I am in love with these two rings from Whiteflash, mostly the Harmony.

Unfortunately I cannot just buy the setting as Whiteflash does not ship out the setting alone. Anybody know of any similar designs to these rings sold by other designers/vendors?

I would love to buy the setting from WF but I''d either have to

a) buy a stone from them as well for them to set into the setting (Their prices are great....but as a Canadian the exchange rate would not allow me to get a stone I want in my budget)

OR

b) I''d have to send a stone to them to have them set into the setting. (Not feeling to comfortable with the idea of sending the stone away and having someone else set it. I know I"d have to get insurance, but still......) Anyone done this option and have any words of encouragement?

Hello

I have sent WF stones to be set in one of their settings.
It is a ring I am having made for my mom, a 3 stone with 3 princess cuts.
I have not received it yet but the work has been completed and it went through smoothly with no problems at all.
I am just waiting on arranging a good time to have it shipped to me that''s all.
I had no problems getting it to WF I sent it Fedex insured overnight and they got it safe and sound.
There were no problems setting the stones either.
I am a Canadian as well.
Hope that helps...

How do you send a diamond to whiteflash for a custom setting?

I live in Houston, and I would feel more comfortable dropping it off at their physical location.

What all do I need to send a diamond there for a custom setting? I''m thinking about buying a diamond from GOG if whiteflash can''t find one that is similar

hello,

Yes, I bought a stone from GOG and had it set in the WF Legato Sleek Lines, and couldn't be happier with the product and the process.
It was a lil bit concerning, as in this situation my stone was not insured (this is normal policy if you did not buy your diamond from the ppl making your setting).

I know that US ppl can get their stones covered by Jewelers Mutual etc for setting anywhere, but I'm not sure if this is available to Canadians

I'd say it is easier and simpler to get your diamond and setting in the one place..where would you like to buy your stone? I can sympathise with you, I know the Canada exchange rate has dropped drastically, as has the Australian one.

If you really love their settings and must buy your stone elsewhere, yes it is possible. Like I mentioned, it was a lil worrying, but everything went 110% smoothly in my case. WF have a very skilled bench that I trusted.
However, every diamond and setting job is different, so I can't say I would reccomend this route unless you've exhausted any other choice (or you can get insurance).

Personally, I haven't seen similiar settings in design and quality for the decent prices that WF have. And it would be a copyright issue to have a different jeweller copy the settings, unless you change it by a bit.

Hi Boondax, you would be best just emailing your rep about this. I know you can set up appointment at WF, but I''m not sure if you can just "drop in" like a retail jeweller.

You send diamonds by registered mail (USPS). If you buy a diamond from GOG, I would try to get a setting from them since they carry so many brands. But if you buy a diamond elsewhere and WF agrees to set it, then I''d just make an appointment and take it to WF if you live in Houston.

So if I sent a stone from Canada to WF (insured) the insurance would only cover the stone during delivery right?

That is, the insurance wouldn''t cover any damage that may occur to the stone while it is being set? (Not saying I''d expect there to be a beg chance that WF would damage it, but theoretically......it could happen)

*bump*

still wondering what would happen if I sent a stone out to have it set and it was damaged int he process?

does the insurance only cover the delivery to the setter ? (I"m considering Whiteflash bc I can''t find a simliar setting anywhere else, localy in Canada or otherwise)

NO WORRIES with Whiteflash. I just purchased a stone from Winfield''s, then had him send the stone to WF. Wink and Lesley do business together and have an excellent competitive relationship. My ring was overnighted to me and got here this morning. I would suggest getting insurance on the ring, but WF has an excellent reputation on this forum.

(Playing Devil''s Advocate) Say that you do send it in to WF. They screw something up, either you have insurance take care of it (that''s what you pay for) or you can raise a big stink on this forum. Think about how that would look for WF, if they screw something up, and don''t take the steps to make sure that they fix it, they could be hit hard because of all the people that post and read this website. I DOUBT that they would do anything but excellent work, but if they did, it would be in their best interests to make it right.

I have full 100% confidence in this company. I sent emails asking for updates and shipping confirmation and they replied within 20-30 minutes. It is totally your decision, but rest assured that when you deal with WhiteFlash, you are dealing with an outstanding company.
