Well, Now Brett Kavanaugh Can Face His Accuser

After all this time, there can be no proof either way. It's a total he said/she said.

I remember the 80’s well @jaaron. Where this took a turn to assault was they turned up the music, closed the door and he put his hand over mouth and nose to silence her. Men or boys, even back then didn’t do this. Rapists did this. Even back in the 80’s, I don’t know a girl or women who wouldn’t have felt she was being sexually assaulted the same way women knew when they were being date raped. It took a lot of guts for Dr. Ford to come out and tell her story. He doesn’t belong on the Supreme Court. She felt it was her duty as a citizen to speak because this is the highest court in our country. The woman has more courage than any of these Republican senators do.

Dr. Ford is just another women these men feel should shut up and deal with it. I have no doubt Kavanaugh feels he did nothing wrong. He was an entitled a$$hole who drank to excess.

Listening to Lindsay Graham and other Republican Senators this morning mad me sick to my stomach.

Any woman who listened to her testimony and not ask for another week to investigate further should lose her woman card. Women are second class citizens in our country. All women should be speaking out in Dr. Ford defense. Her story could very well be your daughter or granddaughters story some day.

Senator’s Whitehouse and Klobuchar are my heros this morning. They gave very powerful speech’s this morning.

Phone calls to RAINN were up 57% the past week, and this was before yesterday’s decision. For all the women and men making these calls, this wasn’t political.

Than you for posting this @Matata. Lynn Brooks was the women I heard speak last night. She said everything Corey Booker did.

Many of the Democrats speaking this morning give me hope for the country. Not agreeing to having a week long FBI investigation is a slap in the face to all women. This is a moral issue for our country. Anyone who thinks otherwise is perpetuating rape culture. Dr. Ford had nothing to gain and a lot to lose by coming forward.

Stupid, stupid out of date computer won't play this! I love Cory Booker. Maybe when I get back to Connecticut tomorrow I will be able to view it. But my husband works from home some Fridays and he made lunch, so there is compensation for being here. (Lunch was very good, too. I slept late and read in bed since I couldn't watch anything.)

I really need the conservatives to answer me on whether they believe that "boof" means farting.:lol::lol:

of course it does! I mean, really, what's so unbelievable about the claim that an 18 year old asked in his year book "have you farted yet?" Because it makes complete sense that he and his friends were *only just* able to biologically fart. duh! :P2

Does anyone else think the line in the sand will keep moving regards Kavanaugh. Listening to Trump this morning making comments about Kavanaugh’s drinking was strange. Trump said Kavanaugh’s had a little bit of difficulty with drinking. WTH. Kavanaugh mischaraterized his drinking under oath.

lindsay graham has already stated he doesn't care if brett assaulted this lady or half the country. He will vote for him no matter what. He sleeps at night trying to convince himself that it is all a conspiracy. It couldn't possibly be that brett isn't qualified to be on the court.

I don't think democrats and non trump supporters get the GOP senators with the stop kavanaugh issue . The GOP do not care if a person is honest or tries to rape people. I mean, how many times has trump been sued? How many times has he lied? Nothing matters to them at this point. NOTHING. THIS IS THEIR DEFINITION of a good person who is qualified to run the country. If trump is qualified to run the country it is a hard sell to say kavanugh isn't ok for the court.
They turn their nose at everything. IF THEY SUPPORT trump, they will support ANYONE. Seriously. trump has very likely assaulted at least 19 women. Probably raped at the very least, one of his wives ( she later said she would take money to not tell what happened so she recanted her previous statements after the settlement )

If they support a man who has done what trump has done over the last 70 years, one attempted rape and a severe drinking problem is NOTHING. It isn't like they have any morals left to stand on. brett isn't even on a video bragging that he grabs women by their privates! If they vote for trump, how are they going to say hey attempted rape now suddenly isn't ok for them now.

There is no line in the sand at this point. All the former republicans, and democrats can do at this point is make sure in every election from here on out every one of the morally bankrupt GOP vultures is voted out.

This accusation shouldn't have came out public but of course my beloved Senator Feinstein choose to use the letter as a political weapon at the right time. Why didn't Feinstein Q. Kav. about Dr. Ford's accusation during the senate hearing?. The whole country knows why.

I remember an old story told about honesty and character.
---------------
There is a story told of an unscrupulous character who approached a trusted employee of a reputable old firm. His intention was to convince the employee to help him steal a considerable amount of money from the company. The employee refused consistently until finally, after being offered one million dollars, he gave in to the scheme.

After the two had successfully done their dirty work, the criminal offered the employee one hundred dollars for his help. The employee was furious. In a voice filled with anger the employee said, “What do you think I am, a criminal?”

The man who had planned the crime said in a voice filled with contempt, “We have already established the quality of your character; now we are just dickering over the price.”
----------------------

The GOP can feign what ever moral lies they want, but at this point they are all just arguing about the cost.

What it comes down to is that Republicans just don't consider sexual assault to be a problem. If they did, they wouldn't have elected Trump, they wouldn't have hired Bill Shine after he left Fox "News" in disgrace, they would've returned Steve Wynn's money, and they would never have insisted on pushing Kavanaugh's confirmation through. Their defense of Kavanaugh alternates between "he's innocent" and "should he really be held accountable for something that happened in high school?" Well, which one is it?

I couldn’t agree more with your above posts @tkyasx78 and @JPie . My fear is after everything we have witnessed during the past 20 months, this will now become the country’s normal going forward. Lying is perfectly acceptable, decency and compassion are gone. Our politicians should be working together for the good of the country, yet this isn’t happening,

Some of the comments in these threads have made me feel sick. The past week has shown just how little women are valued in this country. The worst part of this is so many republican women could care less. Anyone who can listen to the women speaking to Jeff Flake in the elevator and not feel their pain, needs help.

@Dancing Fire you seem to feel nothing could happen to your daughters and grandchildren. Your grandchildren will be attending school in a few years. You seriously don’t think a school shooting could happen at your grandchildren’s school? You don’t think one of them could be sexually assaulted in their lifetime?

The idea that nothing needs to change until it happens to someone close to you, baffles me. Yet this is basically the way many republicans think and feel.

I have little doubt Kavanaugh will be confirmed.

If she had you would have said The. Same. Exact. Thing. I think you've been sniffing too much of your own boofs.

Since when do we have TV ads for SC nominees? I don't recall this with past appointments, am I wrong? I don't like it! It is beneath the dignity of the position.

I'd like to hear that as well. Only let's take it a step further. Let's ask anyone with a sixth grade education.

Nope, you're not wrong there was never a circus like this one.

HOW are you gonna send TEXTS to people and expect that you won't get caught. Jesus, Are all Yale graduates this dumb?
How are you gonna lie on national television and not think you won't get caught?? I'm almost embarrassed for him.... Almost.

I deeply hope he gets everything he deserves for lying in front of the senate. And for potentially sexually assaulting people. He is human scum.

Does Kavanaugh think he can lie because he watches Trump do it multiple times per day and gets away with it? It’s worked out great for Trump.

What does this idiot not understand that you can’t lie under oath. One would think you wouldn’t need to explain this to a damn judge.

You're right. :nono:

It's a sad day for this country.

He is likely to get a seat on The Supreme Court for it because nothing is fair in Washington since Donald Trump grabbed power. The people of conscience from the Republican Party stand out like gleaming beacons. I just heard about the backgrounds of Senators Flake and Coons. Senator Coons went to divinity school. Both men did charity work (faith based) in Africa. They are thoughtful. Senator Flake may not end up voting the way I feel he should, but at least he isn't heartless. I know that is a low bar, but Senator Flake is one of the only Republicans rising to it!
