I've been typing and re-typing this message for 30 minutes now. I'm just not sure what to say. I want to be fair...

So, I have a new stone, set in the same setting. It's a 3.51 cushion brilliant I VS2, Symm/Pol: VG, No Flour. Depth: 69.1% Table: 68%

While I don't know what the experts would say about it, to my eye, it is beautiful. The table is smaller than the original stone (which I like) and the da*n inclusion is gone. Of course, we forked over another $7K to get it. However, I had a printed list of stones/prices from BN, Solomon Bros. and Art of Platinum and I think we got a fair price for the stone.

I saw about 15 stones in total, as I was willing to look at shapes other than cushion and scrap the setting if necessary. I almost didn't see this stone, as I'd said I didn't want to go lower than H in color, but he showed it to me without telling me the color and I thought it was a G. It faces up very white, which is what I wanted.

Having the stone examined by an appraiser didn't pan out, as his schedule didn't work well with mine (I didn't have a stone for him to look at by the time of my appt) and honestly, he made a couple of comments about how "politically connected" the Malakov family was and I didn't feel like he'd really be on my side anyway.

As for the experience, I dealt with Meir Malakov, Roman's son and he was extremely accommodating and patient for the most part. He and my hubby got into a "spat" when my husband made a comment that was uncalled for. Hubby walked out and I got an earful about how I'd better be careful and all it would take was "one call to his lawyer" about this "Pricescope business".

Long story short, I have a ring and I'm hoping that in time, I won't have a sour taste in my mouth when I look at it. It's raining here in Atlanta, and I'm a terrible indoor photographer, so photos will have to wait until the sun comes out. I know, I know...after making you wait all of this time, I'm holding out on the goods, but I've taken a few test shots and they're terrible.

Anyway, to all of you who supported me during this saga, a heartfelt "thank you". It was clear that I was much more knowledgable this time around and I think it definitely helped me get a nice stone. Looking forward to putting this behind me and start planning my next project (as soon as the wallet recovers from this one, sometime in 2030 or so!)....

Oh Yenny!! I am so pleased you got something that is pleasurable to your eyes! That is all that matters!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

I have been checking and re checking your previous thread for an update. I was soooooo nervous just thinking about all that you were going through!!

I am sure that you will grow to love your new diamond and this whole messy situation will be a distant and irrelevant memory.

I cannot wait to see your new sparkly!!!

Wear it in good health! :wavey:

Glad it worked out! And do post pix, we'd love to see them!

Yenny,
I am so glad it all worked out, and I can't wait to see it! Let's do lunch again soon.

How exciting--i am glad you have a stone you love!

The point was for you to have a stone and ring that you loved and it seems that you've accomplished that. We could be nothing but happy for you!

Please don't keep us waiting too long for pictures - we want to share your excitement. You got a heck of a rock - 3.51 - wow! Just can't wait to see it but most importantly, I'm so happy that you are happy!! :appl:

Ditto MGR - sounds like you've finally got a ring you're happy with, and that's the most important thing! Hopefully that will, in time, completely overshadow the process that was acquiring it :))

Congrats Yenny!

Glad you found something you liked! Now cleanse your mind of any bad memories and enjoy your beautiful new stone!

Hey Yens! OK, you've made it through the hoops, jumped over the bridges, slayed the dragons, and rescued your fair cushion! What a journey

I am so proud of you for handling the situation and you know what? You have now a big beautiful force of nature on your dainty finger. I bet it's gorgeous. I can't wait to see the photos.

LOVE ALWAYS!!!! -Deb

Forget the journey, focus on the end result. Did you keep the old setting as well?
Congrats on finding something more to your liking now its time for pictures :naughty: :naughty: .

Thanks everyone, it means a lot :)

yes you have to post pictures! i am glad you went back...hopefully you will be happy with this stone :) can't wait to see it!

Well for having spent 30 minutes re-typing, your comments seem very fair. Congrats on the new stone!! :appl: :appl:

I don't know how one-call-to-a-lawyer-about-Pricescope means anything - sounds like a dumb and desperate thing to say, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Do you LOVE the stone??

Yippee I am glad you found something you love. Put this mess behind you and enjoy

Congratulations. Now enjoy your beautiful diamond.
Can't wait for pics. :appl:

Yay!!

Yenny, I've been following you story and just wanted to tell you I'm so glad you were able to find another stone that you are happy with! :appl: Can't wait for pics!

Divorce the experience from the ring, and just enjoy your ring!!! And share with us with pictures. I am glad you got a stone that looks lovely to you.

As for Pricescope business... the truth is a defense to anything. ((HUGS)). Threats are just that.

Yenny,

I am so happy you had a happy outcome. You must have an incredible ring with a true boulder. I am so looking forward to seeing the photos!

I am so happy you ended up with a cushion as I think this shape was truly your first love.

yenny, you seem to be a lightning rod for bad jewelry buying experiences. I hope this kind of thing doesn't happen every time you enter into a new sparkly venture. Hopefully the drama can just be related the unveiling of your piece of jewelry from now on!

I followed your story as well and I'm so glad you got a ring you seem to love. Forget the journey and enjoy that diamond!!! LOL
Share pics soon.

Good job staying strong and getting what you wanted. forget the Jerk... I mean journey and enjoy the result.

Can not wait to see your ROCK!!!

Congratulations on finding a stone you like. I'm so sorry you went through a rough time. Like others have said, start fresh and enjoy your ring once it's all set to your liking. I'm sure it will be stunning!

Cachette :))

congrats Yenny!! ... :appl:

It's beeee-autiful!

Yenny, I'm so glad you got your beautiful stone! Just scratch the whole experience from your mind and enjoy it. It's gorgeous!

Well said! Nicely balanced and truthful to my ear. Thank you for sharing your saga with us - I have learned a lot.

Enjoy the ring - and the stone. No flaws - not even the experience. However, I have a friend who bought a ring from someone who's engagement didn't happen and had a 'cleansing' ceremony done so that they felt any negative energy that might have been connected to the stone would be gone. If that appeals to you, I'm sure someone here could give you suggestions.

Congratulations and I can't wait to see photos!

yenny - i think you have done amazingly well considering where you started. i'm glad to hear for the most part that roman malakov and son were courteous and not nasty, given some of your other interactions.

you stood up for yourself and refused to be bullied.
you forced the vendor make things right.
you fought a good fight and now it's time to enjoy your trophy - even though it was not the most pleasant experience, you did prevail in the end.

enjoy!

ps don't know what was up with the lawyer comment. I will say however that they seem to be aware of any negative reviews on the internet - there was a really negative scathing review on yelp from earlier this year a few months before you went there and now i can't find any hint of it online at all.

now i'm gonna go look at your pics!
