We've Bought an Historical Old Vicarage!

Your home is absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks, beautiful! It’s VERY easy to become complacent about the things that we have & I do try to remind myself often.

Yesterday one of the girls had a friend over who hasn’t actually been here before. I had a message from her mum last night to say that Charlotte had gone home with strict instructions for them to start saving, so they they could live in a house like this one day :lol-2: :kiss2:

Have the sheep arrived yet? ::)

Sort of! They’ve been put in the field across the other side of the lane (behind the Church) & the farmer came with a tractor to cut the field next door. I think it was too long & flowery for sheep to graze? We do however, now have a sheep family in the paddock at the back of us - three mummies & several lambs.

I was re-reading some of this thread this morning because I’m still in awe of the the transformation of your beautiful home @Ally T This thread is a pick me up for me. Seeing all you were able to achieve is inspiring. I hope your family is enjoying and making wonderful memories in this beautiful home. Knowing there are sheep and lambs grazing nearby is another picturesque part of this beautiful setting.

Thank you so much! Every day is a learning day here, as we have never cared for a house of this size or age before. My telescopic duster that extends to 5 meters, thanks to my eldest daughter, was the BEST 50th Birthday present ever :lol-2:

And also today we finally fitted the Victorian doorbell (with a new rope) that took me AGES to source. And I love it! It just about covers the hole left by the wooden / brass monstrosity from the 1950’s that we removed. Plus any bell is better than no bell in a house like this. The takeaway delivery driver had to bang on several random window to get attention last night :lol-2:

Oh @Ally T, I love the bell.

I had to laugh about the best 50th birthday gift. It’s funny how the gifts that make our life easier/better are often our favorite gifts. My favorite gift from my husband were ice packs he found me when I was having hot flashes. I remember thinking I had better tone down my excitement to him about the ice packs or I may never recieve another piece of jewelry as a present from him. LOL

This is SO true and SO funny!! My excitement at the duster was off the scale embarrassing. But also, the cleaner was just as excited when she saw it too :lol-2:

I love your house, Ally. It's beautiful.

And I am right there with you about the extending duster! It's a thing of beauty, lol!

It's so great that you saved and restored the house. A different buyer might well have razed it to the ground and built something new. I love that you saved all the history, with the framed documents in the hallway and everything. Just *chef's kiss*
