What are you a snob about?

I must second this opinion... your authenticity and genuine, unpretentious nature come through even in type. I think you're one of the most delightful people on this forum, and it must be a pleasure to know you in "real life."

that you Autumn
thats way too kind
:kiss2:
i still have champaign tastes on a beer budget though

mind you i also drink ' lawn mower' beer not that awful posh stuff that tastes like apricot or what ever :lol-2:

I like certain things that I prefer to spend my money on but it doesn't mean I won't go with the flow or appreciate the preferences of others.

The only thing I can think of that I turn my nose up at is instant stuff - instant coffee, instant mashed potatoes, instant rice, etc.

Poor grammar and manners don't bother me unless it's intentionally offensive or insensitive to others. (It would be the pot calling the kettle black as my grammar/manners aren't without fault).

Admittedly, in recent years, the political divisiveness of our country does have me seeing some close to me in a different light. But valuing what we have, I politely say I disagree and rather than debate, will ask that we change the topic. We are all good people with different realities in this world.

One of the cool things about (and one I am most grateful for) being a Springsteen fan is I've become good personal friends with people of varied backgrounds - people I wouldn't have necessarily made the time to get to know otherwise.

What I've heard sounds great so far.

BUT as a fan of his songwriting, I feel a bit disappointed in the sense that they are just straight forward covers (whereas with Seeger Sessions he gave the originals a more modern feel). While he does them justice, it doesn't feel like he adds anything to the originals. Great fun when he does it in concert but I an album full of straight covers is something I associate with artists who run dry on new music that sells. Does that make me a snob?

oh no
i thought of something jewery related
please no one take offence
because i know there are nice ones out there

CZ and other stimulants are fine for me if they are small like in earrings and brooches.

DK :))

I will say I'm particular about food. If I'm going to use calories for something, it needs to be good. I have no problem turning down things that are subpar to me, because it's not worth the calorie spend. As someone that has been working to lose weight and get more fit the last year, I do think harder about is x item worth the calorie spend.

This is a good strategy. Don't waste calories on cheap cookies!

I think it is an American thing. I ate long pasta in Italy and nary a twirling spoon was seen. I saw my Italian colleague eat it without one too.

This whole conversation about spoons and spaghetti got me curious because I do remember some of my older Italian relatives using a spoon. But have never seen it while in Italy. Seems that it may have been a North vs. South thing and also something that was done decades ago, but not now.

I'm kind of a snob about food, in the sense that when I see someone at the grocery store stocking their cart with all pre-packaged food and nothing fresh, I do kind of wonder why they don't cook.......But I don't care how someone eats their spaghetti.

....about Byzantine foods

we get our groceried delivered but if i am at the check out buying the bad stuff i always make a point of buying some fresh fruit and veges so it looks pretty on the convayer belt :lol-2:

some one somewhere said recently that the body doesn't know the difference between a cup cake and a slice of bread
if both are bad i would rather indulge in a couple of slices of really good bread than any cake

:lol-2:

Hi,
I can't resist. I think I am snobby about people. Monarch, you have used the word banal on here to describe the inhabitants. (not today) I cautiously agree with that statement. However, to my pleasant surprise, you and LilAkex have taken the thread to a new level and shown that sharp wit or misunderstanding can create humor. Thanks.

Annette

I like to create a little entertainment here. Inspiration drawn from the Late, Great Dancing Fire, the never seen again Decodelighted, and obviously the always titillating Kenny. There are many more hilarious PSrs I’m forgetting, but you get my drift.

Banter is fun, and sometimes we learn a bit from each other through engaging that way. I like everyone here, and I also like to point out certain issues as they arise. (Pun fully intended.)

@LilAlex I don’t have a proclivity for young men. I am 45 years old and would never consider a suitor under the age of 26. The human brain isn’t fully developed until 25…I can’t get it up for anyone who isn’t at least on a level playing field. Kisses!

(Seriously though, there are PLENTY of men who are my age scouting for 26 year olds, maybe younger. The flak I caught for being a woman and implying similar is indicative of the double standard still occurring in our society. And that’s fine. Listen, I have very little in common with 26 year olds and there really is little appeal. 35 is more my speed. )

Perhaps I’m a snob now about the institution of marriage, I am coming to realize. I won’t go into a lengthy diatribe, but I feel that marriage is a temporary situation participated in by people who feel that it’s necessary for reasons imposed on them rather than because they actually WANT to. This attitude of mine has much to do with my personal experiences and some to do with observing others’.

Other snobbery? A messy car. Very simple—if you cannot keep your daily driver neat and mostly clean, I imagine other parts of you and your life to be messy. Also it’s gross. Recycle or toss your water bottles and trash. I never let my child eat in my vehicles therefore no petrified french fries emerge when I vacuum out my car. And I guess I’ll add one more thing: no soda or sugary drinks for kids. Rots their teeth. Now TV that rots their brains? Mine had a screen in front of her as needed from the time she cared to watch. I am le hypocrite. LOL

@monarch64 Just know that no one was laughing at you here... we're a silly bunch sometimes. I think you're a great asset to this forum and I've loved our interactions! I have to say one other thing, and I hope this is not inappropriate. I've seen your photos... I thought you were like 30 y/o, max! Beautiful!!

This is so true.

Espresso coffee.

I’m sorry but I have to say that the U.S and U.K. (and lots of other countries) do not know how to make proper espresso coffee. Whenever we go overseas for a holiday we always have to search online in advance for cafes owned/run by Australians. They only place we didn’t need to do this was Italy. Australia has a very strong cafe culture. Wouldn’t even contemplate drinking “instant“, tinned, coffee…..ugh

The 3 "T's" - tissues, toothpaste, and toilet paper. If I'm in someone's home and see they have cheap, thin, scratchy, or, heaven forbid, one-ply toilet paper, my perception of that person instantly changes. And if I have a cold, only the best Puffs Plus with Lotion will do. I'm a snob, and proud of it! :lol-2:

I started typing up a long response, got distracted by @LilAlex crackin' jokes, and realized that I'm pretty much a brat all around and decided to spare you all from my self-satisfied vitriol.

Some of us with septics can’t use lovely thick toilet paper :(2

I use only 1-ply and can’t stand anything thicker - it’s not a cost savings thing, it’s an active dislike of thick TP thing

I'm a toothpaste snob too. Tom's Wicked Cool Mild Mint is all I've used in the past several years.
If I use anything else now it feels like my mouth is burning :x2

I've also gone "unscented" on almost all my personal care and house cleaning products. I feel a lot better for it.

Charmin is safe for septic systems..We also have septic..

Thanks @MamaBee, the guy from the septic company came to give us an orientation and told us what to use and what not to use in order to keep it trouble free. One of the things he mentioned was using the thinnest paper we could. Also told us cooked vegetables are ok to go down the waste disposal in to the septic but not raw.

re: what’s “ok” for septics
It really depends on your tank, your field/mound + qty of people, whether there’s a grinder or not,
the type of soil you have/water table
and age and history of other issues.

not a hard rigid rule for one and all

edit- follow what your own honeypot pumper suggests, as long as they seem trustworthy and aren’t looking to overservice you or sell you a new system in a few years -

It’s a real pain in the beginning but you get use to it. I barely put anything down the garbage disposal. I just run it once after doing the dishes. I swipe any food left on the dishes into the trash so there’s nothing really there. I also don’t run the water for long periods of time because it can overtax the septic. It becomes normal after a while.
