They did.
And my parents are home safely now thank goodness but my sister and BIL are still driving back home now to Long Island. The snow is really coming down and driving conditions are hazardous at the moment.

How's the weather by you today?

I’m so happy the snow didn’t cause them to miss their vaccine. I hope it doesn’t snow when I go. I have to drive north too..
It’s been snowing all day..I had the snowplow guy come again..It’s just lightly snowing now..We’re supposed to get more next week!!
What’s it doing by you?

Lots of snow here and still going strong. Greg’s going out right now to start shoveling because it’s all turning to ice overnight.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed your vaccine appointments go smoothly!

Thanks! I know other people are worrying about it too. Of course last year we didn’t have snow. It had to pick this winter...I actually love it..but not now..

So this is weird. I just spoke with my sister and she said the Javitz center was empty, like a ghost town to use her phrase. What is going on? So many people cannot get appointments yet no one is showing up? Is it just because of the snow? My sister went for her vaccine Friday and it also was relatively empty...

I don't understand what is happening but they need to open appointments up to people who want to get vaccinated and now. There should be no vaccine unused!

i have a woolworths bladder (and im not talking about the upmarket South African version of Woolies !)
We have this rule before going to see Bruce Springsteen
No eating or drinking for 3 hours before - because who wants to miss part of the show having to fight your way to the loo and back
I mean tickets are really exspensive, and im not missing a moment
I am positively bursting by the end
it doesn't help either we get stadium shows in the hight of summer so you gotta sip a bit of water through out the show

Just buy the depends ( incase you sneeze or cough )

Its tragic to think of even one vacine going to waste
Anybody would be preferable to nobody
 
My friend’s son is a fire fighter. They got a call the other day from the local hospital to say they had 80 doses of vaccine left, so first come first served. They raced over, but so had lots of other emergency services, so he didn’t end up getting vaccinated, but at least our NHS are trying to ensure that every shot is used.

When my friend went with her husband last Monday for him to get his 1st shot, she overheard the staff saying quite a lot of people hadn’t turned up, that’s why I’m going on Thursday with DH, just in case they’ve had any no shows and have any going spare. If not, with the vaccination roll out going so well, it looks like it’ll be my turn towards the end of March, so not too long to wait.

Although its bad people don't turn up, this is working out well it seems

Here our hospital micro manages appointments to avoid no shows

They ring you the day before to remind you
Gary always rings if he has to cancel and he has been bumped up appointment lists when other people cancel.
I wish this would happen with his eye op but we can't get past the officouse admin person :(2

I am glad you and your DH will be getting vaccinated very soon @Austina and it does sound hopeful that perhaps you will be able to get it along with Colin. Fingers crossed.

My friend R's friends (they live in Chicago) were able to get vaccinated 2 weeks ago despite both being in good health and relatively young. The school where their friend works had 3 no shows for the first Covid dose and their friend called them and they got to the school fast and were able to both be vaccinated. Sometimes it's just a matter of good luck and being close enough when you are called.

I hear quite a few of these things happening. It is tragic..It doesn’t change my mind about getting it. I wish they would follow up with what they find out caused his death. Considering I have to drive us home after the shot....

It was a completely freak accident. Nothing to do with the vaccine. I shared it because the absurdity of life gets me. That poor man and his family. Heartbreaking. Each moment is precious and we must be constantly vigilant about our surroundings and ourselves. I’m accident prone and I repeat this to myself often. Be careful.

I agree @missy! Accidents happen in a flash..Look at my mom...I fall a lot...I’ve been extra careful during covid..I don’t want to wind up in the ER..
 
My dad, my son, and my DIL have all gotten their first shots. I’m so relieved that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for them.

I hope the rest of us will be up soon!
