take the stage instead, I am more than happy to continue, so I guess we will see? I am excited about the ' new' thread, as I feel we can take things in a slightly different direction, still keep the emphasis on the thread being a safe place for anyone who needs support for weight issues etc. But also with many healthy choice topics and support, besides the working out, such as quitting smoking, just taking the first steps into making a change, so we can be a motivational thread for various healthier lifestyle choices.

We miss you too LP, and your yarring kitty!

OMG Ellen, you crack me up. I almost spit my coffee all over my computer screen.

Doesn''t everyone want to meet Ellen?????? I sure do!!
36.gif
In Fact, I wish I could meet everyone here.

Lorelei: I am so glad you are going to keep this thread going. I look forward to it everyday, even though I don''t post daily.

LP: You aren''t alone, I also gained 3 pounds back. I don''t even know where they came from, but.... they have to come off NOW!!!!!! I think the stress from my mom being ill and cranky is making me eat a little more, so I really have to watch it, being pre-diabetic. UGH!!

Nothing new to report here, my grandson is better, so he went to school today. Poor little guy, he had such a bad asthma attack.

Marcy: I hope you buy yourself something fantastic for losing 160 pounds!! Lady you deserve it. You have worked so darn hard.

Hi Bee, Skippy, Steph, Rod, and everyone else
35.gif

Will be back later,
Linda

Well I had planned to workout today, but one of my work buddies invited me to lunch with her, so I accepted. She''s on another floor now so we dont get to chat as much. Anyway we have both been trying to be a lot healthier, so we had a healthy lunch at Cafe Express...I got the shrimp and avocado salad with dressing on the side, but the salad was so good that I didn''t even try the dressing.

Skippy, Fortunately I don''t have any cats, but I did have a qutie a few as pets growing up (4th-8th grade) and it nevered bothered me then, but I have noticed over the last few years that when I am around it (which is rare) that is does bother me quite a bit. I was actually suprised that I didn''t get very itchy with the skinprick test, but areas definitely were swollen--I looked like I was attacked by mosquitos. I can''t wait for the marks on my arms to go away so I can wear short-sleeves again.

OK a more detailed update.
So my thing is, I''ve been fighting plateaus through the past 5lbs. I want to lose an additional 10-15lbs so I can be fit, in shape and at a healthy weight for my height. I''m 5"1, and I still feel a bit pudgy right now. That being said, I feel good when I gain on a weekend and it zips back down in a couple of days. It makes progress more realistic lol. I have been doing some jogging (I''m up to 15 mins without breaking to walk at a time), and some alternates of jog walk, and still doing inclines on the treadmill when I can. I need to get more cardio in on there though, but it''s just so darned nice out in the mornings lol. I do find walking with the weights to be a nice challenge.

Apple - that salad sounds way yum!!
Lorelei - first of all thank you for the comments! It does help to keep track, and I try to do so! Also wanted to tell you that pilates has been fantastic for me. I have a weaker back when it comes to muscle and it has helped to strengthen some, but even more it has strengthened my core to help support my back. I got my dvd in a 3 in one set, so I''m not sure how that would help, but There are some great books in the local bookstores, and Caribbean workouts has an entire series and they have at least one pilates video that I know of. I do their yoga routines and it works up a sweat!

Lady - Chocolate cake every day!? I dream of that day! I haven''t had chocolate cake in ages. It''s always nice to treat yourself, and three lbs isn''t so bad.

I somehow forgot to mention in my last post that DH also had an interview yesterday which went extremely well. The company is flying him out to their HQ in PA next week for an interview with the VP, so that is a very positive sign. Hubby''s office would be less than two miles from our house, giving him some freedom to come home and let the dogs out like I used to do when I worked so close to home. He is very excited about it.

Someone asked if I had a deeper interest in one of the companies I interviewed with over the other...the truth is they are completely different as far as size of store/type of product/position, so each one has it''s pros and cons. One is a luxury goods retailer, the other is women''s clothing and home goods. I would honestly be happy to do either, but the position with the latter is management and would likely offer a higher salary, so at this point I am leaning toward that one. Money isn''t everything, of course, but at this point in life I have to make that a priority.

I''m feeling completely congested and yucky today, so I will rest and take care of myself rather than work out. Has anyone ever tried the neti pot? My friend has one and uses it when she has a cold, she swears it helps her get over the illness faster. I have no idea where to find them, I just emailed her to ask where to buy one.

The Monday Opener thoughts??? Okay, this are my thoughts on the opening. I think Lorelei is doing a Wonderful job; she is so inspiring!!!!!
9.gif
36.gif
I do think it would be fun for all of us to try the opening once in awhile if we want to? Maybe we could start a list of who wants to start the opening. Lorelei then Sunday you can say "Rod don't forget to open the week." Or you could start the thread but some one actually kicks off the opener? What does everyone think? Lorelei? Add me to the list please if we do do that (I think I would have fun having a go at it once.) hehe

dragonfly, for me w/when I plateu I look at my food journal and see what worked the week I lost weight. I track my progress on a graph of weight loss and I write down what I eat for the week. Sometimes I forgot, "Oh yeah, I had a big cupcake, or extra slice of pizza." I think writing things down really helps me. Some people don't lose weight sometimes because they are doing everything right and not eating enough or not getting enough protein in their body's. Just a thought. Maybe try those or make sure you get 6-8 glasses of water or extra fiber that week. I notice getting foods with fiber helps get rid of crap from your body.

Rod, have a wonderful work out!!!

Monnie, the neti pots help; they sell them at Wild Oats, Whole Foods and Walgreens (I use mine for sinus congestion or allergies and it helps)!!! Hope you feel better and yay for your hubby and you!!

Apple, I can tell when people have cats. I love them and they are beautiful but my eyes get itchy and I start coughing, it can be bad but it depends on the cats sometimes too, it is weird. My hives on my back were gone in a week; hubby thought they looked weird. My doc has me on flonase, zyrtec, and singular (thanks to Kaleigh's suggestion). I have eye drops too. What are you taking and does it help?

Lorelei, my sister has to get back to me on the pilates dvd's she does. Thanks Lorelei, you are always so positive
12.gif

Ladypirate, great to see you; you will lose those 3 lbs, you can do it!!!!

Linda, I get to meet Miss Ellen in 3 weeks. hehe I would love to meet everyone too, but I happen to be in Ellens neck of the woods soon. hehe Lorelei, fly out here so we can meet you!!! Linda, come out here; we have good mexican food.
